First thing you should know, is that for all of the pilot profession you must complete all of the quests before training.

This means even if you have enough XP to train in a skill box you can't untill you have finnished all of the missions.

It is like the Force Senstive quests, expect instead of opening a Colum of skill boxes you open a row of them.

That's not true. If you have the xp to train, you must finish ONE mission from the trainer to be able to train the skill. Then another mission before the next box, and so on.

I played beta for 1 day(about 3 hours). Here is my great story.

I made an Ithorian and messed around with him for a little while, just trying out all the new emotes and looking at people wearing hooded cloaks.. Was excited, but I grew a dislike for Ithorian.. since you couldnt get the armor off the character builder..

So, I thought I would try out space.. I wanted to become an imperial pilot. But since I got searched as I ran to the guy to start the training, and I ran away from the ST, I went into negative Imp FP, and realized I guess I have to be imp to do it. So I flew my Flash Speeder around a bit, then went on my sorosub out in space. I was rather disappointed at space since this sorosub is pretty difficult to fly due to it being very massive..

At this point my friends logged onto beta.. and after talking to them for a little while we decided to go up on a sorosub and have a little party. So we got in a group and he launched us into space. After loading I realized that even though I was in the ship, I wasnt really in the ship, as I could run right out of the ship and into space.. I relogged and was back in the ship. After a little while the server kicked everyone and when I came back, guess what.. I was stuck in space again! I logged out, never to return..

My story isn't cool, it's more of a sad story.

I got into second stage beta being an old fart and all.

I logged into it and figured I'd check out how my competition had it, so I went Imperial Pilot and launched my Tie Fighter.

Wow great graphics, flying is cool and even enjoyable with a joystick ( get one !) whatever !!!

damn you devs, you're killing me here !!

Let's take a look at reality, ok ?

SWG ( I guess we now call the old game the ground game) so ...... SWG ground game, I play my Jedi that I love, thank you very much.

I play my merchant, soon to be a shipwright after the 20 some hours of skill advancement.

Now here's where the math fall short.

A day in real life on planet earth is 24 hours.

Playing my Jedi 4 - 6 hours a day

Doing my merchant thing6 hours a day.

Trying to work up on shipwright4 hours a day.

2 meals a day,45 minutes if cooking. 30 minutes if delivery of something.

Using the "facilities" because all the empty cans of rebull are now full ! 10 minutes

Answering the phone the 6th time that family member called, them hanging up after 5 minutes of non sensible , uh - huh's from mke because I'm fighting Night Sisters.

Feeding and getting water forthe pets. 5 minutes.

Spending an hour with the spouse when they get home from work.

Spending 10 minutes failing miserably at trying to convince them that I wasn't up all night playing that "damn game."

Spending 30 minutes with the spouse before they head off to work again.

Spending another 10 minutes failing miserably at trying to convince them that I took a nap.

Sleeping for 90 minutes while the server does daily maint.

So, to now playJTL where do the extra 12 hours come from that I need for working on mypilot? huh ? huh ? tell me, please I'd really like to know !!

Yeah, thanks, thanks a lot for making the expansion a wonderful piece of gaming that is just another thing to keep me addicted to SWG !

/end failing miserably @ sarcasm !

Is this correct? There is a Hoth system? Would be real nice......I was hoping they would add Hoth as a plaent in the future. Cloud City would be sweet too.

Doh! Maybe next expansion then. I need to hunt some Wampa.

I dunno why, but I'm happy to hear someone say that. Good to know that people believe there actually will be a next expansion. I've heard theories that give the servers about 6 months before they shut down...but if JTL is as good as it seems to be, hopefully I'll be able to log on and make a fool of myself once I'm old enough to buy alcohol!

Some people hoped that JTL would be the saving grace of SWG...I think their wish has been fulfilled.

Yay!

Those that know me on the Flurry forums know I've been a pretty up-front critic of the SWG ground portion. I came into JtL Beta with a hefty load of skepticism and more than a few chips on my shoulder. I've gamed since the days of Adventure on Unix mainframes, through Amnesia and Wizardry I on an Apple IIc, to UO, EQ, AO, DAoC, back to EQ (no, I didn't learn my lesson the first time!) and now SWG and JtL Beta. I can't say I've seen it all, but I've seen most of it.

In the beginning of Beta, we beat on the systems, the ships, the new professions (Pilot and Shipwright), and the space content. We b#$ched, we wheedled, we begged, we moaned- we weren't as nice as we could (or should) have been. I wasn't the only one in Beta with a "Yeah, right" attitude.

The JtL Developers care, friends. They care a lot. It took awhile for them to show themselves, but once JustG let them out of their cubes and onto the Beta boards to talk with us, it was clear they are folks who want what we want. We didn't get everything we asked for - we got more. You're going to find an Expansion worthy of Live release. You're going to find a Dev team that'll listen. You'll find a Dev team that'll take a bug report, test it themselves, and if it's legit, fix it. When we saw that, we applauded - loudly and raucously.

If there's one thing that I hope carries forward from JtL Beta to the Live boards and the future, it's the open communcation lines between Us and Them.

I'd suggest you read JustG's Developer's Diary recently posted on the main site. That ain't propaganda. That's real.

Veterans, wait 'till you go up in your yacht. You will be amazed.

If you pre-ordered, you'll like the Flash Speeder.

Now that I've waxed almost rhapsodic about JtL, let's get some things clear:

There will be things you'll love about JtL. There'll be things that'll take some getting used to. And there'll be things you don't like. JtL is not the perfect Expansion any more than SWG is the perfect game, or any more than WoW is going to be the perfect game. If there's one thing I learned from JtL Beta, it's that the perfect game does not exist. But I'll tell you this much for sure - for what JtL is intended to be, it's pretty damned good.

What the Dev team did in JtL bodes very well for "the ground game" and the upcoming combat rebalances, the GCW, and all of that.

I'd like to close with this:

Let's all stop yelling at the Devs and start talking to them. I say this knowing that if you reach back into my live side posting history, you'll find me saying some pretty nasty$41t now and then. The communcation we had with the Devs in JtL Beta showed them to be as human as we are, and that they want the same things for SWG we want. Put yourself in their shoes, take your nastiest post and read as though it was directed to you. That ought to do it!

If you've got an issue, post intelligently about it. Take the time to describe it as well as you can. Imagine yourself writing it up as though you're on the QA team.

No friends, I haven't been assimilated by the SOE Borg - not everything is going to be all sweetness and light going forward. But I will say this much: I was ready to quit SWG to take up WoW and EQII when I started JtL Beta. Now I'm staying. I will play WoW and EQII until I've made up my mind about which of those I like, but I'll only play one of them. I'm sticking with SWG. I want to see where this road goes next. It might just be more fun than I bargained for.

Flying around as a gunner for a Y-Wing.

Me and my guild mate going out in a team of 2 to do missions, there was a good hour there where we took on all NPC challangers and took almost no damage.

Walking around my vet ship while someone else flew it.

More cool moments than I can really talk about and list

Devs, I have a complaint. Your dang graphics on the JTL site made everything look crappy! YOU LIED THROUGH PICTURES!!!!

Those graphics look amazing. And the Black Sun fighters...wow. I'm not surprised you saved them until the end.

Since the NDA is up, and you guys have all played on Beta, can you answer a few questions for me? I know they've been asked before, but I'll ask them all anyway.

1. How many fighters are you allowed?

You know, I have no idea??? I built and flew everything on the Allaince side, but I never checked to see how many ships I had in my datapad at once. Hold for an official response on this one... 8( Sorry.

2. How customisable is your paintwork? I saw someone's Y-Wing with pretty cool decoration on...do you get to pick patterns?

Yes. As of last night, there are six "texture kits" and a separate paint tool. The texture kits add the paint "pattern", and the paint tool applies the paint to that pattern.

3. If you change your paintwork, is it permenant, or does it fade?

Mine never faded no matter how many times I got waxed by the Empire! Truth is, I don't know about the "fade" issue ala Droid and Speeder paint duration.

4. The Nova Courier...what does it look like?

This is a personal opinion. Of the three battle-capable multi-player ships, the Imperial Decimator is the coolest, the YT-1300 is second, and the Nova (Alliance) is third. I've flown all three, ran around inside 'em, and ooh'ed at this and aahh'ed at that. But that Decimator stole my heart - it just exudes evil. I have a screenshot of the Nova interiors somewhere. If I can find it, I'll post back as an edit on this reply with the Imagedump link.

5. What do the new ships fly like - Agressor and Opressor specifically.

Oops - can't answer that one. I flew the Alliance fighter classes from Y-Wings through B-Wings.

Thanks for that in advance.

Now...TH...if you see this, please pass my sentiments onto your collegues:

Congratulations, Devs. If the game is half as good as these guys say, and the screenies show...wow. JTL looks worth the wait. Forget everything bad everyone's said about your dedication to this expansion. It looks like every second you've spent on it has been put to good use. And, from what people are saying, it works, straight off. The ground game may have gotten off to a bad start...but JTL more than makes up for that. The graphics that people are taking screen shots of...they're as good as the movies you've released to us. I'd NEVER have believed we'd get those in game. But it looks like we're getting them. I am genuinely wow'd...and I think there are a lot of gamers that will be too. Everything that I'd have wanted in JTL (all the important stuff, anyway) is there. The graphics look amazing. The interphase looks great. The missions sound superb. Congratulations Devs...you've done yourselves proud.

Now...if I fly through a black hole, will it make my copy of JTL come any faster?

Black holes you say? Done. In fact, there are two. You'll see...beware The Maw!

Oh, yeah. Can we get info on the other ships for the Friday Feature? Please? *begs*

Hum cool stories.

1. The PVP weekend event. I engaged 6 enemy rebels. Took out 2 fighters before they got me.

Also I killed 2 Rebel Nov's. I came in from the Sun Japanese Zero style. By the time they saw

me it was too late. The 2nd nova killed me at the same time it blew up.

2. Got stuck in space without a ship (see my Vash Dance video it's hilarious) and was dancing.

3. Was in last wipes Blue Frog Dance Troupe. While everyone was freaking out waiting for it to be dropped

we had fun.
