Ive also noticed a considerable boost in preformance. I must say that since sp2 my PC was not as good as before the patch. I immediately saw a new easeness in windows. Do not uninstall sp2 but do try this simple modification and see if it will change anything in SWG. Ill report after trying again the first mission in JTL.

this *seems* to have worked for me. I tried to fly earlier, got very discouraged becuase of the bees buzzing about. So I logged out and check this thread and found this suggestion. I made the changes and when I logged back in the problem seems to be gone. If it does come back I'll let you know.

Wel, well, well! I may have found the culprit. The fix from the link I mentioned above resolved the drunken bees problem. Here's the complete info so that you can try it yourself :

XP SP2's Data Execution Prevention and Performance Hits

Did you notice a severe performance decrease after having installed Windows XP SP2? You're not alone. Unfortunately, I lack the time for an in-depth performance comparison of XP with and without SP2. So I just ran the demo benchmark of 3DMark2001, once with SP2's new Data Execution Prevention (DEP) enabled, once disabled (I rebooted my box before running each test).

3DMark2001 results on my box (higher values are better; the absolute values don't matter here unless you're interested in the absolute 3DMark2001 performance of a Toshiba Portégé M200 with 768 MB of RAM):

XP SP2 with DEP disabled (AlwaysOff): 4601
XP SP2 with DEP enabled (OptOutOptIn, i.e. the default setting for SP2): 3299

Oh my! I did expect a performance decrease, but not such a big one! And it's even a 3D benchmark ("normal" application benchmarks might even show worse results for DEP)! So, according to these measurements (don't quote these measured results please; they're statistically not significant as I haven't measured a series of test-runs, only one run per test), enabling DEP (enabled by default after installing XP SP2) results in almost 30% lower 3DMark2001 performance! It's your choice whether the improved security of your box is worth this huge performance hit. For a server it might be (it's still alarming though), but for my M200 TabletPC, it definitely isn't. If you like to disable it too, here's how to do it:

1. disable write-protection of c:\boot.ini (see the properties dialog)
2. in c:\boot.ini, replace "/NoExecute=OptIn" by "/NoExecute=AlwaysOff" using a text editor (e.g. notepad)

this didnt work for me ....but then again maybe i did it wrong .....could someone do a step by step for those of us who dont know much about computers ....thx

Oh and the only thing that made this stop was removing the joystick.....but i want to play with the joystick not a mouse

Im just reporting that Im a victim of the drunken bees as well. Full scan didnt solve this. Reinstalldidnt either.I have :

AMD 2800+

Radeon 9800 pro

1G of ram

Asus A7N8X mobo

Directx 9.0c

It's impossible to complete the first mission. I tried dogfighting any low pirate around the station and it's impossible to hit. JTL in this state is unplayable. If the solution is to uninstall WXP sp2 patch, im returning the game. I have no problems whatsoever with the ground portion of the game nor with any of my other online games.

BTW, I dont live in EU either im in Canada.

I think its motherboard or Nforce related, judging from the Dxdiags, we all seem to have the same types of motherboards.

I myself got the problem and the motherboard too. But I just have the problem that I myself am lagging a lot myself, like getting pullback and rubberbanding every 30 seconds or so. Makes the game totally unplayable.

Well I tried the soultion that Bashar suggested but it didnt seem to have a lasting affect, thanks anyways tho. All I know is when it is working fine stay as long as you can, because next time might not be the same.

During one "druken bee" epiosde I was escorting a freighter and even tho I was flying right beside it, the freighter pilot was telling me I was too far away. It's almost as if things are out of sync. I'm certain more than ever than this is something only the Dev's can fix. Speaking of the Dev's, how big does this thread have to be before the acknowledge the problem?

This is getting pathetic, I've paid for their expansion, yet I can't play it.

Yesterday evening I discovered the same problem again. Restarted my computer and it was gone.

Now I am considering what could have been. I came to the following conclusion:

The first time I spent some time on the net and received my mails over outlook. Also was on some forums and read them.

Maybe it has to do something with the temp internet files you are receiving when surving or getting your mails....

At least all is working well again.
