Thread: Is it worth it?

I'm assuming that you already have organic 4, and since you want to be a creature handler you'll be getting the scouting lines that you need anyway. So it probably won't hurt you to go ahead and start on bio-engineering. By the time you start to get the hang of it the new patch should be in and if it doesn't solve most of the BE problems you haven't wasted much time on it. Make sure to check back on the boards from time to time to see how things are developing. If nothing changes, then I would say that it probably isn't worth it. But if the new changes work like they're supposed to, then it could be a fun class to play. We just don't know yet.

Thanks for the great help guys. I talked to my guildmembers for some more advice and I'm going for it. I can always sell back the skill points ( I feel a bug coming on... ).

Thanks again

"My question is: is the bio-engineer profession worth it? Would you say that for all the time and effort you've put into the profession, do you like it and would you do it again?"

Only if you want to wait an unspecified amount of time (2 weeks? 1 month? 6 months?) for Sony to finish the very barest semblence of a profession. Currently as a Master BE you can make tailor tissues which don't work, chef tissues which only half work, clones which are incredibly inferior to wild tamables, and you can make pet stims / vitality packs....

wait for it...

My suggestion is find something else to play.... do Creature Handler and ignore the BE goal until they do even the smallest thing to make us 'work'.

Right now I am a novice armour smith with chitin and a novice talior with nothing. I think mabye i should of gotten tech 1 but anyways in the end is it even worth getting master armoursmith? I try and sell stuff but no one even wants it, prolly cuse i cant experiment for crap. I dont know what to do next, its a pain in the ass trying to get res with no money. once i do get money what do you guys sugest i do? like what item should i grind?

thx in advanced.

personally I grinded to master almost all the way on PSG components after finding that Masters has already soaked up a huge portion of the market.

Only need a few harvesters to do this, and you can make the money to upkeep the harvester by doing faction missions if you belong to a faction and have some fighting skills.

Don't know how a crafter (of anything that involves experimenting) with no comabt specs is supposed to hit master now days without grinding on components.

IMO the crafting system was at its best when there were no Masters. I could sell lots of armor the first coupe weeks.

Now I only have to log in every few days to make some PSG's and maybe a suit of Ubese.

I make more money doing faction missions to raise my rank, definately considering dropping crafting altogether because of the general ill health of the economy and unbelievable amounts of bugs.

Only thing that is stopping me is because im the only armorsmith in my PA, and I enjoy being able to make it for my friends who aren't idiots and realize the potential of armor. In fact right now it wouldnt bother me a bit if I did not sell another set.

Just jaded that it seems like every patch just makes the game worse as far as bugs go.

To think my friend that played Daoc with me is getting SWG tomorrow, I kinda want to tell him not to bother.

----

In short, I dont feel its worth it if you want to sell in volume (its gonna take a lot of trust and co-operation with merchants and others, not to mention resource hunting).

If you just want to make armor for a small bunch and dont mind not being the Big Name armor dude that by all means go for it.

To Grind on: Get harvesters on the materials, grind on components (didnt effect my business at all since the only orders I got were for Composite ... even though B. copper wasnt around for weeks at the time and I wasn't a Master ...)

If you cant afford harvesters than I dont know, you need money in some fashion because low grade armor probably wont sell well.

So to solve that you can try selling enough of the harvested resoruces for maintenance costs and grinding the rest.

I just made novice armorsmith. I am wondering if i should now move on or stick with it for a while. My concern is:

Color: will it always be tied to the tailor tech tree or do you think it was ment to go into the armorsmith tech tree. If i can not have all the colors available to mewill it still be worth hanging onto the trade. I am also a novice smuggler and wont be getting into the tailor end of things.

Thanks

Is the fact that an ARMORSMITHS color choices for armor being directly tied to his TAILORING (clothing customization) skill intended. I want to know before I give up hard earned skill points to move into the tailoring tree. If it intended I want to ask why you would do this but I can wait on that explanation for a later date. For now I just would just like to know if it is.

A) Yes it's intended. Become a tailor.
B) No it's not but it will take a while to fix. Become a tailor for a little while.
C) No it's not intended and we will fix it ASAP. In fact it's the next update. ((Armorsmiths rejoice))

It's definitely a bug. Unsure how long it will take to fix at this moment, but I'm asking.
