I myself am hoping for additional skill points or a seperate skill box, either way will work since my template is maxed out and would hate to have to drop some things to get space related skills, 250 right now won't cut it.

Adding skill points could prove dissasterous for terrestrial balance. It makes more sense to use a seperate system. As of E3, skill boxes are unlocked per NPC quest -- and it's heavily combat oriented.

Nice. I can hardlywait! I'll be so happy when I'm in space and can blast people, not just because I know more about the game, but because I'm an awesome pilot (twitch-master), and have some of the skills (not stopped by the points, and actually requires some work to get better ships/abilities)!

i just hope that yes you can get one pilot profession outside the normal 250 skill points.

buti want to be able to spend some of the 250 skill point on getting a second pilot profession

not reb/imp that is just silly

but a rebel pilot and neutral pilot?

yeah i wanna fly X-Wings for the alliance but i also want to smuggle independantly in my YT-1300

you need to be able to be faction + neutral

otherwise I'll be pissed

It always amazes me how quick we all are to correct someone else's mistakes.

I mean this in a good way, it's not a flame. I also appreciate it knowing that if I make some kind of a mistake, it will be corrected almost immediately.

As far as I know you only need 256 points or something to solo-takeover a faction base, so either they need to adjust the skills required for that or people can solo bases.

Most logical is that they keep 250 terrestrial points, and include shipwright into this line as it's just a crafting profession like the others and everyone will be able to go into 1 of the 3 pilot branches (as they most likely give the same bonuses anyways).

Only potential problem : what if you are neutral when starting to fly and then become imperial ? (I'm assuming rebels are automatically rebel pilots, and imps imperial tree) If the bonuses are the same, then you could just be swapped into the other trees (if the quests are of identical toughness to get to the same level ofc).

The devs have said you'll only be able to utilize one tree in the space expansion either neutral/imp/ or rebel. But it wont matter because a few ships (YT1300,etc) will be available to all trees. The way i hope the devs will do it is that Imps and Rebs get access to all neutral ships as well as their own factioned ships. a nice little incentive ya know?

Then what's the incentive for anyone to go neutral pilot? It'd be like a wasted profession. And what sort of Imperial would want Hutt fighters or even a YT-1300 or something?

Not everyone is a member of the Alliance or Empire.

The main reason for allowing Neutral ships for Alliance and Empire members has to do with discussions on PvP. If therewas non-consentual PvP between Imperials and Alliance members, and if Neutral ships were consentual PvP only then having a Neutral ships would allow you to not be involved in PvP.

Exactly what LAR said. if you're neutral you wouldn't be Imp/Reb anyway so of course you wouldn't get certs for those ships, but if your Imp/Reb i think you should have certs for your respective factions ships AND neutral ships for times when you dont want to PVP or what not.

As it is it would give those who took the step to be imp or reb more reason to stay so and play out their roles. if you're still neutral...well your a nonentity in the GCW and should have no say, i feel =)

I love the idea of having a seperate skill pool from the regular skills. I'm a Master Smuggler/Master Commando with Novice Medic (just to get me by), and that leaves me with one skill point left. I would really hate to have to drop Commando.
And with seperate skill points, I can have my second account (Merchant/Politican/Shipwrite-to-be) be a Nuetral Pilot!

I just want to reply with this comment: In real life a surgeon isn't a commando and a fighterpilot and a bioengineer too. To keep de balance in the game I think it's neccesary to limit the amount of skillpoints, it will be much more real like your cuurent prof and start a new one. For me it's fun to start and evolve to a new prof.
