you wouldve needed to read the book in order to see that obi wan did have an advantage in flying that fighter. that jedi starfight typically had an astromech that helped in targetting systems, because the cannons if improperly aimed could blow off your nose cone and essentially you'd be space dust. shortly after obi wan lands boba goes to check out his ship and reports back to jango, who informs him that the r2 unit installed helps calculate hyperspace jumps and thus the pilot must have very good skills, he then alludes to it having to be a jedi.

so you see, because of his force abilities, in the example you cited, obi wan was able to control the willy cannons of his starfighter without aid from an astromech where another pilot would have needed help from an astromech

So the Enhanced Reflexes - Vehicle Control Tree will have no influence on JTLS? Is it only good for speeders??

Well if Jedi dont get any unique advantages in space that is fine. HoweverI also expect Jedito not be penalized for death in space then. That is if our characters actually die an clone when our ships are destroyed.

Yes. Speed mods go towards increasing rate of accelrationand handling mods go towards tightening your turning radius on GROUND vehicles. Your ability to mindlessly grind against the same mobs 10 hours a day aren't going to save you in Space. You'll have to actually put some effort foward and do some work to be good. Pick up a sidewinder or wingman and X-wing vs. TIE and start practicing now.

Since jedi are supposed to have great reflexes and able to see things before they happen, perhaps there should be a system in place that gives them a sort of "Jedi Sense." By putting a half a second delay or a full second delay on firing in the start of a fight (lasers need to charge or something),a jedi starpilot could get a warning of an incoming attack. With this a jedi could potentially save themsleves from a quickflame out by a volley of laserfire via an ambush or surprise attack. It may give a skilled Jedi pilot the moment they'd need to evade the attack or they could get caught unaware anyway. Having a system like this could sparea jedi from a quick flame out but wouldnt neccessarily be an advantage over a prolonged dogfight.

Other than that I dont know if Jedi should have anything else as Obiwan didnt really seem to have any additional powers in his encounter with Jango Fett in the asteroid field as seen in Ep II.

No "special" abilities will be added. Since it is going to be a twitchy action game, RPG-skill based enhancements won't come into play. There has been some discussion on what might be possible after the initial release of JTL, but anything like that is a long, long way off...

I'm sorry if I am being rude but I just can't get over how long everything is taking and how seemingly inept the developer team is (even though it truth they can't be THAT inept.... right??? Well, I hope not).

Anyhow, Jedi extra abilities for piloting is a no brainer. They should be there. They should not be something "A long way off". Jedi are "in tune with the force". Don't make them space gods. Just give them something a little extra. If Jedi abilities aren't there then how could you consider JTL finished and complete?!

IN FACT:

-BH still doesn't work.

-Jedi stilldoesn't work.

-Jedi Knight trials are a huge letdown and totally uncreative.

-Combat barely works. (and the mysterious Combat Balance, originally scheduled for JANUARY 04, is nowhere to be found)

-There are still huge imbalances everywhere, not just combat.

-GCW is a joke

-Droid revamp wasn't complete (the lack of combat droids is really lame). This will be finished sometime later.

-Pistoleer barely works.

-The lag. Oh my God the lag. You should have used an unreal engine! FPS on my brandy-new Alienware is not what they should be and the server side lag is constant. (and only seems to get worse as the months go on).

Obviously I could continue pretty much forever.

So, why am I yammering on about this? Because this is unacceptable. Think about it. SWG is a RETAIL RELEASE game. Think about how broken it was when it shipped. Think about how broken it is now, ONE YEAR LATER!!!

This release is as broken as Enter The Matrix (If not more). I just don't understand how it is much more acceptable for an MMORPG to be broken than games in other genres. And now they are releasing an expansion to SWG whenSWG still is broken in a million different ways?!?!

And JTL isn't going to have a full set of features.

I mean I took SIX MONTHS off to let this game get fixed. It seemed at the time that they had a decent plan for fixing the game. But with the Jedi Revamp part 1 looking really lame, and the fabled combat balance still nowhere in sight, things do not look good.

Of course I'll stick around and go down with the ship because I love the game, community and TH (you rock homeboy), but so far it gets more and more dissapointing.

This isn't a flame, and isn't really directed at TH (he's just the messenger). It just feels like the lights are on but no one is home at SOE-Austin. It sounds like there are a lot of developers. I've seen game developement. What could be the big hurdle in getting this code fixed? Hire double the staff for the next six months. Do SOMETHING. You know that JTL is SWG's last chance for huge widespread success (instead of always being "just successful for an MMORPG"). So make it happen. JUST DO IT.

I am very glad to hear that. Any other thing would have been a bad decision.

I have also a suggestion to keep players playing standart characters:

Suggestion:

Let the jedi death-penaltys (xp loss) also apply in space. This way you would give every players a great reason to keep playing a standart character and we will see also other players than jedis.

Man jedi's are such whiny cry babies...they gonna rule the ground, and now they want to rule the air?

my gawd man! I've played this game i bet more hours then any Jedi.....sure ive spent it HAVING FUN instead of mindless grinding....I've accepted the fact Jedi will rule the ground, but to give them bonuses in the air...

that just aint right.

What part of TWITCH GAME didn't you understand. Must have been the TWITCH part. JTL is TWITCH based. Ships will be customizable and player crafted, but, piloting abilities will be based on the player's ability not your character's ability. This has been said so many times by the devs I'm starting to hear it in my sleep. Why don't you understand that.

Some Jedi were outstanding pilots (Luke, Anakin/Vader) some where awful pilots (Obi-Wan). JTL is a totally different type of game compared to SWG and it should stay that way. If the idea of being successful is based on hand-eye coordination as opposed to how many hours you can play in a day grinding out skill boxes scares you then stick with the ground game. Don't try to ruin the experience for those of us that wish to just play a game based on player skill. Jedi are already ruining the game enough as it is. Lets not have them infrect space before it even takes off as well.
