Thread: JTL Will it really help this game?

My 2 cents....SWG is a MMORPG (Massivly Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game). The mere fact that there's a Star Wars RPG that doesn't have space flight is simply silly. JTL adds that to the mix, thus expanding the realism aspect of the game. In addition to that, there's people like me that love Star Wars, but get bored of SWG. I've contemplated canceling my account on two separate occasions due to boredom. While it's true that JTL might not fix all the issues with SWG, it does add an additional dimention to the game, and since it doesn't take any skill points to become a pilot, it's simply a way to enhance your gaming experience without sacriffcing any of the attributes you've built into your character. (Unless you choose to be a Shipwright. that is), for the Shipwright, it adds an additional dimention to the crafting/merchant aspect of SWG. Seems like any way you approach the expansion, it adds something to the mix and thus far, beta is fun.

It's another thing to do.
Not everyone likes to do the same things.
You may like it, you may not.
I am in beta, I like it.
Whether it will be the savior of the game as a whole, I don't know. I have thought for the last 6 months at least that that would come in the form of the combat rebalance and the GCW revamp.
What I DO think JTL will do is give us something worth our while to do while we wait for the Combat Rebalance and GCW Revamp.

It will be good, No jedi will travel to space, cause odds are.. they will get hit still with the -200k xp when they die.. and there are no Force powers concerned with piloting.

Its SWG in space.
Its not Planetside battle proportions in an SWG environment, which is what I first thought it may be.
But its SWG, movedinto space.
New environment, new crafting, new things, all the same issues both good and faulty/bugged.
More work for devs, but all the stuff that made swg great.

I get to fly a TIE interceptor in space, blasting rebels and pirates. When i have done my duty to my emperor,i can land my ship on a number of planets and head to a cantina for a drink and a watch a few dancers. That is really all i ever wanted.

While I can see that it would be useful to have JtL, I don't think it is worth $30. I might pick it up when it hits the $10 bargain bin (if I'm still playing SWG then).
...and yes, I am in the beta. I don't hate it, I don't love it... I can take it or leave it... and at a price of $30, I plan to leave it.
So you would pay $30 for swg but not for jtl? But the are both half a game, jtl is not an expansion pack in the normal way it is putting space flight in the game that should have been there at the start. But no Lucas arts said get the ground game out now so we can start making some cash.

I just want to say one last thing and then I am done with this thread. This goes out to all the people who say "give SOE a chance" and especially to the devs.....
"Your actions speak so loudlyI can't hear what your saying"
I am a big believer in this saying. I judge on the actions not the words coming out of their mouths. If the devs really want to start being taken seriously then they will start to back up the words they speak and have spoken in the pastwith the appropriate actions. This has not been the case for the most part and until that happens I stand by myprevious statements.

I think limiting the space content to combat at launch is the right thing to do. Simply put, the devs are not capable of making a game with multiple systems. They tried with the ground game and what did that get us? A MMO with a huge amount of features, but an MMO that doesn't do any one of them particularly well.
The devs are being much more careful this time. They don't seem to be buying more than they can chew. Which is good. I think after launch and the combat revamp they should add space stations that players can walk around in. That would simply be cool in and of itself.

its not so much that their being more careful ,but its just that they wanna make sure ground remains important. With space combat, lots of people are gonna be in space. Add resources, then no crafters will be on the ground, they can already fly around in a yacht or a MP ship and craft inside if they wanted to. Just letting them harvest in space or something will make to many people ground useless. Theyre just making sure that ground stays fundamental

I disagree. As long as they don't add "space specific" resources, I don't see how allowing players to harvest the same amount of resources in space as on the ground can hurt.
Players are always going to need the ground, if anything just to make credits. I'm going to need to visit a dancr at a cantina, I'm going to need to buy new equipment at shops. And I'm going to need to run missions to make money.

Dont think so , been in beta for a while now, and think the beta isnt worth it bug ridden, too many stupid problems that havent even been addressed by the devs. No way this game will be anywhere near release on the 27th even though tye will release as bug filled as SWG was when it go released.
