someone mentioned about the graphics: if you can run SWG now, space expansion should be no problem. space games generally run a lot better than other games, as they only have to worry about ships and random stuff floating around. it cuts out all of the terrain and such, which should help performance. however, dont take my word for it, it may not turn out to be easy to run, depending on the detail of the ships, and optimization.
as others have said, the datapad bothers me. i found it bad enought that vehicles can be stored in your pants, but whipping a whole starfighter outta there? its a wee bit absurd. i wouldnt mind having it stored there, so long as you have to go to a spaceport where there are ships like yours so that it gives the effect of you having your ship parked there.
a-wings and b-wings are either just being developed or still in the development stages at this point. at best, maybe in some sort of prototype stage. but not distributed among the ranks of the Alliance fleet.
the twitch based combat is actually good to hear, provided we're not sitting through long stretches of flight with nothing to do, like the first Wing Commander game. I have a feeling that RPG style skill sets will still have a major function though. Perhaps in certification, or special manuevers or attacks that can be used. I doubt the entire space engine will be 100% twitch based.
as for the Millenium Falcon. With the exception of the large radar dish and dual Quad cannons, it looks like any other YT-1300. It did not have "warp" drives as someone pointed out (good lord i am such a geek for doing this), and it's cargo bays we're secret, scanner-resistant holds. it also had it's missile launcher tucked inside it's forward section. it's sublight engines, while heavily modified and replaced, *looked* similar to other engines. hyperdrive partsare apparently all internal in the SW universe.
The MF was a one of kind ship, no doubt. But the model it was originally, the YT-1300..is/was very very common.
I think it is pretty well accepted that this is not going to happen. You will probably just go to a SP, select your ship from your datapad, and poof, you're in space.

IGNPC: Where do ships reside? Is there a special docking area on each planet? Some sort of sub-orbital hitching post? Do players actually take off and land manually or does the game just warp the player between the planet surface and the stars?
Haden Blackman: Craft are stored on a player's datapad, similar to the storage of vehicles in the base game. Players deploy ships at Starports that currently serve as shuttle depots in the more populated cities.
Notice that Shug responds to the first part of the IGN question, but dodges the second part. As others have already posted, I'm very concerned that you will /deployShip out of your Datapad, right click on the ship, choose "Enter Ship," and then sit through another 30 to 60 second loading screen while "space loads."
Please let us fly out of, and land in, spaceports!!!

Great... cant wait to see 10 billion "Millenium Falcons" flying all over the place...
I seriously hope that the "MF" ship is not a player-owned craft...
Mercenary crafts were SIMILAR to the "MF" but not every player should have
the EXACT SAME "MF" template as Han-Solo...
His ship was unique.
As in that was the ONLY one in existance, anywhere.
The Millennium Falcon is a heavily modified Corellian Engineering Corporation YT-1300. It was already old when A New Hope's events were shown, and was extremely common throughout the galaxy.
I should hope we would see a lot of them.

The core of the crowd that bought this is the RPGers
I dont think that is correct according to the polling done in these boards. Most people who read these boards bought the game because they are StarWars fans, not RPG fans. Consider me in the SWFan club. I really dont like RPGs much. I enjoy SWG, I hate the combat queue.
The board doesn't make up but a percentage of players. It's also, as you point out, been addressed that it's a small percent of players that post (look it up). I've been on here since the start and the many months of seeing posts there's 1 - 5 out of 40- 100 that say "Star Wars fan, yadda yadda, bought because of fan, yadda yadda, can't you make it action oriented". If those numbers have changed, that's a failure of Sony to not address the core. I mean fine, if there's enough that really want X-Wing vs Tie Fighter pt 2, how about a complete seperate game as I pointed out? Leave this game as it's title says it is.
That is one good thing that Star Wars Commandos and Star Wars Battlefront will do. Those who are wanting Galaxies to be that type of game will finally have their shooter and will move on. I'll buy them too, but continue to play Galaxies. Well unless the LEET DOODs finally 100% win out, then I move on and let them all have it. I'll watch the toilet flush from afar.
i am rather sure this screenshot has a tie advanced, so it is in as well.

i would hope that the firefly class ship is not included in here, besides possibly being a rare npc ship. for those that dont know, this is the class of ship that slave one is (Fett's ship), and are very rare in the SW universe.

All I want to know is whether space-related professions will use the same 250XP pool or a separate (if any) XP pool. In other words, if I have 0 XP left after mastering current combat professions, will I still be able to become an effective figher pilot?
In an old dev post from months ago we were told that the SE would add skill points that would be useable only for "Space Expansion Skills". The number they were kicking around at the time was 100 points. I would find it and link it but I'm feeling a tad lazy. ![]()
