Mandolarian Warrior you are way off. First off all species talk the same now anyway and languages mean nothing in this game. Second, if you really want to Roleplay starwars then this game is not how to do it, get a real Dice and paper Starwars roleplaying game. Thirdly voice chat would be optional so if you dont use it you still have your way. Fourhtly how the heck would you know what species is flying in that other ship. Fifthly voice communciation could add to immersion as every space battle in Starwars has voice communciation between pilot's and it would provide great oppurtunity for roleplaying. Sixthly you could add some species sound effects that could be used over voice chat. Seventhly your point of view is such a minority niche opinion/viewpoint it would be plain selfish for you to think that it should dictate the availability of such a major game feature that would add value, fun, and ease of use to the vast majority of the community.

Wow, you are not up on your Star Wars knowledge are you? I'll admit mine pales in comaprison to hardcores, but I know at least about all this stuff, let me start wit hthe Nightsisters:

Yes they "existed" for a long time, but the first contact the Alliance/New Republic have with them is well after ROTJ (6 or so years after,I think) and the only contact the Empire has is Palpatine keeping a batallion stationed there to make sure none of them leave the planet (and none come in....hmmm Starports right on planet...yeah that's not in violation of the continuuity). Also the Nightsisters should be riding Rancors.

B-Wings were designed by Admiral Ackbar sometime around the battle of Hoth (shortly before or after) and were not readily produced and used until after ESB. A-Wings as well were a experimental craft that weren't in production unitl shortly before the battle of Endor. TIE-Advanced were a failed experiment, that Vader was able to modify and use, but his was one of the few used by the Empire at all.

Corellia of course existed, but at this point in the timeline has essentially shut down it's borders, especially to rebels. It is heavily controlled by the Empire and the Correlian Diktaat being appointed of sorts by the Empire. It is so secluded that Corran Horn had to have himself smuggled into the planet even though he was a respected member of CorSec. And Han wasn't able to visit until 12-13 years after RoTJ...and it wasn't because he was a criminal either.

The number of Jedi in existance was less than a dozen, and some of those were darksiders being trained by the Emporer. The number of Force Sensitives that even knew what that was or meant were only in the several hundred at best. I think there is no way anyone could argue a justification for as many jedi as there are running around now, let alone once Pub 9 goes live. Jedi Councils, Holocrons, etc. All super super rare or nonexistant in knowledge at this point.

The Temples on Y4 were used, yeah, but no one knew what they were. Certainly no one knew that the spirit of Exar Kun still resided somewhere in one of them, otherwise Luke never would have put the academy there. Just as small proof of this, the rebels used one of those temples as they're base of operations without knowing that it had any significance to jedi, the force, Exar Kun or anything else.

And Naboo was a planet that had no significance whatsoever until Episode 1. In this timeline, ANH gave no indication of anything about Naboo especially since "the Emporer's Retreat" Ithin kwould be of significant strategic value in a war. If it is in such control, I'm sure there wouldn't be overt Rebels running around at all. Certainly Thrawn, who should be in the Unknown Regions, wouldn't be "hanging out" there, and neither would Vader or the Emporer...those 2 should be on Coruscant and not able to be seen, considering in the movies there was a scene cut in which Vader is denied entrance into the Emporers chambers because he didn't have clearance (until he choked the officer and went in anyway). I highly doubt just anyone should be able to walk in and talk to him.

I could go on and on, there is plenty more...

FOr the record, My character is Human, I dont play Dice with paper... and I am all for Voice Chat, but not in SWG... think of it like this... Your flying you land... you stop chatting in space? what about ground? guess what there is no ground Chat???? so that this would be dumb if there was..... because you would have to go back thinking of the Voices of that character in space... Vice the voice in your head you think of that character in your mind as something different? GRASP the concept now? Or still Beffudled by your Selfish desire for Technology over a Good game... THIS IS NOT STAR WARS BATTLE FRONT nor RAINBOWSIX and will NEVER be no matter how you put it , this is a MMORPG....

and yes you did make some good points on the Content itself, but i guess all these had their own flaw in development... cause the players had to get what they wanted... (to see the emperor+Vader+thrawn) and as they made the Droids rebuilt... dont you think that is farfetched? and I Still dont know why they didnt implement Rancors being Ridden By the NightSisters...

There is difference between the ground game, and the soon to be space game.In theground game, u don't have to worry about if your cross hair is exactly right so you will be able to hit your target. Plus, on ground you also don't have to worry about dodging your enemies fire, or physical things like that. In the ground game you just press a button to attack, and well, you attack. This is why voice chat on the ground game is not drastically needed.

In the space game, you do have to worry about being exact, and more than ever the dev team stated, "space is a dangerous place". Space is not "Turn-based" or in the long run based on if your weapon is sliced or not. What matters is how good you are flying and firing precisely.

Talking to your wingmen should not hinder you from your flying skills. Voice chat would bring you to your full potental.

Also, you stated this is not like "Star Wars: Battleground", well indeed it is. Battleground is twitch based which is the same as JTL. I have read that in Battleground you will have the ability to jump into a x-wing or tie-fighter and fly around too.

The creators of Battleground have forseen the troubles with typing and twitch play, so they decided to let it support voice chat (a smart move indeed). I don't see why JTL should be any different.

Oh, and P.S. - Thank you for bumping our thread with all your spamming posts............

JTL is still a MMORPG!!!!! meaning Roleplay is a MAJOR role in the game... *BattleGrounds is a Strategy Based game* PC only

its a dumb idea, because the point of a RPG in this case in space is to still act like your In star wars, And if your chatting with ppl online it will take a peice of star wars away! and of course theres those weird people that Play as a Girl and boys of the opposite sex.... and of course the ppl who are of a different Speices talking like humans???? NO WAY drop this thread its the dumbest IDEA for SOE since The Begining of Release,

Jeez Mando.. have a little imagination. You seem to have missed the point. Your not going to be chatting with just anyone online. You will be communicating using voice with your group during space flight and combat.

I dont see how it can take a peice of Star Wars away.

I can't think of a pilot in Star Wars that didNOT usea headset and voice to communicate with other ships.

I honestly don't have a problem with "wierd" people who play the opposite gender. Apparently you do and need some therapy to be able to deal with it.

Languages and races? Why should they start having those mean anything now. You can learn every language in the game in 5 minutes! Do you think I should start howling like a wookiee if I am flying a starfighter as one? Actually sounds like fun LOL.

From a role playing standpoint... I don't ever remember a DM or GM in pen, paper, dice RPGs ever forcing us to learn the actual dialects and languages of the imaginary races and creatures we played. A few words here and there might be thrown in for fun, buts thats basically it.

So tell me again how being able to actually talk to people your flying into combat with is not roleplaying or is not Star Warsy enough?
