Ok, i agree something like chek points it`s better than nothing.

But, i don´t see how pause, can affect to rest of the people, since everybody have their own enemies, you cant shoot to others player`s enemies, just freeze them and player during pausing, and to avoid other players seeing some statics ships, just put them in "4ª dimension", not visible during pause.

When you unpause, you are still in the same situation.

Check point it´s nice, because it`s annyoning repeat all the mission, when you fail, thats tedious, not fun.

Better players, maybe don´t need check ponit, or not many times, but for casual and not good fps/players its great and fun.

i would like to see both implemented

What about all those NPC's flying around you when you are paused. Are thay just gong to stop in there tracks. I dont think so. Pause has never been implememted in a MMO and will not work but some sort of stage completion has. That is about as good as thay can do.

I know for a fact I have been attacked buy many NPC's while on missions. I love it and Pray thay never take it away. It adds so much realism to the game. I dont know how it is taking everyone hours to do one mission. I am completing all mine in half hour at most. You cant count the time it takes you to get the mission then to get all the parts you need and set up your ship. Once I am in space and then go to the mission location it takes 20-30 minutes to fin. I am 4/3/3/3/ so thay may get longer but that is great. I have a wife and she is playing next to me. I think the missions are great. Some require people to help and others are just anough chalange for you to squeek buy and complete.

NO PAUSE NEEDED. Plan your time out. 20-30 min is not bad at all for a MMO heck 30-50 min is not bad. It is not a FPS. It ruquires time to play and work to progress. MMO's have always been this way and always will.

"Pause" in these types of games will never happen...but I understand your problem, I too have a real life and sometimes an hour or more of constant online is not possible. So what I do is "park" my ship at the nearest spacestation while I take care of real life and then when done, take off again, seems to work for me so far.

A real "pause" button on an MMORPG is almost impossible to do. MMORPGs have something going on at every second, you can't simply pause it and everything stops. It doesn't work like that.
I agree that missions should have a feature that when you getdone with one leg, it "saves" the data so if you log out or leave the system you don't have to go back and do it all over again. If you get destroyed you still fail your mission.

Checkpoints would be the only answer to this. I've had my share of issues with this as well, but as one poster put it, I just block out gametime when everyone is in bed and I won't be disturbed (except in extreme cases...in that case, game gets turned off, period). It's all about time management.

Pause is absolutely the last thing we need I think. Sorry if u get killed 'cauze ur baby is crying, but you just cant stop the whole thing! If I need to go somewhere for a few minutes I just log off for a sec so when I'm back I just have to click "log into server with chosen character" (or whatever there stands) and a little load follows and 5 seconds later I'm playing again. If u are just doing a mission, well thats bummer... Try to live with it, we all we have that problem, but its better then the server beeing on pause all the time cauze someone needs to pee lol

I hate to be the devil's advocate but, here's how pause could "hurt" other players. Lets say me and you are in Deep Space, you engage me in Pvp. My shields are down to 5% and I'm about dead.... I hit pause. Now we're both stuck sitting idle in space. I disconnect my modem and go to sleep. Chances are you're going to sit their for awhile till.........?

Just a thought. I fully agree thought that you should be able to run the JTL missions in pieces. You do your escort, you dock with the ship, as soon as it wants you to go to a new waypoint, you just go.. answer the phone, have dinner, etc. I have done this ingame now. Finished first 3 parts of a mission and just took sometime before going to the next waypoint. In general it seems to work like the ground missions. The NPC's don't spoawn till you get within X meters of the target.

Interesting idea, but I think "pause" would just be another exploitable "feature".

maby not pause but making check points on missions would work so basicaly most missions are set up into multiple parts they should just change it so you always resart the mission after your last compleat section then you can basicaly pause the mission till you have more time but not pause the game would make it easyer for people with limited time as they wouldnt have to run long missions all in one go and it wouldnt afect anything else.

I can agree on this, but not the "pause." Make missions that have multiple parts/sections to them create a checkpoint after completing each goal, that way in case rl jumps in, they can leave and come back picking up right where they left off. It would be very tricky though... as this could be easily abused. Some missions put the new goal right on you immediately so you don't have enough time to recoup on purpose... someone could use the checkpoint thing to bypass this. Leave the system, get repairs, come back. The devs designed it so if you leave the system before completion it will fail on purpose.

But in reference to the 1-2 hrs time to do a mission some people are coming up with, where are you getting these numbers from? To be honest, I have not encountered a mission yet that I couldn't complete in under half an hour. But that's not to say that I haven't been destroyed or had to hyper out to save my life several times... I have. But the actual missions themselves take less than half an hour. Whether rl interferes or you are destroyed... either way the mission resets and you have to start over... that isn't the actual time it takes to do a mission.

I dunno if what I'm trying to say is getting across or not, but nonetheless, if the reason why it's taking you so long to do this missions is cause you either keep getting destroyed or you can't shoot them down fast enough, then here's a couple quick suggestions for ya. First, and perhaps least time consuming, is to find a couple friends to help. Sometimes 1 is all you need.

Second suggestion, which is longer but helps you out a lot more in the long run, is to fly out into an area of low Tier craft and just do target practice with them. When I first played X-Wing when it come out a long time ago I sucked at piloting too. I couldn't complete some of the most basic of missions. Hell, I even failed the pilot proving grounds a couple of times! (for those that don't know, the goal was just merely to fly under a bunch of arches on platforms while nailing small targets for extra credit in x amount of time.) But instead of throwing up my hands and quitting, I just went back and did the training missions (pilot proving ground and historical missions) over again... and again... and again... and again, until I finally got good enough to where those missions I was having problems with were a breeze. In fact, I did so well with that, that by the time I hit my first true mission, I did so well that I earned the Kalidor Crescent (basically it was a medal for getting x number of points on a mission - an exceptional pilot award) on the first try! Do the same thing here with the low tier craft. Eventually you'll get good enough to where you can do most of them solo in no time at all. But as I said, the second option is a lot more time consuming, but will make you a better pilot. So choose which ever is more important to you....

Firstly bub, like he said, some of us have small children/babies that can't be put on a timeclock. Don't be an idiot.

Now, I don't agree with a "pause" feature, but I do like the "checkpoint" solution. As long as your still in the area of your mission, you can continue, but if you land on a planet, you lose the checkpoints like you end a duty mission. If you can't stay at the pc, the hyper to a location, do what you need, then return. Missions resume. It's not perfect, but it will give those that have unexpected things occurring the same opportunity to continue.

Yes work on time management. I am a new father with a 3 monthold baby girl and I do not play until I am damn sure that I have time to play. A pause feature in an MMO is just plain stupid to ask for.. lol I can just see the other players going W T F.. who paused the damn game? haha
