Plus i have a nice lil example for those guys who think changes happen even in real-life and you are unlucky and gotta live with them... Well what if in real life you order a ferrari and pay it in advance and then you get a crappy rusty car from the junk yard and car seller tells you: well, we had a nice lil meeting last week and posted about it somewhere on our homepage that we might give all the ones who ordered a ferrari and nice lil junk car?

That is nothing normal, that is just the biggest joke ever. And now others (or even the same people)will say: of course but this is a real-life issue but this is a game... I tell you what: Some people really know how to turn things around so they always fit them as they want to.

and of course you can make the junk car to run as well, of course you might get from A to B with it, but it's not what you paid for. As simple as that. And in real life you go into jail for such a fraud, so plz spare me with your wise real-life comments.

Real bad choice of analogy there, what actually happened is more along the lines of this:

  • Buy a Ferrari and have it delivered on tuesday with the specified 3.5 litre engine

  • Find out the next day that they have modified all new sales to have a 4 litre turbo-charged engine

Would you expect them to change your engine? No, they had probably announced the change somewhere, if you didn't know then it is your misfortune, not their problem.

As opposed to your post where the reader has no idea what you are responding to without refering back to some other post?

1) You must have a different Launchpad than the rest of us. I seem to recall, for example, coming on early Tuesday as the servers were coming up and seeing it patch, but no patch notes for 11.2. I went to the forums to look them up, and got the What's On Deck posting.

Did you look at the "Coming soon to a galaxy near you" in the News Headlines section? Or click the latest news button?

3) Let's see.. I'm a jerk on a forum full of jerks.. yet the other forum I'm visiting as we speak seems to have no problems with what I'm posting THERE this morning.. funny, that forum isn't filled with jerks, and I'm treating them just fine. We're even joking around. No, there's no POSSIBLE connection there, right? But you just go right ahead and tell yourself that none of you possibly deserve to be treated the way you treat others around here.

Just because some of the others posting here act like jerks, don't think out what they are saying and are generally rude is no reason for you to act the same way. Look through my posts you will discover that it is quite possible to remain polite and sensible even when being attacked or subject to badly thought out arguements, and obviously when in a constructive debate.

You either have very low personal standards or a limited will power if you can't manage to remain polite and constructive when confronted by idiots. When dealing with children I act like an adult as I am an adult, i don't stoop to their level and start throwing mud.

Oh and Vegitaa never said that if he didn't know then he should have known better, but that if he did know then he should. It might be a good idea to read the posts you attack before attacking them, no?

HOWEVER: SWG is NOT reality. (I know, hard for some of you to grasp) SOE/LucasArts/the Tooth Fairy/whomever coded everything, SOE/LucasArts/the Tooth Fairy/whomever decided the physics.. the laws.. what goes.. what doesn't go.. It's entirely in their power to change whatever they're willing to change..

Well said there, this is not reality, and as such those million credits he spent were not real, he is not losing anything real by having a ship with 20k less mass than someone who buys it today, so why is he complaining, this is not real life and he has lost nothing. Its not as if they stopped his ship from working, its just not quite as 'uber' as the new ones, get over it you don't need the most 'uber' ship in order to have fun.

First of all- Stop flaming in my thread, you know who you are.

Second - For those that didn't bother reading, I bought my Opressor (and was master at the time) BEFORE they announced the change.

Third - Nobody that says I payed too much plays on Bloodfin, so I'm not exactly sure how you know what the going price for a good ship is. Please shop around on my serve before making comments.

And finally - Nobody is complaining. I have still not seen a single post in this thread whining to get masses changed by the devs. Just people expressing their frustration. In fact I still have yet to see some one with a pre-patch ship tell anyone else to suck it up.

So stop flaming others for eny reason, and keep using this thread to vent frustration about your gimped ships.

A veneer of politeness is just as much a weapon in forum arguing as anything else. It's little more than a tactic to gain the higher ground. Next!

OK, then I'll be the first Bought an Oppressor Sunday AM for my alt toon (not sure why since it'll be weeks before that toon has the boxes to fly a TIE/O) and found out about the mass changes Sunday PM. On top of that, found out I paid about $100k too much (should have shopped more). My reaction? "Well crap. Ah well,it's just digital dollars." Sold it to a friend who was willing to have less mass if he paid less $ since he's a bit poorer (actually sold it on a payment plan LOL). So I'm out a few hundred k's. So what? Again, it's digital money. You can make enough to buy a new one in a few days on this game (EDIT: The solo group "nerf" will affec this, but I think prices will eventually come down and find a new balance). Life goes on. This has happened to me in other ways with other updates. Part of the game and I deal with it. At least its not RL and my life depends on whether I can put a lv 10 reactor in it instead of a lv 6 (we have reactor & engine overload for a reason). Not like I just went to a car dealer and dropped $30k for an SUV only to find out that if I had waited 3 weeks, I could have gotten it on a year-end sale (which happened this summer. Just took it in stride. Got more important things to stress over than paying $5 more a month for a car)...

Now, expressing frustration on the forums is cool. Telling other people not to post unless they're venting isn't. If you post in a public forum, you need to be prepared for a public reaction. As soon as hit you hit "Submit Post" it stopped being your thread and became our thread. You just started it is all. Sorry to be harsh, but I felt like some perspective was in order here. Sorry you got screwed. I promise it'll be OK, tho. If it's not, let SOE know by cancelling your account. If enough people do, they'll get the message. If enough people don't, maybe you're in a minority (which means your money might be spent better elsewhere. SWG is a good game, but it ain't the best. I like it well enough tho...)

Seems a chasis dealer could have been and still could be easily coded to handle and 'old' chasis trade-in, giving a deed in return with the same hp the old one had, same manuevering stats and new mass. Has anyone seen any rationale given other than "we won't be doing it."?

Personally, I will burden the load of shelling out cash for a completely new privateer set, 3 new blueprints minimum,on tempest and glad I am stuck in third tier storm squad on scylla and haven't gotten to the oppressor certification, but man...should I really have to? More casual players than I, pilots and shipwrights both, will be set back considerably and I just don't get why the hate from soe, when doing it the right would be so simple.

edit: all five privateer ships on tempest, all four imperial ships on scylla and both rebel ships on chilastra were bought before the announcement of the changes, as I played a decent amount of hours the first two weeks.

Well I think the new mass changes are great and help to balance out some of the fighters...but here is my problem. About a day before they made the changes for 11.2 public, I spent over 1 Million credits on my TIE Opressor. Now the mass has gone up over 20k, which would allow me to fit 3 space bomb launchers and a countermeasure system in my fighter. Boy would that make it one mean killing machine. But I can't, because the already made fighters didn't get the mass bump. I will be useless in PvP and PvE compared to my peers that are just making master.
1 Million credits in not an investment I can afford to make again! Can we get a retroactive mass boost please?

1st off, if you spent 1mil on a ship, you got ripped off...

So, in your post you say, a day before the publish.

Odd, I was pretty sure they had warned EVERYONE in multiple areas, the launchpad, the forums, the website, that IT WOULD NOT BE RETROACTIVE.

Did you think you were special and it didnt apply to you?

SuperPoop, We've established that as of the morning OF/AFTER the patch had been enacted there were no patch notes on launchpad. MOST of the player base DON'T read the forums. How else were the players supposed to know of this change?

And that is where most ppl here are wrong. The items are not real, but we have lost something. If I loose 1 mill of credits I need to get them back. And before the patch I needed around 5-6 hours of missions to get that money. No idea how much it is now with the group change but maybe 15-20 hours. Yes maybe for some ppl this is nothing. But not for me, and I am tired of seeing this game wasting my time. I like the game, but the timesink is sometimes realy annoying and every time you loose something you need even more time to compensate this.
