This works. Did it 3 times last night for myself and 2 of my guildies. A little word of advice, have your IFF Transponder ready to go because when the Vette hyperspaces the Gunboats come straight for you.

I did this quest without knowing that I was. I told eyma that they were weak. Am I screwed or is there a way to get the advanced x-wing still?

That is a good point. When the vette hyperspaced I was about 1.5k from the reb space station. I flew in and recieved my reward and then was blown away by the gunboat.

Yeah this mission is really simple now that I read a few posts. What I ended up doing was taking out escorts (dont fire on vette). Then get right behind engines and take out shield and secondary shield with missiles (It took me 7missiles for both). At that point you can now target the engines, do not destroy yet. You will notice the vette is heading toward the rebel space station. I waited until it was 6k away then disabled the engines which starts the automatic takeover. Once the takeover is complete its time to escort (dont go near the vettes guns until the take over is complete). Some people have waited until the vette is 4k from the reb space station before taking it over. Once the escort starts you will have to kill a few waves of tier 3 and 4 fighters. When the gunboat spawns stay away from it, the corvette will handle the gunboat and being so close to its hyperspace point you dont have to worry about it being destroyed. As soon as I saw the gunboat spawn I headed to the reb space station. Just as I reached the space station the mission completed.







I took this one step further when I did it. Once the takeover was complete I just headed straight for the Rebel Outpost and watched the 'vette from distance. I left it to fight the fighters itself. I think they may have knocked out all its guns so it didnt destroy them all, and the gunboats never spawned. It still had over 50% systems intact when it hypered out and I completed the mission.

My current one is in pretty bad shape from getting blow up. How do you get a new one? I don't see the quest on the rebel station anymore.

Once it degrades in quality, its pretty much gone. You never actually lose it, but the HP gets so low that one shot death is usually the outcome after your shields and armor go.

Edit: oh and to answer more directly: You dont get a "replacement"

can't u use chasis repair kits on it? Like the ones u use in the multiplayer ships to fix it?

You can fix it to 100% but the overall quality goes down.

The only way to get a replacement is to buy one from another player which will cost you a few credits


Personally, think I'll be waiting to use it till I master so I can get me some of that deep space decay free repair stuff...

I think the first reb mission is bugged.; The enemy fighters keep respawning much faster than I can kill them, so I wind up facing 3-4 tier 5's, 3-4 tier 4's and a few tier 3's.; The stupid cargo ship is so as mollasses in winter and the dang enemy ships keep tearing my shiled to pieces with missiles.


Is there some kind of trick to this mission, a technique to make it easier, or is it meant to be done in a group?

I've been having the same problem. The one time I got some help on this, I was making some real progress and was handling the fighters really well. Then, somebody else happened to be doing the Vette mission. The gunboats that spawned to attack the Vette targeted both of us and killed us in seconds.

First of all, if you destory the vettes guns, its fine


They respawn when you take it over


Heres the trick


Do not disable the engines until you are around 6-7km from the station


And leave the attacking starships disabled after its taken over


Or better yet, just have them engage you and not the corvette


The longer those spawns are in play, the less of a chance the Gunboat will spawn


Avoiding that t5 gunboat is the actual hard part


Also I'd advise that you take out the number 5 gun mount first, that is the only gun on the bottom side, so you can hide down and below


Makes strafing runs to disable the top-side guns much easier knowing you can dive beneath it without getting shot
