2 skills away from master pilot before the a.i. change: 100+ hours, 1 broken joystick, 2 blisters

Missions failed: Countless

Group members used: Countless

Fending off FPS Jockeys on the forums: 100+ hours

Hours spent playing after the a.i. change: 1 (maybe 2)

Hours spent actually playing the game at all after the a.i. change (0, I spent more time just chatting with friend

wait, do I really have to pay 15$ a month to do that?)

Having a dev tapdance the issue and basically tell you tough fecesthat you can't play the game:

Priceless

all i know is on TC the only thing i can keep up with a 65 speed engine(i know, not that good, but best ive found) is a Y-wing, and thats at like 10% of my throttle. Everything else flys away from me fast, does a turn, flies at me. When i can turn inside them its fine, but with the A-wings being as fast as they are, all they do is fly in, fly out. The A-wings are even going too fast for themselves. Fighting a A-wing now, i never get hit, because by the time the a-wing is facing me, its past me. I think the speed needs to be tweaked down a bit on some tiers, other than that its fine. i guess ill comment later when i get a better engine.

I know some of you will complain that you have to start from scratch on Test Center. Honestly, it does not take very long to get through the first few tiers of JTL. Thanks for playing.

AI for space is now totally boring and the ships are excessively fast. I'm a Privateer at 3/4/3/3.

It's pointless to continue playing JTL when the entire time I just sit in one spot in space (Weeeee.....) and flip around to meet the enemy ships head on, and have the enemy ships charge at me and obliterate me because it's 5 on 1 and they're ridiculously faster than me. My front shield and armor are all that matter, because dogfighting in space only involves meeting a squad of enemies head-on and getting pummeled, only to turn around and have them come at you again head-on. Boooooring.

It is NOT FUN. IT IS NOT CHALLENGING. It's making me not play JTL. That's all it's doing.

Used to be that TIEs would swoop all around, and do some crazy turns, and you'd have to track 'em and keep them in your sights. Now they just ZAP ZAP ZAP your shield away because the 4 of them are all coming at you head-on, then they zip past you and turn around, and ZAP ZAP ZAP ZAP you haven't disabled one of them, but your shields are toast and your front armor is at 10%.

Does that sound like fun to you? I don't care if you're on TC or in Live, that's NOT FUN.

So, pretty please, with sugar on top - bring the fun back to JTL. Having ships run circles around you and shredding your front shield/armor while the back shield/armor is inconsequential is the height of tedium.

Yes, it depends on what you're in as well. A friend of mine has an Awing that goes 1500 with boost, and his optimum turning speed is 1002. He can keep up with the AI quite well.

So, that means that each pilot will now have to develop unique tactics. I'm wondering why that is a bad thing? People not wanting to think and strategize?

There's just not much strategy to it. I'm in a ship that can pretty much keep up with tier 4 and 5 ships without much trouble and it's just plain boring. All I do is to follow them, shooting at their very exposed rear end while they fly straight ahead. There's not much room for strategy at all...

The NPC ships need a speed nerf, they should really never be this much faster than your average player ship. These normal tier 1-5 ships are the "grunts", they shouldn't have ships that can outperform PC ships this badly. In fact, I would suggest that they should almost never outperform PC ships in this way, unless they are in a hyperfast TIE interceptor and the PC is in a B-wing.

The current speed and maneuvering would work on special, boss type NPC ships and special, elite NPC squadrons. Just not you average Joe-TIE pilot.

Duly noted and accepted.

Uh, if you want us to do your job for you (testing and balance) then perhaps you should do everything possible to facilitate us donating our time for a never ending beta batch of code. Leave the frogs in and there is no need for us to waste time leveling when we have it done on live already.

I honestly don't think Mr. Super game designer swgdevmbogue even cares what we think of the

new a.i. If he did would not have posted that almost robotic and seemingly cut and pasted response

with 'thank you for playing' at the end of it like we just got a sandwich at the drivethru at McDonalds.

I kinda got the feeling of no remorse, no emotion from that response of his. As though he thinks the

change is great so there for all of us must suffer through it. Even though the now master pilots that

seem to think the change is so great, mastered pilot when the enemy ship's speeds were still

within reason. It's too bad too, I was really looking forward to that YT1300 and I had just learned

some new tactics to help with the old a.i. only to be creamed with this new stuff. Oh well as usual

when dealing with SOE /bendover Here's my 15$, sir. I sure do like that new a.i., sir. Never

mind I can't play the game, here's my 15$ anyway, sir. Now, I'll get back to playing the boring ground

game like a good little sheep and forget that space even existed. Yesa Massa, I'll play the ground

game. Thank ya massa for letting me know just how unimportant my 15$ is.

Problem is that it takes time to raise a pilot in order to test fully high level ships.
I would love to help (what I'm doing by beeing part of the CU test team). But

For the concern about AI, it's currently boring because once in the tail of an ennemy ship it keep turning on the same side. But if you make the ennemy ships making manoeuvre (which would be cool), combats would take ages considering the armor of Tier 5 ships.
Balance has to be found between these 2 things.

I am gonna have to say the changes put in sucks, what fun is it to go head to head over and over, and only have 1-2 seconds of good firing time. What a bunch of crap i want to appluad SOE for taking a game expansion that was really fun to play and turning it to crap in record time. Gratz SOE Gratz.

I mostly see thatthe Tie's in Kessell are insanley fast now, it's not like they weren't fast before?

Killing one takes forever now. Takes them a fraction to get out of fire range even when I'm chasing them using boosters and going over 1000 clicks in speed. These guys must have a regular speeed without boosters of 1500 I'm guessing.

Notice the dev hasn't come back. LOL. he's too busy coding in the new changes to the a.i. and NPC ships.

- NPC ships now have 'player profile seeking never miss kung fu grip laser blasters'

- Increased NPC ship speed 1000 fold

- Disabled all joysticks with more than 1 button

- Disabled all keyboard commands

- Increased the hitpoints of Tie Fighters to 1 million

- Gave NPC ships the ability to warp in and out of reality at will, they will now warp out of reality

when near death and warp backfully healed

- Player ships can no longer roll

- Player ships can no longer boost

- Player ships can no longer accelerate

- Removed targeting reticle and increased lag around nebulas

- NPC ships will now only spawn around nebulas

- Previous Master Pilots will now be the only ones certified for any player crafted ship

- Increased capitol ships firing range to across the entire sector

- Captiol ships can no longer be destroyed

Still too easy, dang....ok wait for the next update when we start putting random deathstars with 1 Trillion hitpoints

that can move at warp speed and turn on a .0000000001 radius. Muahahaha now gimme' your 15$

Yes, it DOES take a while to get through JTL on test. Main reason?

Very few shipwrights, no money to buy ship parts. We can't just summon our ship parts like developers can. We have to track down a friendly shipwright

trust me on this one. No it doesnt take a long time, someone has a vendor with low lvl ships for 1 credit, and all the equipment youll need to get started, once in space, making money to keep up with your current lvl of pilot is simple.

so it's not as hard as you might think it is on TC

Trystim you should get some moisturiser for your hands. Apply it twice a day and you shouldn't have any problem with blisters anymore
