Thread: The Jedi StarFighter

Always room for the Jedi starfighter MK 1 (ie Obi-wan's fighter in Attack of the Clones)
I'd settle for an answer from SOE as to WHY this was implemented in this particular fashion.

I myself dont think this is right, you only have to look at the most recent film to see the fighter used by Obi Wan, as sure rebel as Luke.
all JEDI get the JSF
all the imp get all the ties and the big ships (cant remember names)
and all the rebs get all the different a-z or what ever it ships + a few other big ones to make it even. (rebels get the Arc cause it looks more like a rebel ship tbh.)
Exactly... the space part of the game is to do with skills, manuvers and ship parts... Reflexs are important, though p v p would simply not be fun if all of one side had the moxt manuverable, quickest and best armed ship... and the other side didn't... Also, a speak from experience, there is a feel-good-factor of piloting the jsf. It rolls and yaws well, its fun to pilot, and it sure kiks alot of npc craft. A rebel myself, i dropped 4 3 3 3 reb to get it, and grind my way back up... but i think it should be open to all sides, to make pvp fair (i know people say they dont need a JSF, but for novices - of which i am in the pvp world - a manuverable ship means the world).
So its not as simple as that robz...

For those who dont realize why both ships are faction specific, here are several reasons. For one, doesnt anyone notice the striking resembalence betweem the JSF and Tie, and the ARC and X-Wing? Both ships were used by the Republic, but when it turned into the Empire, the two starship companies that manufactured ARC's and JSF's seperated into an Imperial company and a secretly working Rebel company (the ones who made the ARC's).
I think it fits quite nicely how the ARC's are used by Rebels, and the JSF's by Imperials. Also, your doing the quests specifically for your faction. Would a Rebel work for Vader just the same as an Imperial would free some walking carpetsfrom an Imperial prison?
I wouldn't have a problem if they could be traded perhaps, but it would be sort of like seeing a Rebel flying a Tie. Everyone can fly Grevious' ship because it was never really a faction specific company that produced them.
Also, the ARC isn't so bad. As much as I love the JSF much more, I still drool when I see the ARC. It's a 3 seater, and it's not like it's any weakling. If you equip properly, it can be a deadly match for any JSF.
i kinda see where your coming from but there is one major issue....
the JSF as seen in ep3 was built by kuat systems and was based on the modifications that anakin had made to the jedi fighter that was seen in ep2.
grievous' ship was sort of faction specific as it was built by the IG banking clan and modified to spec for grievous. technically the IG banking clan would be considered rebel. the rebeled against the control of the republic and as such had no place within the empire which is why sidious had vader kill them all.
Good point, but at this point in the timeline, the IG Banking clan isn't really what it once was. Technically although they rebelled, they are a different rebellion from the rebel alliance, if you get what I mean ![]()
The IG Banking clan is hardly existant, so their ships aren't really used by them anymore, so are given away to private ship owners. This is mostly an inference, but I can pad things up ![]()

Well, not a lot around here is making any sense, Sportiva. I really WOULD like to get an explanation from SOE on this topic, but tech support and customer support apparently doesn't extend to such things. I am remaining polite, inquisitive, and hopeful.
After all, an answer would take, what, 10 minutes out of somebody's day?
Yeah, some politeness goes a long way. On that point, wasn't wanting to seem hostile with my previous post - just truth as I see it
Didn't look hostile to me, mate. In all likelihood, the Empire would have wound up in control of the assets of the Jedi Council...nothing stopping them. Therefore they would probably have all the production specs and manufacturing contacts to make Eta-2 ships. But if all it took was piloting skill to fly any kind of ship, anybody with Master Pilot should be able to pilot ANYTHING...but only certain things like the KSE Firespray and the Bel-22 (Grevious fighter) are universally pilotable...and the ARC-170 and Eta-2 are the same thing but with a quest flag attached.
/scratch head
Eh?
The Jedi didn't make their starfighters. Kuat Systems did. They are a company. Not Jedi's on an assembly line.
The Jedi may have modified their personal starfighters, but heck....what decent pilot doesn't do that??
Ya know, you can find all of this information on the official Star Wars site. The ETA-2's are nothing special - just another ship built in a long line of ships by Kuat Systems.

The ARC isnt that bad, its just not that good either, for starters it doesnt have that much more mass than my X-Wing (ARC's mass is roughly 125k and my x-wing has roughly100k), another problem is I have been noticing that a bunch of posts have poped up talking about their ARC's being bugged (my ARC has the primary weapon floating next to my ship), the other problem is that the ARC is a three person ship and the JSF is one so im usualy unable to use it becuase no one else wants to go up with me.
Given, the bug problem is pretty unimportant but the other two are.
The best way to fix this issuewithought making the JAF and ARC avalible to bothfactionsis to give the ARCa mass of somewhere betwene 150-175(btw whats the mass of the JSF?) becuase its a big multiperson ship and should be able to fit more high quality equipment to make up for its lack of manuverability compared to the JSF, and depending on what the mass of the JSF is possibly lowering the JSF's mass (its supposed to be light and manuverable) to < or= to 95k.
By altering the ships atributes you create two truly diffrent styles of ships where each ship performs better at the abilities the other ship is worse at and balancing it out
Just an idea/comment
