I agree that an in game system of "trying on" would be very useful. Before I found SWG I used to play a very, very, very simplistic MMORG called YO HO HO Puzzel Pirates it had a lot of (scaled back) features of SWG. But it offeres a tailoring shop where your character could go in and try stuff on "off the rack" once you moved outside you would revert to what you wore into the shop. My point is that if a cheap/simple game like Puzzel Pirates could do this surely the folks at SOE couild make it happen.

We'lls ee what the JTL release will bring.

I've found that 9 times out of 10, the customer has no clue what they want, and they have no idea what the names for the non-primary colors are. One woman I had in insisted she wanted something made in a dark brick red. No problem. But yet she wasn't satisfied. Finally I made her something in burgandy and she was happy. Brick red and burgandy are two very different reds to most tailors. And so we are still stuck remaking items and wasting time and resources on customers who are clueless as to what out palettes contain and how certain items are not able to be made in certain colors.

I don't see any fun in talking to a customer who insists that his or her outfit just won't look right without bright red boots. Grrr lol

LOL I agree I get that all the time. I tell them sorry we cannot make them at this time, and refer them to a pair of red composite armor or padded armor boots.

Most often, thecustomer gives me carte blanche to make something that he/she'd look good in. It's rare that they want to compare specifics, but at that point, you are dealing with a clothes horse for SURE! My in-game husband is that way. He wants to tweak colours, and check the lengths of different items to get the perfect look.

For 95% of the time though, it's pretty easy with a few questions to find out what they want. I also direct them to some online catalogues to see.

An interface, such as described here would be awesome, especially if you could combine it with the ID-interface. Somehow unifying all those different colorpallettes for crafting and ID to atleast give us the chance to match different pieces of cloth and ID-options would be a great help. But it's not easy to implement. But NJ and me will not stop bugging the powers that be about stuff like that

I wholeheartedly agree! Some of my most difficult custom clothing customers have become tailors, even if for a short period of time, just so they could see what was out there for them to make. Usually later I'll get an apology from them for being so demanding.

I think their punishment should be to run through Theed or Coronet with their master Tailor tag on. Ack, I wouldn't do that to my worst enemy!

I always think that people who are obesessed with clothes and always having the perfect look shoudl become tailors.

I completely, whole heartedly agree. It sucks the FUN outta tailoring and then no one would shop from vendors anymore, they'd ALL want custom fittings!!! ick

More than likely if something like that ever made it into the game... I'd be done tailoring in a heartbeat!!!! Of course I'd make myself clothes for life first. Seriously... that makes MORE work. It is very hard to FIND an image designer (since the changes), if this went live I'm afraid there would be very few tailors.

I don't quite understand what you mean. Are you saying that you don't make any credits from tailoring? That's all wrong. It's true that all other crafting professions have more money in it, but tailors aren't broke. One day I made over 100k and during five days I also made 100k, on selling normal clothes.

I'm not so sure I think it's a good idea. But then I think you would have to be the faction which armor you want to craft. And to wear it would probably require you to be overt. Then it wouldn't be so covet and not sell much.

Faction Uniforms is fine, but leave armour to armoursmiths.

Skill mods would be good, but not armour rating and resists.

And as for low market.... I probably need not debate on the money issue as most tailors simply do not worry about this but i will anyway, because im on a nightshift and im bored.

All crafters start of slow and gain more income as they gain reputation in their chosen proffession, crafters require patience to make a name and to hence make money, and thats just the start of things. Tailors are probably one of the slowest to get going, ive never been as dedicated to another crafting proffession to really compare.

Fact is someone can become a Tailor and play for one month, surrender with the impression tailors are not big money makers. A Tailor for 16 months may tell you they have so much money that money means nothing to them anymore, And that they simply enjoy being a tailor. But the same can probably be said about any crafter.

No i myself am not a tailor but this is an idea that would Give tailors an item that would be more sought after, it would also pull tailors into the Galatic Civil war (factional Tailors) without haveing them be in PvP or PvE.

Im not argueing some tailors make money im just giveing something new and that decays to where its not useful anymore that people would buy again.

Not saying all tailors are broke but i am saying for the newer tailors (i myself am not one) its hard for them to break into the buisness simply because the world is flooded with clothes that do not decay(i guess you could make them decay and poof but that would start an uproar that id not like to go into) and dissapear from the game.

This idea would not replace Armorsmith in anyways and you could even lower the Resist on there to say 25% if need be and if you must involve Armorsmith make it so you need to buy Kenetic resist components or whatever youd like, why not even make it only 1 special resist may go into it but just an idea that would add more Factional uniforms into the game that people would wear other than just for roleplaying purposes.

Ok i was thinking about Tailor and realized that your Market for things is extremly low in most cases. Meaning in almost 2 years you have recived almost nothing at all in the form of help for your proffession since the servers are pretty much flooded with clothing items and they dont seem to go to uselessness on Decay, the BE clothing did help some but i have another idea that might help more.

Faction Uniforms that act like light Armor.

Now this idea only works in the old system as i dont fully understand the new system coming in the CU but it would work like this.

All Faction Uniforms, would be created by a Tailor as they are now but have light resists on them say 40% tops to things and serve with ZERO encumbrence/penelty's. They would Decay just like armor, Not be as good as Armor and certainly wont replace Armor but would however let you have a very good thing to grind in per say on low mobs that you dont need high level armor on.

The cost of these should be made low to make so they are not to terribly expensive but since they Decay like Armor does it would be a renewable clothing item for Tailor and again this adds Starwarsyness to the Galaxy if more people ran around in Officer uniforms and Flight suits and Hoth wear and Jungle wear.

Maybe even possibly allowing BE tissues into these items as well?? or maybe that would be a bit much but still if this idea has been posted before then i am sorry but if it hasnt tell me what you think about it.
