I agree Xeranx, in fact if you go through and read the entire thread you'll see that this was the original point of the discussion. We want to urge SOE to integrate a voicechat system for space filght. If they cannot do so right away, an acceptable alternative would be to endorse a 3rd party voicechat program.

Either way voicechat needs to be in readable use in JTL. The nightmare of course is people using different ones (there are 3 major ones I believe), and causing dificulty. An integrated system in game would be far superior.

I also agree that I don *think* voicechat is in violation of the EULA, but I'm not in charge. It does give a player a tactical advantage over others by using a 3rd party program. It could be interpeted that way.

I'm sure this as been said, but Well.. maybe not everyone wants voice chat? theres like, 1 out of ever 10 people who roleplay, and theres no point in voice chat if someones gonna act stupid? lol... if we want voice chat, download Team Speak..

The only thing about this ice is that the players would have to alt-tab out to mute the stupid person and during combat or just general playthat isn't exactly gonna work well. To reference half-life I used to use the number keypad with binds to my team-mates to mute each player so player 1 would be number one etc allowing any twit to be muted without tabing and clicking this was great esp. because we played on an open public server.

A: Ok guys we're going to pull down all the servers in the early hours of the morning so our customers aren't inconvinienced.
B: Great idea how about 4am ?
A: Amazing who in their right mind would be up at that time ?
4am comes
B: Bring them down

I have seen all of them, multiple times and multiple versions. I have read nearly all the books as well. I have played most of the Star Wars games on platforms from the PS2 all the way back to the Atari 2600. I have alos played pen and paper rpg's and online rpgs. I have been playing MMORPG's since long before they even had a name for them.

I do understand that many of the races in Star Wars cannot speak basic, but they still manage to work together. There are limits to what people are willing to put into playing a game, and I draw mine at having players being forced to learn new languages in order to chat. If we followed your line of thinking than we would all need keyboards that had the Star Wars basic alphabet.. and only printed on the screen in the Star Wars letters and numbers.

I am sorry you don't see the benefit of having Voice Chat in JTL for use during dynamic, twitch based group fights.

The game is so far off from what should be happening in the Star Wars storyline its not even funny. I think the day/night cycle in the game is 4 real hours per 1 day of game time. That means that 6 years of game time have past in the 1 real year of playing. I think the battle of hoth has come and gone and Lukes hand is being recovered for cloning at this point.. well thats if the timeline actually advanced.

its a dumb idea, because the point of a RPG in this case in space is to still act like your In star wars, And if your chatting with ppl online it will take a peice of star wars away! and of course theres those weird people that Play as a Girl and boys of the opposite sex.... and of course the ppl who are of a different Speices talking like humans???? NO WAY drop this thread its the dumbest IDEA for SOE since The Begining of Release,

Think about it, we already learned their language...and most of us, type in English, so i don't really see the agruement that you are trying to make. After we learned the language, we could understand each other, and read everything that a wookie, bothan or what everthey typed wasin English! This is no different than being in voice chat with someone, than reading what someone's typed.

If u wanna go about it that way, then if u haven't learned the language yet, then the devscould add a Wookie roar or a Bothan dialect, or what everspecies u are, for us to hearif u try to speak anything. However, I think that would be pushing the devs a little bit more for that to happen.

I understand your concern about the different languages and such... However, survival to me at least, is put far beyond having a language barrier. Voice chat is needed if we are able to organize, attack, or flee and defend properly.

Teamspeak, and all the other voice chats are nice. Although, they don't come close to an organzied, non-hasslevoice chat that should be available to us players.

As one person pointed out, if u wanted to mute someoneon Teamspeak or the like, you have to Alt-tab, andthen mute them.... This would cost time, andyou wouldprobably be dead by then dogfighting in space...Since this is atwitch game, and not a turn-baseor any other genre.

I hope you all understand, we are trying to help all the players as a whole, to communicate in a simple, easy fasion. We aren't trying to hurt the game in anyway, we want to add-on to help those that can not type as fast or do not want to downloadthree or more programs to just to speak in-game. I for one care about the player base, and do not want to see you all have added suffer through-out the game just because you couldn't type, "help, i'm almost dead, i'm at....." then all slient, and you find yourself in the cloning center...

We just wanna help the players, before typing in space becomes a raging issue .
