No, the create the professions with the mindset that SOME people will master them, and those few will be well famous, or infamous for doing that. Having every second Character I see as a mster something or another doesn't fit. Not everyone can be best at stuff, thats why the few that are - are the best and should be renowned for that.

yup your right, its not fair, however, life isnt and no-one including the dev's care, so fight fire with fire, if you cant complete your master without going into pvp space, take 10 friends with you and gang bang thier ass just like they are trying to do to you.

The point is we shouldnt HAVE to fight them. The devs completely ignored the 80% of the playerbase and basically lied to us AGAIN when they said pvp would be consentual in space. You shouldnt be forced into something that 80% of the SWG population DOES NOT enjoy when doing your PvE master mission.
But you donb't have to do it, no one is forcing you to go there. You want to be a master pilot? Then you willingly go there knowing that it will be tough, and hard.
I don't understand why having every player make Master (in any class) is a right? It should be a reward for someone that went that extra mile, and got the reward for working hard, not something that is so common it means nothing anymore.
How many aces are there? Very few, and they are feared everywhere because they are better then others, and I think that having every other player be that level demineshes the experience.
I could, and do, say the same about Jedi - there should be very very few, if any.
No offense, but that makes no sense...
They create the professions with the mindset that people will master them, so to say being master is a privelege you need to earn doesn't really play out. When they were creating the profession, I'm sure they did so with the assumption that everyone who took it would likely try to/want to master it, especially since it doesn't require traditional skill points. If they wantedyou to sacrifice, they'd have made it so it took skill points that way you'd have to drop ground masteries in order to master pilot, then it'd be a real sacrifice. Opening someone up to something they don't want to do isn't a challenge, it's just an aggrivation.
LOL You think you will be famous for mastering pilot?! OHH LOOK OUT, its a master pilot! Women will hurl themselves at your feet and people will bow before your l33tn3ss! You will be comparable to darth vader you d00d You! This is exactly the elitest attitude I was talking about in all my other posts. Its as if these people have some mental condition that requires them to exert how superior they are to all others in video games.
Reading comprehension just isn't your forte, huh?Let me put it this way - a way you can understand, besides monkey-talk, if you have 10 people with a master level in a class, those people will become celebreties. Lets compare them to einstien, ok? He was special, and was treated specially, because of that.
Same for masters, if the mastery was reserved for only a few people.
Again, and again and again, I am not going to be a master. I do not consider myself superior to almost anyone - you excluded because I can actually read what people write here - however, you seem to need to compensate for some RL issues that make it so important for you to show how bad assed you are - you HAVE to have that Master Pilot level.
Lmao, you really are whacked if you think you will become a celebrity just by having that title. All it means is that you are a powergamer plaing 20 hours a day to master before anyone else. Then to keep your celebrityness you must go and greif all others from getting master pilot. You people make me sick, you have to ruin one person's enjoyment for the sake of your "coolness" Oh ya im going to totally love a master dic.....k *cough* ace pilot. Get over yourself, this game wasnt made to revolve around you.
How can it revolve around me? I am not even close to mastering anything. Ummm... Let me re-explain this concept to you, ok? If there are only 10 people with a certain master class, it makes these people unique. I never said anything about griefing, and I deplore it. However, I think that a system to allow only very few from having a master class would be a great idea. Not so only I can have it, becuase I will not, buyt to keep it very rare, and available to only a few people.

Im glad this guy said it before me. And its evident YOU have the reading problem big shooter. Master anything isnt rare! IT ISNT MENT TO BE RARE! And no one will swoon over a master anything if they are rare, if anything that would now identify who the pricks are on each server and who everyone hates because they are holding the rest of the server down.
Show me where it says Mastering anything is rare, show me. When I read the manual and look at the skill boxes I see master as the last skill box, nothing more.
AV-21s are rare, Firespprays are rare, jet packs are rare, but EVERY single player has a master box on each and every skill, and Piloting in particular takes ZERO skill points, so ANYONE with 0-250 can get Master, so tell me how it is even able to be precieved as rare like and AV-21 or Firespray or Jet pack?
Woah woah woah, relax there guy, I was agreeing with you and walk talking to the guy who thinks mastering anything should be rare.

It is not forced if you don't have to do it. Forced PVP = everytime and place you launched - you would be overt.
NON Forced PVP = certain Zones, and if you go overt, by choice.
You go Overt because you are FORCED to in order to finish the profession, therefore PVP the issue at hand is not by choice. You want Master pilot (choice) you must go overt (Not choice), SOE says PvP is consentual. Where did I specifically choose PvP in that?
No where. I choose Master and had PvP thrust on me.
It SHOULD be, IMO. That how I started the whole thing. I said that if being a mster of ANY CLASS were rare, it would make the person that achived it special. Remember when you saw the first guy with a huge pet, or a mount, or anything like that? It takes out the ordinary and makes things special. Thats what I would like to see, but it isn't in the ground game. Perhaps this is a way for SOE to change it.

Please, stop posting. No one shares the elitest idea you do, most everyone says its dumb. We get it, you want master anything to be like jedi, you dont want to see masters of any profession running around. You want them to be like jedi, only not jedi at all. And here is the answer everyone gives you...
No.

Mastering a profession is an accomplishment, you mastered it, not everyone chooses to master that profession, they can but they dont. making it rare by placin a quota does only one thing, it reward 16 hour a day gamers, that's it. That is who owns AV-21, Jet packs, and Firesprays 16 hours a day gamers. In an MMO you can make gear rare, but limiting professional achievement will cause the game to fail. Examples.
Everquest- Level based 1-70. If only X number of players can get lvl 70, why have 70 lvls listed, by the time you get to the cut off you failed, not because of lack of skill but because of lack of time, if you can only play an hour a day by your account that makes you less of a skilled player then a 16 hour+ a day gamer.
City of Heroes- Level based 1-50. If only X number of players can get lvl 50, why have 570 lvls listed, by the time you get to the cut off you failed, not because of lack of skill but because of lack of time, if you can only play an hour a day by your account that makes you less of a skilled player then a 16 hour+ a day gamer.
Lack of time to fill the quota does not mean lack of skill, except to you.
Hey, first, I know it will never happen, it's my oen little fantasy ok? ![]()
But see, here is the issue - "by the time you get to the cut off you failed" you didn't fail. You simply did not become the best there is. Thats not a problem, only so many can be the best ![]()
See, thats the thing - getting to level 70, or being a master at something to me isnt the goal - having fun, and meeting interesting people and seeing things for th first time is. Thats why it will never bother me ![]()
