Well.. I started this thread before I knew about the one minute wait. But I still would like to be able to land at my primary residence. As far as launching from there and landing at another player star port, that would be cool. But the more I think about it the more I like the idea of a "personal" landing pad attached to my primary house that only I can use to launch from and land at. Any other place would have to be at a starport of some sort. And a player star port would be cool but for a player city to have one it would take a lot of people to be living in the city. A lot of good thougts and points in this thread... keep them up

No player starports, you lazy bums!
Like it is sooooooooooo difficult to wait the ONE MINUTE (publish 12.1) it will take to fly in a shuttle to a starport.
I know what you want, you want to be able to step outside your house, and click a ship terminal w/o leaving your front porch, enabling you to avoid people who want to shoot you (you are afraid of being caught in PvP while waiting for the shuttle in a public starport. You want to land on other planets in 'safe' cities where there wont be others waiting to catch you.
It still amazes me the # of peeps in this game who join the factions but want to avoid PvP at all costs. Its like having an army made of nothing but concientous objectors.

Well at least with the public starports, you get the feel they have to be big enough to handle a ship.
I mean go to Dant and look at the size of the X-Wing wreck. Its BIG. Look at the size of the shipwrecks in Mos Eisley & Mos Entha (those scale to just a lil larger than a YT1300 or a Nova Courier)
And Y-WIngs are long suckers.
Imagine a Y-Wing landing in the middle of your town, where would you even pretend to have it be able to land at? Its at least the same size as a small house (and longer than a medium house). It would take tearing out the guts of a Guild Hall to have a hangar big enough to hold it)
Point is, in the NPC cities, there is enough space dedicated to the look and feel of a starport that would take up a huge amount of real estate in a player city.
Case in point:
Ok the spaceport at the smuggler outpost on Endor isnt much BUT look how big that landing platform is and its UGLY! You really want one of those right in the middle of your town?
The only way I would lower my opposition to player city starports are:
EDIT: well I did have some things then as I toped them out, the more I said, no way this would suck having starports everywhere

Player city starports IS too much to ask. It would demolish the business and advertising oppertunities NPC starports provide.
What I WOULD like to see, and consider acceptable, is player city JTL terminals. So people with JTL can depart and dock right near their own home. I don't even have JTL, but I fully support this. It can be placed just like a bank, and conveniently in front of/next to the shuttleport. This would also create more insentive for ppl to fork over the jtl money. Stubborn people like myself who are focused soley on the FS grind will still use coronet, and it would remain to be a bustling business center. Not to mention, who has room in their player city for a full sized starport? and the dant/dath style starport just looks ghetto like a greyhound bus station.

Player cityies are cool it would be nice to land in your home city, but if you own a shop a npc city is the best way to addverise your shop. i see it all the time outside mos eisly spaceport in Karui Galaxy.

Well back before the game came out it was planned as a city feature......not sure why they changed it or if the will ever do it.

It's been discussed a lot in the Politician forum when JtL was still in beta, and after its release. The devs clearly let people know that it was not planned to have starports or even starship terminals in player cities.

I for one hope they do NOT do this, people socialize so little in this game already, that would just further detriment any sort of community.
Besides, on Starsider, Crystal Hollow, DantooineDOES have its own starport, the Abandoned Rebel Base is all but in our city limits :-D </shamelessplug>

Agreed.
It's just not a good idea to make the NPC cities even more useless.

I would love to see them add some kind of PC starport, where only residents of that city can land, maybe include all members of your faction when the CB goes through. Simple idea, I dont think it would take too much resources and it would be a great attraction to player cities. I'de want the private spaceport to be at the 35 citizen mark.

Will never happen. Besides, with 1min shuttle waits and JTL why have a Starport in a Player City now?
