Although i realize this is a harsh thing to say... it is true. In regards to the post about 30:1 ratio, I agree with it and think that jedi should be a long and painful grind. many say that this makes it impossible for some players to get jedi... thats the idea, not everyone is supposed to have one it is supposed to be special.
Like it has been stated before, i would hate to see 50 jedi running around on a server that are all casual players. Some say that there are already tons of jedi and that this way to unlock is easier than the old way. Now that depends. Many people are turned off by the grind and don't bother when they get the numbers on how long it would take. For others, it motivates them, that there is an end in sight and they have an idea of how far they are.
Now before everyone flames and posts that they hate me keep in mind that I am not a jedi yet (will be next phase), and that I speak only from my opinion. Yes it does suck for more casual players that want a jedi.. but honestly the jedi grind is much longer and more boring than this one(from what i have heard from multiple friends), so jedi isn't as beautified as it appears to be. I want to hear the points of others though so let it begin! Let me remind everyone that this is not a flame and it is just a conversation as to unlocking jedi... please keep flames at a minimum.
There is no Jedi in SWG, it is only Dathomir Mercenary squad light and dark, the jedi game is nothing but a poor attempt from soe to satisfy pvp players with favored time in game genres like quake's bloodlust.
Jedi is not a high end game, its a title for people that have spent most of their time in SWG bored out of their minds trying to achieve it, dont come and tell me its hard to become a jedi when all you have to do is repeat the same procedure over and over in an endless grind, there is noithing hard with sitting by a computer keyboard and pressing F keys over and over all it take is time and a tremendeous patience.
Statements like Jedi is not for all is more wrong they you can ever imagine, that like saying some paying customers only get half the product they have paid for.
The truth is that SOE dont give a damn about jedi or the village it an addition that where added to the game for free uit brings them no income in fact it cost them money since more and more accounts are canceled during the time players grow bored of the village grind or jedi grind.
the only reason they give a jedi a second character slot is to keep the person as a paying customer even after they are bored out of their mind with jedi.
Saying things like I dont want to see 50 jedi in Cnet every morning is the same as saying i dont want to see 50 bounty hunters there or 50 TKA masters there.
jedi is time gated with the new insainly boring village and the quests so it takes minimum 15 weeks to get to initiate adding another week for getting the bedges and waiting for the old man, Anyone can be a jedi initiate if they want to it only takes time and patience, no skills involved at all.
jedi in the movies is a religion, a cult in fact they make out many societies alone. they are the galaxy's best diplomats and advicors, negotiators, in SWG they are mercenary villains that are condemned in to solitude and isolation, with only one goal in mind to survive the next attack from a rival jedi or bounty hunter. in short they are "nothing" they have no value they dont contribute to anything (except bounty hunters that can earn credits on killing them)
the jedi game is the built in Quake engine in a massive multiplayer online Roleplaying game.
im sorry i dont want to insult jedi, but the fact are they are worthless, SWG would not miss their absence at all, life would go on, but take away doctor or entertainers or Armor smiths or weaponsmiths or almost any other profession from the game, and the game would suffer from it, there is in fact only one profession that do not hold any value and that jedi.
And yes Jedi is for all, also casual players, even people with full time jobs or school its in the game and that the only reason it is for all, making it harder to get to jedi status is in vain, it only delay the problem they are trying to avoid, in one year it will still be thousands of accounts with jedi toons just as wortless as they are today. making the game boring is not the way to go, the village have proven to be a mistake the village is only boring time consuming grind nothing more, it has nothing to do with challenge or skills only time. and its for all not an elite.

grinding is fun sometimes.... especially with the mission payout nerf i am harvesting meat now too from things, adds some content but it still does get boring especially if there is no one around to chat with.
Then you have taken the first step to improving the economy. I have a master armorsmith and one of the most difficult things I have to deal with is finding hunters willing to sell bone and hide. Previously, they had to reason to because they made so much money off of missions. If more people would harvest bone and hide to sell then I armorsmiths could buy more which could eventually bring a price drop in armor.
This is why I was all for the group nerf... it should have been done long ago.

Did you even READ my first post? I STATED LETS REMAIN CONSTRUCTIVE I WANT TO HEAR YOUR OPINIONS, PLEASE DO NOT FLAME. Tell me how I was starting a flame post?
Dude what did you expect with a post that had such a blatantly inciteful tagline to it.
And as a self admitted "casual player" does that now mean that you have no buisness with Jedi as well? I suspect you would be on of the upset people flaming this post if you were not so close to Padawan status.

Doesn't matter what the scale is used to determine betterIf it's time, then it's time. If it's skill, then it's skill. If it's knowledge, then it's knowledge. For a large portion of Jedi, it's time invested...actually, for most professions in the game it's time. So yes, more time = better. Doesn't make sense to say that, but that's what it is. Honestly...what other skill is there in SWG? I already said that there are areas including preparation, awareness, intelligence, etc. that separates elite PvP'ers from the rest, but really...it can only go so far. What...can you 'swing' your saber better than everyone else or something? Simple fact...you spend more time getting items than the next guy, you have better items, thus you are better for the most part. I'm not saying it's right, but I'm saying that's how it is.

I dont complain about the grind because it takes a long time. I complain about the grind because it is a lame way to become a Jedi. I would rather have real quests that teach and enforce the Jedi Code and ways, then a mindless grind.
This iswhat the pad trials are for IMO... youre supposed to learn from each of the 16quests and act as a jedi would, thats where I'm at now and its really starting to get me in the jedi rp aspect... finally.
*Edit*
Er.. I meant to quote Camrux
