Who the heck thought of the name "Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided"? It should be "Star Wars Galaxies: A Galaxy Divided" the Empire isn't divided but the Galaxy is.

I was hoping there would be the best of both worlds. For those who like twitchy games they can take destroy missions but there would be missions for us RPers who arent crazy about dogfights.

Sadly its just and yes i said JUST a twitchy game. Please tell me some of the addons will go to the land game also like new worlds (Hoth? Dagabah?) , new skills AND MORE SPs!

Some of us cannot physically play twitchy games

All I want to know is whether space-related professions will use the same 250XP pool or a separate (if any) XP pool. In other words, if I have 0 XP left after mastering current combat professions, will I still be able to become an effective figher pilot?

I seriously hope that the "MF" ship is not a player-owned craft...

the EXACT SAME "MF" template as Han-Solo...

His ship was unique.

As in that was the ONLY one in existance, anywhere.

Uhh...the YT-1300 was a VERY common ship in the Star Wars galaxy...a little outdated during this timeframe, but still very common. Granted, the Millenium Falcon was heavily modified...but the external appearance, at least, wasn't that much so.

actually, the FRAME was a common freighter,
but the dual-quad cannons, triple-warp-engines, big-honkin-radar-dish, and heavy-armored engine-compartment were all explicitly found on the Melinnium Falcon, and no other ship.

IF they used the BASE model for the YT-1300 then that would be much more appropriate, then allowing visual modifications to be made by altering engines/sensors/weapons, etc...

but make it IMPOSSIBLE to recreate the Melinnium Falcon.

That way there would be heavy nostalgia, but a well-defined uniqueness to the "MF".

Well, I know when they first demoed the Space Expansion at E3 a couple years ago, the controls were supposedly simple and easy to catch on to. And we know for a fact that there will be new Professions and Races, and I'm 95% certain they will be adding a few new planets as well.

Also, it's likely that all missions won't be "destroy" missions; it's likely there will be other types of missions that won't require you to have a supreme mastery of the controls.

The Twitch idea is very lame. Online RPG,....hmmm. I mean it's one thing to go live with a First Person Shooter or something like that, but to be an RPG then change it, I don't know. Sure the LEET DOODs will pee themselves, but the players who play it for an RPG might steer clear.

I like action games actually more than RPG, but my wife prefers RPG. She can't even play twitch games as far as that goes. She's handicap and doesn't have the hand coordination for it and RPG has fit perfect for her. Having to move the mouse to aim plus use selecting buttons to shoot can get difficult and ruins any RPG element of gaming.

There's a part of the idea that says yeah many wanna be Star War fans came into the game thinking they were getting the usually action oriented shooter might like it. They're so flip flop on saying they like something and then saying they don't the next day that it's rather dumb to base sales on that crowd. The core of the crowd that bought this is the RPGers and those who are enjoying this as an RPG.

All that is being pushed here is that you get to fight each other like the old X-Wing vs Tie Fighter. Oh joy, but couldn't that have been a seperate game? Maybe a whole sub game to get the "action wanting gamers" off of here and on to the game they keep trying to force Galaxies to be? Where is the new planets and other new locations? All of this time of moreless putting Galaxies on hold to make this, and there will be no pay off for the true Online RPG fan. You are only making a PlanetSide type game with Star Wars sort of theme to it.

I do hope there's more to it than what that interview suggested. I know there wasn't a lot given and Sony doesn't want to speak out on everything right now, but I hope RPG has remained in the developer's mind and not just thrown out the window in favor of the small group that's been trying to tell you to make this a DOOM clone.

i am very happy about it being twitch based, but i do have a concern. i hope the repair costs and frequency arent too massive, as it could get annoying having to land quite often to fix up.

so... anyone have an early list of ships from the screenshots? i will list what i could tell, though maybe not the precise names:

x-wing
y-wing
z-95 headhunter
corellian freighter
tie fighter
tie advanced
tie interceptor

dunno what else was there....
i would imagine there will also be a tie bomber and b-wings. were a-wings introduced into the war at this time?

Sounds great, I'm really looking forward to this. However, I think that having to store the ships in the datapad is a bad idea...it's bad enough that we have to live with grauls and land speeders popping out of thin air, but not X-Wings. I know there's the whole technical thing to worry about but I'm sure we could come up with something...

Also, I'm really, really hoping for player-owned, or at least player-operated,capital ships in the future. It would be awesome for a guild to own one and for it even to operate as a sort of PA hall in space, other than the more obvious functions. It would be an impossible feat to completely recreate the inside, but give players access to a few halls at least...

OMG - can you imagine the amount of bugs and problems there will be with Space Expansion? Just based on the amount of bugs that STILL currently reside in the regular game after a launch of many many months - lol.

Prepare for major frustration folks!

So, a player crafter will be abkle to make an tie fighter but a player crafter will still not be able to make a set of ST armor, hmmm.

I sure hope that a great deal of work goes into the GCW before and included with this expansion. The though of anyone flying a tie fighter but an overt imperial is rather ridiculous. Same for rebels and x-wings.

i believe it was stated in the past that the SE will use a different pool for whatever skills it may use, so you could keep everything you have now. i would sure hope this hasnt changed.
