I agree there should be public hangers for rent at spaceports as well as faction hangers as addons for the faction bases, also the "Adventure worlds"I.E.dathomir,endor, lok ect... should be free landing zones...But heres the catch if you land there your ship is subject to damage from either weather, bandits, creatures. look at all the trouble luke had with his x-wing in dagobah, and need I mention the millenium falcon's run in with mynocs in the cron drift? and of course your ship could be impounded at imperial held spaceports. and for all the nontwitchers out there, RELAX it seems that you are only concentrating on the "twitch" aspect of JTL I seem to remember the devs mentioning 100 different quests and skill tie ins with the game..and if they stay true to form the game will have mouse and keyboard support so you never have to touch a nasty joystick and rudder. at least EVERY game from x-wing to x-wing alliance did. and if your still moaning....DON'T BUY THE EXPANSION!!!!!!!!

Sir the odds of successfully navigating an asteroid field is exactly 3720 to one, NEVER tell me the

odds... Moraan Sunstrider

i think really the only thing that makes sense skill points wise when it comes to the SE is to just add special "Space" skill points. Skill points that are only applicable to space related professions. for instance

250 skill points -rifleman, marksman, tka, de, whatever

xx skill points -pilot, ship engineer, gunner, whatever

and is it just me, or does the lack of crosshairs in screenshots and movies a bit worrisome? i want the SE to be exactly like XW/TF/XvT/XWA with just some RPG elements that dont drastically effect the play style

but the lack of crosshairs in the screenshots has me worried that aiming is going to be skill based or something stupid like that...

MaxKempis..thats a good observation...something I have given no thought about.

Crosshairs Im fairly certain will be apart of space combat.

Ok you say that space is going to require player skill right? so why not change the battlefields on the planets to real time combat instead of the wait times? hey this is a suggestion, but the battlefields are getting ignored and maybe if it required player skill too instead of charicter skill it might attract more people

Aaron..Im sorry to disappoint you but the datapad thingy for your spacecraft is what theDev. have in mind. Thats the last I heard about it unless it has changed.

I dont think you have to park in a space dock to get planetside. I think thats what you said. As far as I know you can land planetside into a city spacedock. I aslo dont believe there will be animations for this. Just the good old loading screen that we are all too familiar with :-).

Docking in space statestations is till a great idea if you have business to do on the station. Iow the station should have a rela purpose other than provide shuttle service to a planet.

If there are structures in space that we can dock/land on I really hope there will be some windows to look into outerspace and not just cockpit huds for ships.

Yes I know what you mean about the SW feel. I personally am not really hung up on the SW feel but more so on other things like are there anyroads?...spaceport designs are all too similar-no windows?. No domed cities and tons of other stuff that you find in a sci-fi setting. Maybe in SWG rehaul. Not to knock SWG too much because it has come a long way and stillhas a long way to go I think.

I think the Devs have done a pretty good job of balancing Star Warsiness with the necessity to make a playable game that will appeal to lots of people.

I think it would be great to have landing animations and instanced hangars... Maybe even require the ship's pilot to navigate the ship into the open air and up into space. But alas, I'm afraid it's not to be.

Perhaps this has been covered earlier, but I haven't been able to find it... Has there been any official word on freighters and other "passenger" capable ships being able to hold multiple players and actually have interiors that people can walk around in?

More than one player on a ship has been confirmed. Thats the last I heard ..subject to change of course.

Walking around on a ship has not been confirmed.

Im sure we'll get tons of information on SE with E3 starting up right now.

First thought: Wohoooo! Space is here!

Second thought: Are they for real? 1-engined TIEs and stuff? And that funnylooking Falcon-replica...

Anyway, this game never had much Star Wars in it.. Few examples: Credits, and their ingame value vs. SW-timeline (about 10x ?) and the whole Jedi-thingy...

Yes, Im in it for the StarWars-part, and I really hope they can put a little SW look/feel into this expansion...

Whats the deal on the ships, anyway? X-wing, Y-wing. Z-95, TIE/F and TIE/B = ok, but A-wings, TIE/I and TIE/A? Ill go with TIE/I if they move the storyline a bit forward, tho...
And I hope they put in a stock YT1300, not a MilFal... wich means less shields, (yes, starwars-ships do have shields...) no lower lower quad-gun and so on, but its gonna be way more starwars. (tho fuzzy-dice in the rear-view would be great.. and an 8-track!)

And please, PLEASE no whip-gazillion-ton-YT-1300-out-of-datapad-thingy! (read somewhere that a guy explained this with some materialisation and figured it was ok, since it was SciFi and it might become possible in the future anyway. Hello? This is Star Wars! and it is a LONG TIME AGO, aka not in the future...) why not go whith the idea of an instanced hangar, where you and friends can repair the ship or upgrade her, and whats really necisary is the anything-above-figher-size-has-interior-so-you-can-move-around-as-in-a-building-thingy, maybe an instanced interior to? Or would that make it nesiscary to load when entering/returning from cockpit/gunwells?

why not make the hangar in the space-engine? as in: when you and your group take the elevator from the spaceport main-"hole" to your instanced hangar, where your ship is parked, you all load the space engine, viola, youre there, and you can launch way faster... (right?) {--having second thoughs about thisone, tho... but the elevator-from-spaceport-to-instanced-hangar still works...

(on the lightspeed/hyperspace-issue: aint the deal something like this: you go to lightspeed IN hyperspace? Erm, I mean, in hyperspace you dont throttle up or down, or maneuver... you basically float on the speed gained before entry, (therefore coords are so important, and you need a stable speed when entering.), and cut the hyperdrive when you reach your goal or detect a hyper-mass-shadow. So, anyway; you accelerate to lightspeed, then kick inn the hyperdrive... Dont remeber where I read this, but it was some offical site or something... a book perhaps?)

Oh, and dont do the dock-at-orbiting-spacestation-and-shuttle-down-to-the-planet... Yeah, good idea, but wrong fiction... aint starwars!

btw, can someone tip LucasArts licensing about this game? not sure they have noticed it yet... Seems to me like its a MMORPG with a wift of starwars, not a "Live in the StarWars universe" based on MMORPG...

Go twitchy!

Just me speaking out... flame away!

I just saw the trailer and the graphics look nice. I only have one concern about the video: Is it me or does anyone else think the Tie and X Wing were moving too slow in the in-game videofootage? For ships that small they are supposed to be fast. Maybe they were on cruise or something but they seemed to moving too slow.Does anyone elsethink they were moving a little too slow?

"And for all the people crying about twitch style just hone your skills.Thats the cool thing about twitch games you can acutally get better with time at a real pace you cant go from being a novice to a master in 4 hours being afk."

Talyin,

The anti-twitch factor isn't just driven by desire to play another type of game. Many people who play MMORPGs simply can't play the game you are asking for. Their physical limitations won't allow them to hone their skills. Try to open your mind a bit and imagine not being able to play because you can't use your fingers or your eyesight is very bad or your color vision is nonexistent.

I am not telling you to play a game you don't like, but I am asking the devs and the players to remember that not everyone is physically equal. Making the play of SE totally twitchy leaves a lot of people out, by desire or by physical limitation.

I hope your comments were not as callous and mean in intent as they were in your post.

How about a combination of both twitchy and skill-based where skills influence but do not replace guidance and strategy?

I have to say I'm very impressed with how Jump to Lightspeed has progressed. I've been a long-time fan of Star Wars flight sims ever since the original X-Wing. A lot of people out there are dying for a new Star Wars flight sim, with the last real one being X-Wing Alliance. That was quite a few years ago. The Rogue Squadron games were nice, but atmospheric flight really didn't give that old-school Star Wars feeling.

Rather than get into a rant on creating a Star Wars atmosphere, I have one simple point that hopefully a dev or correspondant will read. Please, please, please cut down on the nebulae effects. Most of the videos I've seen look stunning, but it looks like the pilot is on some kind of acid trip with all the nebulae in the background. A few effects here and there are great, but right now it looks like massive overkill.
