I first think that everyone should stop complaining about the yt1300, i mean I have yet to see any people piloting a yt1300 with a crew, i only see people on it by themselves. And honstely, when you go up by yourselves, who really cares if they are in a master ship, its nothing but a hassle. I think that its unfair that people choose their piloting professiong based on the master ship, imo silly. I think that the people here should at least be greatful that they get a master level single passenger cert. Seriously, how fair is it for privateers to have 2 mp ships unless they completely destroy the yt1300 that are in existance, then it would not be such a big deal. But i really must say, with all the talk of limited selection of ships for privateers, its a little unfair because honstly, privateers to no technically appear in movies, they have such little to work with. And what, jtl has been out for like a little over a month and everyone is complaining about the ships, i think that this is a little unfair. Oh, and one more thing, i never see anyone that is a master pilot fly in a master pilot cert, they are sluggish with relatively low handeling. But, that's just me, sorry if you don't agree. No hard feelings for the people that will hate everything that i have saidOcoro
Editted: Re-reading that, I assume your bold means Privateer Ships, right? That's fine, however, neither do TIE Oppressors, TIE Aggressor, or TIE Decimator. SO, I have to say that that point doesn't hold up well.
However, your point regarding people complaining holds up pretty well.. other than a lot of the complaints were in Beta and still haven't been addressed. The YT just finally got a working Lootbox (YAY Devs!!) and Privateers just finally got a Master Level fighter to make up for the Firespray being opened to all factions. (YAY DEVS!!) I personally think the Krayt looks cool, but I also happen to think the Kimo looks pretty cool. The only "Privateer" ship I don't like the looks of is the Dunelizard.
Like several others who have posted, I'd have preferred that the Dev's turn to the many Expanded Universe sources for ships. X-Wing Alliance would have been a great one to use, and since both it and SWG are LucasArts games, I doubt there would be any licensing issues regarding the use of the ships, except maybe the experimental TIES that were created specifically for that game.
But I'll take the ships they give me, because it still gets me up in space flying.

I don't even fly fighters anymore. It's all about The Crimson Flare, the greatest YT to grace the outer rim of Sunrunner since the Falcon touched down on Lok in June 2003. I have it crewed all the time, and my crew loves it. They love it so much that I now know what a doc in Coronet must feel like when I log on due to all of the /tells heading my way. And I'm not complaining! The YT is unfreakinbelievably awesome.

Five * for the envy factor.
Two freelancer pilots in my posession, and not yet mastered either (slacker, I know). Splitting time between two servers isn't so economical. I -REALLY- need my YT.

Is that the name of a sector? Hmm didn't realize it. Oh well. The original name was going to be The Crimson Nova. A bit of history: The Crimson Nova was the first and only BH guild to comission bounties on Jedi. It was druing the early part of the Clone Wars. The bounties were issued by Count Dooku and the Crimson Nova were the only guild to take on the risk of going after the Jedi. This plan changed however when the Rebel MP ship was chritened the Nova. Couldn't very well say "Let's head up in the Nova, my YT." Now could I?

You are right, that was a bad phrase on my part, I guess that I see people (like this) complaining about the krayt and i'm just saying that really the devs don't have much to work from. thanks for pointing that out, i didn't convey that as i meant it. Ive got a question tho, is the kimo a mp ship or a single pass ship? That's what I am most unclear of.

It's a 2-player ship, like the Ywing and the Aggressor. A second person controls a turret.
So, it's not MP in that you can walk around in, and it's not single-player, either.

Bos,
I'm totally with ya. Not sure where the misunderstanding is. I personally never cared if the FS was Freelancer only or not. My initial reaction when I heard it would end up being available to all was against it. But then I reconsidered, realizing that one of the most sought-after ships wouldn't be availble two a vast number of players would really like to have it, but also really want to stay in theme with their faction in the GCW. So the "available to all but only via loot" seemed perfectly viable to me. Still does. Does it keep with continuity that an Imperial TIE pilot will go carousing about in a Firespray when he's not on duty? Nope. But we all know where this game stands on continuity - so I say, sure. Why the hell not.
And yes, I agree that one of the main sources for players' opinions for the devs are the forums. But the forums aren't an accurate sample of the playerbase at large. I know a TON of people in game that may browse through the forums maybe once a month, and that''s just to find some info on an item/quest/whatever that they're pursuing. So it is a source. But it's not an accurate one. But also know that there are many people involved in the game on SOE's side that also have accounts and play the game - they can generally get a good feel for what's what that way too (and often without being directly flamed and addressed as "OMGZORS?!?!!!? \/\/TF 5t00p|d d3v5!!!1!!!1!")
And lastly, I still totally agree with ya again. A good turreted heavy fighter is a great idea to fill a gap in the freelance ship selection. Keeping it based on the Hutt heavy ship design stays in theme and is a logical progression. And for those that are up in arms about the way it looks - fly first person. It's more immersion, and you'll almost never see your hull anyway.
(but I still retain the right to assert that presuming to know what "everyone" is saying or thinking based on the forums is horribly inaccurate)

I think this is where we were missing each other. I agree, it is horribly inaccurate.I also know there are devs that play ingame as I've personally met one. However, it doesn't seem evident that their opnion as player/devs goes very far, since the loud get handed the candy. Squeaky wheel gets greased. an old addage that proves true time and again.
So, the only way to offset that is for the silent, generally happy ones, toalso get "squeaky".
Are we mice, or are we men?! Well, the mice get what they want....soo....

Right there with ya.
It just seems like most of the wheels that squeak, don't -think- before they squeak.
EG: the people raising hell about the Krayt, and how stupid/lazy/whatever the devs obviously are for making it the next Freelancer ship and all that. Despite the fact that no one has flown it, or seen it with any texture kits (for those griping solely about the looks of it), or have any idea if it's the same size as the kimo, or smaller, or bigger, or whatever. All we know from the screecaps is the shape of it. And so many opinions are formed, by people presuming to already know everything about it.
I guess the morals of the story are - 1) Squeaky wheels do get the grease. And 2) Think before you squeak!
