I have to say, the fact that you aren't on my server made a small part of the joy I had in seeing this post die. But only a small part. As a neutral Musician with minimal combat skills, I've never been able to make very much money. These prices may not be "reasonable" at current market value, but the "l33ts" and powergaming template stackers (and a few greedy crafters) have ruined the game's economy. For the JUST the chassis, this is an extremely competitive price. I assume that you will be selling components for higher prices, as that seems to be the bread and butter of the Shipwright profession.

Many of the flamers who have derided you for your prices are only complaining due to the fact that they haven't put forth the effort you have (harvesting since April, stockpiling millions of resources, and so on). You have the right to sell your products for however much you want, and it's good to see someone who isn't intending to exploit the players who rely on others for creds by jacking up your prices.

[Note: for anyone who gets the bright idea to respond to this post by saying "Well, if you don't like relying on others to get credits, get a combat skill", just stop now. This game is about choices, and I've made the choice to be a non-combatant, just like CarpetGunk has made the choice to sell his ship chassis for relatively low prices.]

I am thinking about doing shipwright (although not sure as did not get into beta)

my pricing structure will be the same as I have for architect just now which is 3cpu no more no less (unless I get a large order) I usually mine my own stuff unless I get several large orders one after the other then at times I have to go purchase stuff.

I think that everyone is entitled to their pricing structure and as pointed out the sale of the chasis start at 5cpu here then go down and yes the money will be in the componenets (which I will sell at 3cpu if I do shipwright).

People are forgeting it takes about 6.5 MILLION resources to become master ship write. If you want to sell at 1 cpu thats your loss and belive you me. youWILL be makeing a HUGE loss. esp if you want to use any of the new resources that are spread thought out the galaxy one on each planet. I've been talking to various people i know who are going to be shipswrites and the ones use the intend to make ships out of good stuff. Have told me thier will be chargeing 30 cpu at least. If you haveing to pay at least 10cpu for resources there is NO WAY you can sell it for 1cpu. Please some one stop this guy and others like him from runing the shipsmarket just like they did with the bikes market. I was useinga metal to make bikes at the time that i could sell for 5 to 10 cpubut people where complain it people like him where only chargeing 15k for a swoop. Its takes8000 metal to make a swoop and i could get 40k for the resources i put into the bike soWHY ON EARTH would i take the time to turn it into a bike and lose 25k onthe deal. Please people ships needs LOTS of resources and they all have to be made BY HAND. This takes LOT of time. So if you want all the people who make the best to quit and leave the crap merchants like this guy and others ruin the market YOU will be the one that loses out in the end. As you will not be able to get a decent ship any where as no one will be prepared to put in the time and effort for 1 cpu. I know i would'nt. Why bother when i can get 2cpu for the worst grinding resouces and upto 20 cpu for the really good stuff.

actually, I'll be making more than quadruple the money for 1/4 of the work or less by selling at fair market value. I really don't have much of a problem with him selling low. That's his perogative no matter how foolish it seems to me.

My point is that he is claiming these are 'reasonable' prices when they are anything but. He is attempting to set market expectations and he is woefully low by the vast accounts of the majority (the majority being the many pricing threads on beta forums). And anyone selling below the range of fair market value for the resources cannot claim these are reasonable expectations of pricing. They are extremely low-balled, cut rate and an attempt to bottom out the market.

He knows it. I knowit. You know it. Everybody knows it. Even my damn dog knows it.

Now is it attractive to the masses who don't have alot of credits? Sure is, but it's also attractive to the rich. I'm rich and if i could get the best composite for a tenth of the price, i'd buy it too. To me it seems his 'operation' will be custom order only for the most part. Good luck finding what you need when you need it there.

4) Ship chassis' do not take a long time to make.. Plug in the resources, wait for the crafting tool... a minute.

(I'm repeating myself)

5) Ship chassis are NOT where the money is - components are where people are going to be spending the most of their money, and my prices for the CHASSIS reflect that

6) You sound like another money-hungry, ill-prepared shipwright hopeful I know...

If you can find nothing better to reply to my post than to point out my spelling errors then it shows howgoodmy arguement is. So your going to use resouces that you COULD sell for atLEAST 5cpu if not more and then take the time and effort to turn them into a ship component and after all that you then going to sell them for 4 cpu LESS than you could by just put them on a vendor. Why are you wastering your time like that?I suppose your one of those pervese people who enjoy wrecking the work of others. Shame that as usual one bad apple ruins the whole barrel. Ship chassis might not take a long time but as you said you have been saveing resources since april. Thats 5 months now. Is'nt that worth something? Actually people will be buying a NEW chassi every time they can get a bigger one, then they will get components to fit. You can also loot MUCH better components that most people can make off ships. So its unlikely they a lot of people are going to buy components off you if they can just go loot a much better one off a ship. Btw you going to be seling components at 1cpu too. Casue if you are i will just buy them off you and save my self the bother of makeing them.

How many times do I have to say I don't care what *resources* are worth!?

There is no "fair market value" for SHIPS yet- I am trying to influence what the ship market STARTS out at, so people likeDingo won't screw over their servers...

These prices are for the **BLUEPRINT** ONLY

People still have to pay for:

- the visit to the starship chassis broker NPC

- reactors

- engines

- shields

- weapons

- armor

- weapons

- capacitors

- droid interfaces

- droids, etc....

Get off your greedy high horse Dingo, read the rest of this forum, read the response to the same post on my server's forum and realize that you are nothing but an annoying, greedy, money-hungry arse that realized you just got caught with your pants down and can't compete with your desire to price-gouge the hell out of the market.

You are an annoying pest. You are simply a greedy, unprepared wanna-be Shipwright who realized he just got caught being unprepared.

I know it, you know it, and judging from the response in this thread and the thread I started up in my server, everyone else knows it.

/sigh

Someone said that their cost of resources were 0.25 cpu, implying that's what they were worth.

Take 1000 resources, if those resources can easily be sold on the bazaar for 2000 credits, then 2 cpu is their "market price." So, that's what they are worth.

Now, if you factor in a "worth" of 1 cpu for your manufacturing, you are taking a 1000 credit loss off the bat. This is called an "opportunity cost" - you paid a cost of 1000 credits by not just selling the resource outright.

I realize the original proposal here tacked on a labor charge - that's a reasonable method. But what is not reasonable is understating the implicity worth of the resources.

Try getting a carpenter to build you an addition for the "cost of the lumber" - won't happen. In most trades, the cost of labor is 100% of the cost of materials.

I always considered 5 cpuok for decent resource. .25- whats the point? might as well just give it away...

I already have orders for Chassis using the best resources ever to spawn on my server in ever category. Some of these resources have sold in the 100-200 cpu range. Of course I'm selling to some uber rich players, but regardless, I will sell a few chassis in the 5mil range.

But for all the stuff that is in better supply but still the 1st or second best type in these categories, I'm thinking 20 cpu.

For all the rest I'm thinking 8-10 cpu, because after all the grinding and all the people leave for space, I don't see nearly as many people manning Harvesters and we may very well have a server wide shortage of Steel for example that would push prices up.

The lowest I will go is 5 cpu.

Don't you think your labor fees are a little high? Players will have to pay a fee just to have a bare hull not to mention all the mechanics that are needed to just get them in the air (so to speak). I can only hope that other players will be more fair with their prices.
