Don't listen to some of these morons. The only thing they know how to do is come up with stupid insults. Any time anyone posts here, expect idiots to come up with put-downs, its all they ever learned.
Maybe a save or pause can't be done but check points or a way to go around having to re-do ridiculously long missions should be implemented.
And ask a stupid question, get the approriate response.
Yeah, acheck point, just save my life as it is right now, I'll pick it up when it's easier on me.
Or just let me cheat to the end, thats the fun way to play a game, I don't want to do all that hard stuff, it's........well.....hard!
I mean, when I make mistakes in real life, I don't want to learn from them, just move on.
Jeez, I love this place, it's more fun than actually playing the game. In the game I just get to kill stuff and build stuff and live in Star Wars land, here I get to listen to sorry people ask for stupid stuff and even more lame people tell them that it's a good idea!!!!

Too busy with her childs to go to skewl.
Anyways, just do one part, then park at a space station and alt-tab out until you're done with your real life stuff. What's the big deal, there are always breaks in between, and you don't NEED to logoff.

I do really thing they need to allow people to do missions in chunks rather than from start to finish in 1.5 hours.
They can't do a pause being a MMO game.
I do find this amusing though as in City of Heroes there are Task force missions that take 5-6 hours to do as a team and if anyone quits you can't invite more in so everyone has to be there for whole mission. I posted a complaint about that and most people said they didn't want shorter missions and that I was a noob for wanting them. lol
1.5 hours is not too bad in comparisson but since the missions are multi part couldn't they make it like 3 30 minute missions instead of 1?

Oh and one other thing, the plural of child is children. I can't stand it when people say childs, I feel dumb for reading it. Oh and babie is actually spelled baby.
I guess you might as well know that "loose" wasn't the word you were looking for either but you can figure that one out.

I second this as a dumb idea. The whole point of the game is the game goes on wether you are in it or not. Sorry chum, its just like r/l and there are no pause buttons nor should there be

SWG is the first MMORG game that I have played. So, sorry to say, I did experience 30 seconds of uber terror, when I deleted something and found that I could not load a saved game 
The game is real-time, and the decisions you make in the game are played out in real-time like real life. This means no pause, no save, no nothing. If you start a mission make sure you can complete it.

Maybe its time youclarify what you read Dawn. I said what I said because it is what it is.
The guy simply made a suggestion and instead of some people saying it can't or shouldn't be done, he gets creamed. This is not the way it's done. If you disagree and you'll always find people who disagree then do it but with class.
This isn't elementary school, even if it seems like it many times.
Why, you think I was referring to you? Well, did you say something you shouldn't of? Ok then. Ever heard ofa saying that goes like this, "If you scratch it's because it itches"'.

SOLO with PVE: First of all there is no such thing as solo hence the MMORPG genre. In space there are very limited instances where one of your targets is not attackable since it is mission critical. Otherwise you are never solo and anyone who wants to can destroy your targets whether you want them to or not. I guess the vette is instanced but to my knowledge thats the only thing that is SOLO PVE
Pause: Pause doesn't even work with the idea of a persistent galaxy. The whole point in the game is that it runs, ages and evolves even when you aren't there. There would be two options to add pause: 1) You hit pause to go to the bathroom and the entire glaaxy goes on pause. 2) The galaxy continues around you and you are the only one that stops doing anything. #1 won't work because you would be on a hitlist the second you paused the game and it would be used to grief us all into quitting the game. #2 won't do you any good because if the galaxy continues to happen around you, it's the same as just typing /afk or logging out.
Save: "Save" inherently includes "load". Neither of which happen at your own command. The game is constantly saving everytime you do anything. You "load" when you log in and constantly as you play. It's impossible to go back in time due to the type of game it is (unless there is a rollback but you can't control that either). If save was to be implementedit would be similar to #1 under pause, the entire server would have to go offline when you saved, and rollback everytime you loaded. Just wouldn't work.
Checkpoints: Mission checkpoints is the most possible of the things suggested so far. Unfortunatley they already hve mission checkpoints. Thats why you have a 1 hour mission you have to do in one sitting and its not a 3 month mission. The more checkpoints they add the more they have to database. They already have a database with all your characters stat, appearance, inventory, bank, houses, items in houses, ships, email, friends list, etc. This database also includes what missions you have done and how far along in them you are. They apparently decided what number of checkpoints they could handle in terms of space missions and broke them up accordingly so you only have the 1 hour long mission.

I think the bigger pointis that you dont understand what you don't need/understand. I seriously thought someone asking for pause/save was a joke. I know I had a very good laugh at it. It just doesn't work and won't work. I've heard "I want a pause button" fairly often said as a joke. You might not have known, and thats fine. Thats no reason, however, for you to half-ass flame people responding to your post.
What you can do about it: Not much you can do about it besides set aside a time when you can devote a full hour to a mission and finish it. If you just can't do that then you should go to the ground and work on a profession other than pilot. If you have your heart set on pilot and just can't get that hour in, you might want to look into a single player game. You have to prioritize what you want out of a game and then make sure that that fits your RL schedule. An MMORPG like SWG might not the best choice of games for you if you don't have time. They make a ton of Star Wars games and I hear they are all fairly good, maybe you should check one of those out.

What about all those NPC's flying around you when you are paused. Are thay just gong to stop in there tracks. I dont think so.
I know for a fact I have been attacked buy many NPC's while on missions. I love it and Pray thay never take it away. It adds so much realism to the game
Nice, you found a valid reason, you can exploit pause with PVE+Solo too, thx, and you found it without being unfriendly
