Thread: Empire day and new ships?
Many SW that did the grind that you feel justified by...did it by grinding the same schematics over and over again. In fact, I would be willing to wager that you acheived your "one of the first on the server" title by doing just that. They, like many AS and WS did not truely learn the profession till after they mastered it and began actually working on production models for sale. Don;t bother being all high and mighty here. Most of us have done or are doing the crafting gig. You are not pulling the wool over our eyes.

/respec for the win! Most SW I know respeced into it. Grinding resources is not an issue for most of them.
Are you going to buy your gear from someone who never learned how to do the job, and only has the title because he mastered some other profession? If so, suit yourself - but my customers prefer to do business with someone who's done it from the very beginning (one of the first Master Shipwrights on Kauri). I've learned how to make the best components, I've accumulated the best available resources to use for them, and I have the advantage of many months in the business.
Sure, I charge more than many respec Shipwrights - and my customers get their money's worth. It's funny that this degree of dedication to one's craft can be considered "lazy" by those who get their money from a mission terminal, but the nice thing about the way I do business is that such people are not my customers, they're someone else's.

I have in the past looked at the difference between cheap 350k master chassis and 500k - 1mill chassis and the difference was hardly even there, which is why many people feel you crafters justify slapping on the 50% iconic tax on things. You shipwrights definatly dont need anymore ships to build.
You're missing the point, you imbecile. Unlike a respec shipwright, I've been doing this for months. There is no substitute for experience. Maybe you just don't realize that because you do business with all the respec SW's you know...

No. You missed mine. How old are you? Clearly in that time you never learned manners. So, why would we assume that because you had been building longer youare better than one who respeced into it?Experience does not make a crafter great. Customer Service does.
First of all, I reserve my courtesy for those who don't impugn my expertise. You're continuing to do so, therefore I'll treat you like the obtuse indvidual you seem to be.
"Customer service" is meaningless if the product is inferior. No one's ever completed a space mission because they had great customer service. The quality of the components is whatmatters.
You can think you have all the experience in the game onthe subject, but anyone with your resources can make the same product.
Only if you know how... and if someone just respecced to shipwright, chances are they don't know what's needed to make the best components, which subcomponents work the best for each, which lines of experimentation pay off the most in the final product, etc.
My responses in this thread illustrate only how I respond to the petulant, self-centered portion of the player base that makes threads about how "greedy" shipwrights are. Greed, by definition, is wanting something you don't deserve. My merchandise is mine - I acquired the materials and created it myself - unless and until a customer offers me what I feel it's worth. That's not greed. Wanting something for less than it's worth, that's greed - ask anyone who works for a corporation that pays a slave wage for skilled employees.
No, all you see in this thread is how I treat that sort of person - if such people walked into my shop and whined like that, they'd be told "Get Out!" and promptlyadded to my ban list. I don't need customers like that - I have plenty of good repeat business. People who say "My friend's been using your ships and I see how well they perform - can you build me one?" and are willling to make it worth my while.
The problem you seem to have is that you think that all there is to business is making people feel nice about themselves. People don't come to me to feel nice - that's what Dancers and Musicians sell. They come to me for quality spacecraft and components - and that's what they get. For the record, I also tend to be very courteous to my customers (just ask them) and willing to work with them to make sure their needs are met. That, however, is part of the "product" and I reserve it for my customers - not people like those I've addressed here.
If everyone else "could" offer the same product, why don't they? There are many reasons: They don't actually know how to make the same product because they lack the experience or the proper materials; they use inferior resources in an effort to cut costs so they can "undercut" the higher-quality shipwrights; they don't actually realize that there are better products out there; or they just don't care. Funny how "customer service" doesn't factor into any of those.
If you want to patronize people who make second-best, because it costs less or they are friendlier people or what have you, be my guest. I'm neither so desperate for credits nor at a lack for other interesting pursuits that I'd need the patronage of someone who judges me without actually having seen the product.
You have a great day now, ya hear?
Continue with your wallowing in ego.Argueing with a fool like you achieves nothing. If you were on my server, I am positive I could find a respec SW that could match and exceed your product in everyway. Respecing doesn't make them any less of a SW.

I wouldn't object to a poster of a Lambda, either. I'm still digging the Vader plushie idea, though.
I'm pretty much up for anything with a Lambda on it, though. Hologram, poster, mini, whatever.
To those who didnt know the quest is on TC right NOW.
Apparently there IS Combat, the historian tells you to either farm rebels until 3 disks drop or goto some cantinas on various planets and get it from a contact. Im guessing if you can do both of those you will get 2 momentos as mentioned in the Friday Feature.
