What part of Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game do you not understand?
"I want to be able to solo everything!"
Give it a rest....

I did not find the missions that hard. But in most cases I did not go for the kill but rather disable ships to protect myself or escorts. I do hate it when the mission takes you near a non mission related squads , that makes thinks a bit harder.

This is just bad game mechanics, why should I have to be a part of a large group to take on my solo missions. Then if I dont do the missions I cant be a pilot. I am so ready to quit I cant see straight. Has anyone solo'ed all the pilot missions? I can take the fact that I suck but refuse to have guildmates fly with me just because SOE cant seem to leave the way to master a proffession alone!!
Hagg this is not pointed at you directly, I have just noticed how on no matter what board I go to there is a gripeabout someting. ok one thing i will never understand about people who moan and groan in all aspects of this game, and games like it....Isn't this a MMORPG? Meaning its something you do with a group of people, cmon guys/gals...why buy/play the game if you constantly want to do things solo?
Yeh ok i know..you can't find anyone on the time you're on....that's insane, thats what your guild is there for to help. That is the mechanics of games like this, it's supposed to be sociable - so go play the console game of your choice if you wanna be in solitude - thats what went wrong with the ground game. There are too many soloists and me only attitudes in this game. Doesn't seem too me that some who play this game understand that its intended for group interaction whether you like it or not. But I'm sure there will be some workaround it.

I am only 1221 Privateer at this point and have had no issue soling the missions. However I don't see a problem with some of the high level missions requiring a group. This is an MMO and you should not expect to be the best at every single thing without ever becoming social. I am currently still flying solo but will probably try to find grouops soon so that I can advance more quickly as well as making a few friends along the way.

I was totally against forced grouping at first, but now, after actually getting up there with a wingman and helping it out, it's great. It makes it less mind numbing and also adds a new area of commerce: Mercenaries. On Tempest we are setting up a mercenary guild that will hire our services out to help those who need help, either for PVP groups or for tier missions. We don't charge a lot and what we do charge is divided between the guild and the pilots. And as far EQ being soloable, only if you're the right class with the right gear. Not every class can solo effectively, so in reality, EQ is pretty much forced grouping. If you need help with your missions and are on the Tempest server drop me a line and we'll see what we can work out.

Yeah, you don't get it, you REALLY don't get it.
This is an MMO, so you CAN group. But grouping to gain xp and do missions is not ALL there is. There is tons of interaction with other players you can do and it isn't all grouping. Your narrow vision of the word "multiplayer" is the flaw of most MMO's on the market.
SWG and EQ are the most popular MMO's in North America. Both offer soloing as a viable alternative to grouping. In neither game do you need to group in order to level, although grouping is faster. People LIKE the choice, they HATE being forced to group. FFXI proved that.
There is also group content in both games. So you can group when you want and solo when you want. That is ideal.
Now we have JTL which forces us to group to complete our missions and just advance to Master. And you say "get a wingman" uh huh, yeah, but you can't do all these missions with just you and one other. The Master Mission alone is going to require a zerg to complete.
Why do you even play SWG anyway? Until JTL, there was no forced grouping in order to master your profession. And that was what was so great about it.
Hmmmm... Squad Leader? Image Designer? We know you could master Rifleman solo, and that let us know you don't like groups too much.
And I think that being an ACE PILOT involves dealing with group tactics, formation and discipline. You have to group the be an ACE Pilot.
Take care.

Bob, you're right. Sadly many of the people on these boards aren't very intelligent, and they will all try to take you down.
You should not be forced to group to complete solo missions.
Period.
Furthermore, missions should not be a requisite of advancement.
Period.
Missions should offer a fun and different way, perhaps even a faster way, of gaining experience and/or nice items or components for your ship. Harder missions should be group oriented and have a larger reward. Easier missions should be like the Tier 1 and Tier 2 missions (I am only 2-2-1-1 so I have not done many Tier 2 yet).
The problem is, SOE developers are very lazy. We have seen this the past 15 months time and again. Instead of making tons of content and interesting things to do, they "gate" advancement in the Pilot profession. Instead of allowing everyone to go out and have FUN and advance at their own pace, the developers are trying to slow down progression via these difficult missions.
Why, you ask? Simple. Once a player makes Master Pilot they will want something to do. I hear there are some things currently to do at Master, but I am certain it will not be enough to keep the player base satisfied. Instead of creating goals for the player base, the developers slow down advancement, so that a player's sole goal is to achieve Mastery, which may take a long time given the state of things.
It doesn't matter though. Everquest II is coming out I believe next week. It sounds like that development team had the right idea from all I hear. It should be an awesome game. Star Wars: Galaxies subscriptions will begin to drop off the charts.
At least the few of you who stay will have a lot less lag to deal with.
Too bad you won't be able to find enough people to group with to complete your "group required" missions.

I was gonna post pretty much the same thing Broog. But you did it just right for me. Bob take heart and remember that most of the people here are pretty close minded flamtards.
Btw I am in Beta for EQ2. It has its problems but your right. The dev's for EQ2 have the right idea, MMORPG does not mean group. Groups = greater rewards but the solo artist can advance just as well.

I am completely stuck and gated on the tier 3 mission for the freelance trainer on lok. The 'Capture the Weapons Shipment' mission set. I get thru to the part that you are taking the decoy to the corsec courior and the infinite waves of pirates attack. I tried doing this with 3 other players and we still couldnt do it. WE went thru over 20 waves of fighters. No matter what, they eventually wears us down.
Has anyone out there done these missions and if so please give some advice
Thanks

Hey "Hero", forced grouping in order to ADVANCE YOUR PROFESSIONis BAD, ok? I mean, hello?
Sure there are things you will need to group for out in Deep Space. There are large ships with good loot that you won't kill solo. But advancing in your profession should not require grouping. It should be *possible* to do it on your own. Right now, it is *impossible*.
I'm sick of all you MMO players who think that Online = Forced Grouping. There are so many different aspects of interaction withother players in an MMO. I had to buy my ship from other players, I had to get my stuff reverse engineered by other players, I heal other players with wounds, I chatwith other players- tons of stuff I do with other players. But now I cannot advance because the Master Mission requires a full group of good pilots to kill the stinking corvette. It's stupid.
SWG had the right idea by making your ground professions soloable. They screwed the pooch by forcing you to group in space just to master your profession.
um, that was not their intention, thus they gave npcs their specials back, so things like NS would require groups. and when the game went live we all had to group to level up as we had no doctors for buffs and so on. so to say we should be able to solo the whole pilot profession exhibits lack of imagination, and it just seems like you dont want to be immersed in the experience...

Umm, say this when you are a jedi. To me hunting solo as a jedi is so boreing. JTL is fun and I havent played as a jedi in 4 days.

I too haven't played the ground game since JTL launched, except to hit up my shipwright for new hot parts. 3333 so far, and soloed ALL of the missions. All it takes is to WATCH whats going on around you instead of focusing on the little green dots on your screen.
