Well once I had to go down to help with shopping bags and stuff and was in the middle of a space mission, luckily I had a friend of mine with me, I just went the same speed with the escort and told my friend I was afk (about 5 min) then came back and everything was fine and was back in business. On ground I just leave my character to fight and tellmy buddysI went afk so they could heal me (back in 5 min) and back in business.

Well only solution is get a partner and if you go afkwell then you die and getxp for those you killed.then doing checkpoints.Want more xp or just use checkpoints and lose xp ? Not being mean

without checkpoints

-start mission

-enemys come in

-kill them (xp)

-afk

-die

start mission

-enemy come

-Kill them (xp)

-ect (maybe move up a part)

With checkpoint

-start mission

-enemys come in

-kill them (xp)

-die

-start mission at checkpoint

-kill them

Well then since you need xp which solution is better ? With or without checkpoints ? I chose without checkpoints (btw pause is out of the question since you cant pause real life even tho it would be fun for 2 seconds). Not being mean or a "idiot" or a "noob". Just you people want to master a profession and want checkpoints and lose beautiful xp ? If anybody gots a better theory or solution lets hear it. (reasonable) Have fun with this game. The game is good now. Only thing I see adding is craftable items and world expanding. The rest I see is fine.

But... when you get stuck on a mission and are capped out on xp, the trainer won't talk to you until you finish his errand...

Pause, as stated, is not possible, but checkpoints should be implemented.

Solution for those that don't like checkpoints. Optional checkpoints. You get one/two 'saves' at checkpoints. The message box pops up, "High command is pleased with your progress. Are you ready to continue?" <yes> <no>

Nobody talks about a server pause with thousen of players paused, or other similar stupid thing, i was talking about some kind of pause just for the player and their enemies, but as i see after playing and reading some answers, you are not only against your own enemies never, there are random ones, thats can attack you and other players, so is not posible under those circunstances too, i admited yet as you can read in my last post...¿some other smart guy need to repeat the same again?.

maby not pause but making check points on missions would work so basicaly most missions are set up into multiple parts they should just change it so you always resart the mission after your last compleat section then you can basicaly pause the mission till you have more time but not pause the game would make it easyer for people with limited time as they wouldnt have to run long missions all in one go and it wouldnt afect anything else.

I can agree on this, but not the "pause." Make missions that have multiple parts/sections to them create a checkpoint after completing each goal, that way in case rl jumps in, they can leave and come back picking up right where they left off. It would be very tricky though... as this could be easily abused. Some missions put the new goal right on you immediately so you don't have enough time to recoup on purpose... someone could use the checkpoint thing to bypass this. Leave the system, get repairs, come back. The devs designed it so if you leave the system before completion it will fail on purpose.

But in reference to the 1-2 hrs time to do a mission some people are coming up with, where are you getting these numbers from? To be honest, I have not encountered a mission yet that I couldn't complete in under half an hour. But that's not to say that I haven't been destroyed or had to hyper out to save my life several times... I have. But the actual missions themselves take less than half an hour. Whether rl interferes or you are destroyed... either way the mission resets and you have to start over... that isn't the actual time it takes to do a mission.

I dunno if what I'm trying to say is getting across or not, but nonetheless, if the reason why it's taking you so long to do this missions is cause you either keep getting destroyed or you can't shoot them down fast enough, then here's a couple quick suggestions for ya. First, and perhaps least time consuming, is to find a couple friends to help. Sometimes 1 is all you need.

Second suggestion, which is longer but helps you out a lot more in the long run, is to fly out into an area of low Tier craft and just do target practice with them. When I first played X-Wing when it come out a long time ago I sucked at piloting too. I couldn't complete some of the most basic of missions. Hell, I even failed the pilot proving grounds a couple of times! (for those that don't know, the goal was just merely to fly under a bunch of arches on platforms while nailing small targets for extra credit in x amount of time.) But instead of throwing up my hands and quitting, I just went back and did the training missions (pilot proving ground and historical missions) over again... and again... and again... and again, until I finally got good enough to where those missions I was having problems with were a breeze. In fact, I did so well with that, that by the time I hit my first true mission, I did so well that I earned the Kalidor Crescent (basically it was a medal for getting x number of points on a mission - an exceptional pilot award) on the first try! Do the same thing here with the low tier craft. Eventually you'll get good enough to where you can do most of them solo in no time at all. But as I said, the second option is a lot more time consuming, but will make you a better pilot. So choose which ever is more important to you....

Ok, I can appreciate you trying to help... in a way. What you're saying is these missions are hard for people because they're not good enough and you want them to "improve themselves". You still missed the point or haven't tried enough pilot professions. You probably chose one of the easier pilot professions that have a 30 minute max on missions.

I know if you do your missions in less than 30 minutes, you don't know about Imperial Storm Squadron. Not all pilot professions are balanced. SS is the hardest one to make it through. I spent a week to get to 3222 in SS. Then I quit and did Freelancer Corsec and got to 3333 in 24 hours including 8 hours sleep time. The super easy Corsec missions are all less than 30 minutes and can be solo'd. They get a bit tougher at tier 4 but still nothing at all like Storm Squadron. Not even close. If you want a challenge try that one.

I think you need to get your priorities straight. Either ditch the kid and the wife, or stop playing the game. When you're playing, tell your old lady to get the kid. There's no pause in real life. And, the missions were designed the way they were so we wouldn't have 1,000 master pilots the day after the frickin' game came out. You people have been spoiled for way too long with TKM being able to solo crazy sh*t in the game. You can't solo everything in five minutes anymore and now you're crying. I just don't get it.

I recently became "man o the house" and have a lot of distraction that constantly pulls me from the computer. it really sucks the big one when a nicely put together ship is destroyed while you were afk, so what i do is i get no sleep!

even though a mission might take about an hour long ( what mission btw? ) try to limit sessions to an hour or a little more. i know this game rules and itd be great to spen all my waking time on it, but what keeps th game fresh is not playing it every possible moment.

edited cuz i wasnt done....

I don't want them to do anything. They can do what ever they damn well please. I am merely suggesting a possible course of action to help themselves rather than looking to the devs all the time for help. Now whether or not they follow my suggestion... I could care less. There are many more ways of solving the problem other than the 2 that I suggested.

I didn't say that the reason why they're failing is because they suck at it. You can still be a very good pilot and fail at some of these. My suggestion number 1 would probably apply more for those people, the ones that are good, but just happen to be doing a really hard mission set. Suggestion number 2 would apply more towards the people that are having a hard time hitting their targets. Maybe I used a bit of bad wording in there, but I am in no way suggestion that you all suck and that is why you keep failing. I do believe that I even called myself out in there saying that I have died or run away from a mission several times.

I have no clue which level of difficulty pilot profession I chose. I just chose which ever was closest to my current location (Tatooine).

As for SS, I'm not an Imp. I know it's hard, though. That's meant for advanced players and/or groups. The level of difficulties of the different routes throughout the pilot professions are much like the difficulty skill settings on a regular FPS game. If what your doing now is too hard, then pick a different skill setting. Maybe the devs should put something in to allow difficulty switching at an xp cost (instead of being reset to 0, just lose x amount of xp or boxes, depending on the extreme of the switch).

So no, I haven't 'missed the point'.

you should plan your SWG time then, as in plan, plan out that everything else wont bug you.

put the kids to bed

tell the wife i'll be playing for a while

ignore the phone-probably just another telemarketer!

i have a wife, and children and im able to set time away to tend to my SWG life....all it takes is some planning, so dont ask for a pause feature in a live online game!
