Thread: just a thought

Your fellow smugglers are being vocal in attempt to premptively strike at something that clearly has negative effects - be they reversable or not, or what degree or not.

My friend in combat, war, or just a fist fight, the most open, clear, and "foresighted" move a combatant can make is to stop a fight before it starts. Less lives are lost, less feeling are hurt, less injuries occur. It is better for all involved in the situation. You know this to be true.

Now i agree with you in that scans rarely occur and will not make a big impact. I see how you think we're being chicken littles... really I do But you have to see that if the scans are ramped up to a significant level, well beyond the mere 1/1000 chance that i'll be scanned today, it will have the negative side effect of perterbing imperials when the REAL smuggling change comes when we take that right away from them (free pass).

In our idea, it is better to stir some stuff up now than get galaxies of people angry - angry to the point that it is irreversible.

Please get me here I'm not saying that my mind is CONCRETELY FIXED AND SET IN STONE that this is what is going to occur, and i don't think others here are trying to say that either. They are so vocal to let others know that this COULD occur, but i do understand others clearly seeing this as what they are saying. But the fact remains that when this thing goes live and when the effects happen as they will, there is the reality, based off history, that some significant negative outcomes could occur. Will they? I doubt it. I'd personally say there is as much chance that this will have no negative effects as someone with Underworld three has in bypassing a contraband scan (75% ish, I already forgot)

Just as a mention here, and i'm throwing this out to all my homies, being able to use skills from a profession without investing skillpoints (i.e. faction points), and using them outside of the galactic civil war is a big no no.

you should have not told them it was in jest man. I certainly would love a good little debate over those. Lol.

Thank you Laediin,

I take that as a deep compliment. I was refering to the use of that skill to high ranking coverts. While accepting the use by overt imperials to me is a pain, i could live with it - because being overt has it's price - I think letting a covert get a free pass on the scan would be too much.

When i say "in the Galactic Civil War" i mean overt. There are many faction perks that use other professions skills that can only be used by overts. Take faction pets like troops and AT-ST. Pets of that strength are normally only reserved to Creature Handlers. You can only use them while overt. Thanks for replying and being so open minded bro Thanks.

Well finally a well thought out post. Thank you for your responce.

I agree with everything you said, except 1 item i'm having a little trouble with. Say there is a player with the rank Captain in the impiral army. And lets just say for arguments sake that is one of the ranks that doesn't get scanned so they can carry any contraband on them.

My question is, what constitutes using that ability outside of the Glactic Civil War?

thee fact that it works for Covert Imperials of High rank as well. If it was Overts only I would have less of a pain about it. But it would still be wrong. "high Rank Imperials" (whatever that will be) are getting the equivilent of a Skil lwe pay skillpoints for, not only at our ability but better. The 5% however is not my concern, the fact that they have it at all is.

take tthe following as a comical approach to the argument, light spirtited but this is how it feels to me:

Top Ten other things "High RankingImperials" will now get for free:

  • 10. +65 weapon experimentation
  • 9. vehicle schematics
  • 8. Heavy harv schems
  • 7. +60 Pistol speed
  • 6. Flamethrowers
  • 5. Meditation, like TKA's but battle fatigue as well.
  • 4. Access to BH missions
  • 3. Warcry2
  • 2. Combat droids
  • 1. the recipes for all drinks, so they can celebarte thier new skills.

After all, they are high ranking imps and should get something for it. They got part of a Smuggler tree, why not the rest of the professions too.

this is in jest of course but it is to the same point. All of thoes abilities are only a portion of a tree from the professions noted. Just like smuggling is a portion of ours.

Ok we all agree there are some things about BH that we would like to see some changes. It's getting kind of old when most of the posts I read are mostly complaints. How about we start seeing something different for a change?

I was just thinking (weird, I know) that each month we seem to have a new "uber" profession (ie tka/combat medic/ rifleman , , , ) and that slowly but surely the devs are trying to get to each profession and "fix" it somewhat. The people playing those professions are better off, since the got some attention, but others will get their love sooner or later ( =combat balance). And although it may have been nice to see all of these changes/fixes all at once, there may still be some hope that we will see our fair share of attention sometime "soon".

I was also thinking that since each profession that has been "fixed" or at least shown some love seems to have has had a better "fix" than its predesesor. If this is at all true, it might actually be a blessing if we are looked at last. I am only speculation here, I have no evidence but maybe trying to find something positive out of this. It may also be naive.

I do not want any profession to be more "uber" than the next, but I do want my profession to be strong, and working.

Anyway, just a few thoughts.

I was thinking a few nights ago, Docs can give buffs that last up to 3 hours or more . Wouldnt it be nice if dancers and musicians alike , could give enetertainment buffs that lasted the same amt of time? That way youd have a full buff, and all aspects of that buff lasted close to the same time? Thoughts? Opinions on this?

Sounds like a good idea, especially as it would give that much more of a kick over mind buffing foods... keeping entertainer buffs salable as a source of income.

True, I'm starting to see the effect of the brandy on my selling mind buffs. Last night, someone asked me what I charge for a buff, I told him and he said, "Wow, are you kidding?!? Pass then, I still have some brandy"

*sigh*
