Why do it? Because it would be great to be able to land at my city rather than having to go through a shuttleport to get to a starport to get to my ship. I thought the idea of being able to place a landing pad instead of a house was a great idea. That way I can have my ship in my city but we don't have to have a starport in the city.

boy.........sure does suck when mayor decides it's time 2 change the city around a bit, moves the starport, and OOPS! forgot, we had ships parked there. Boy that sure sucks, oh well they're gone now
seriously though... ya don't see too many international airports in population 5000 towns for a reason........

ugh another PC starport thread/request
Ok here is why this is BAD..again
1. There would be no reason to go to NPC cities
2. If there were no reason to go to NPC cities PC cities would LOSE a major source of taxes aka the shuttle fees
3. Players would hate the idea of being charged to fly their spaceship if launch/landing fees were applied, especially when they can launch/land for free in a NPC city now.
4. If there were no reason to go to NPC cities, then the new Planetary Occupation system would be pointless as there would be no one there to fight because control of the city would be pointless because there would be nothing worth controlling.
other reasons not to
1 You only have to wait 60 measly seconds for a shuttle to get to the starport, then you only have to walk 10 measly meteres to the ship terminal. You have travel on a silver platter now and you ask for it on a platnium platter instead?

WHy stop there, why not have a starship terminal in your house and make the ship callable from your datapad so you can fly it directly from the bottom of Sennex to your kitchen and back. How bout skip having to travel all together, just make insta-transport things in your datapad that will take you to any waypoint you want (somehow that might be found too difficult too)

You have highspeed swoops
You have insta travel between all starports in the galaxy
and all startports are a 60 second ride from any town with a shuttle port
Travel simply DOES NOT need to get faster than this, maybe you need to go back to the days when we had none of that to remind you how good things are now. Maybe some heavy duty walking would add some perspective.
Travelling faster makes the SWG world get a lot smaller, and thats not a good thing.
