I think the first reb mission is bugged.; The enemy fighters keep respawning much faster than I can kill them, so I wind up facing 3-4 tier 5's, 3-4 tier 4's and a few tier 3's.; The stupid cargo ship is so as mollasses in winter and the dang enemy ships keep tearing my shiled to pieces with missiles.
Is there some kind of trick to this mission, a technique to make it easier, or is it meant to be done in a group?
If you're doing this mission by yourself it can get a little overwhelming
Disable the attacking ships but do not destroy them
That will give you more time to take care of the rest before more show up
I actually just finishedthevettemission the other day without missiles... I followed the advice of people here (BIG help) and just modified it a little.
Once the fighter escort is destroyed, head for the corvette.
Target gun 5 which (from memory, sorry if its inaccurate) is the bottom turret. This is the only gun that will hit you if you are behind and low to the corvette. Because the vette doesn't agro you until you fire first, you can line up really well and the gun went down in one pass for me. Make sure you leave the vette from the right direction so that you never see the mass of turrets on the top side.
After turret 5 is down, you just have to watch out for turrets 6 and 7 which are the side turrets. These are a git if you are going for the shield generators but you don't have to destroy them... I did though cos I was not good enough to avoid them all the time. :-)
With 6 and 7 dead, its easy taking out the shield generators as long as you take it slow and line up properly. After that its just the engines to take over the vette. As the guides say, take the ship out about 6k from the station.. I didn't (7.5k) and got swarmed by ships. These were OK to disable but when the gunboat jumped in I legged it like the bigchicken I am and left it to the vette. There were another 2 gunboats that spawned near the station which didn't help but the vette made it through with no significant damage (systems were about 60% if I remember correctly and shields were at 100?!)
Hope it helps... Incidentally I made it with Pilot 3433 which was great right up to the point where I wanted to fly the reward ship?! Grrr... Just got to 4433 yesterday though and am loving the new mean machine!

Someone said the other day that they couldn't use a Jedi Starfighter they purchased from someone, without having gone through the quest themselves.
I know you have to be min. 4333 pilot to use these awarded ships.
With respect to the Advanced X-Wing... as a 4333 pilot can I use one purchased from someone? Yes Or do I need to do the quest myself in order to use it? No
Anyone know? Yup
Thanks.
