Thread: Is it worth it?
My main profession is smuggler. I have enough skill points left to gain some CM skills. However I would only be able to get support 1-4 crafting 1-2 and range 1-2 no speed. Is this amount of CM worth the trouble or will I not be able to do the big stuff that others with more skill point investments will be able to. Am I waisting my time and should just get pistoleer like every other smuggler or is the skills that i can afford to get worth having and would be effecient enough to be able to keep up enough to be viable? Any comments would be of great help.
To become a BH that is. I have the combat xp (which takes f'ing forever to get), but I'm wondering if you guys thinking I should go elsewhere or will it be worth it in the long run? I really like the idea of BH, but if it's going to be Nerfed all the time that could bea problem.
Go for it. I am a commando + carbineer, but I'm switching to pistol. Commando is a total joke and carbineer is decent but mobs usually get to me before I can kill them, so pistol will serve me better. Riflemen are awesome with the T21 but the weapon's rare and SOE keeps messing around with it so I have no idea what will happen there. Until the nerf bat comes around and hits pistoleers in the back of their heads, I'd say pistoleer looks mighty good. And if SOE really implements dual wield... Wow.
In a week or so, once the TC nerf goes live, there is no point going Pistoleer. Just get Novice Pistoleer and Intermediate Special Abilities and you can do everything a Master does.
If you really want to be good with a pistol, either get the Bounty Hunter Pistol line or the Smugger Dirty Fighting line. Otherwise pick another profession ... by the way, as a carbineer you're doing something wrong if you have a lot of trouble with mobs unless you're still a low-level marksman.
Just got enough xp.
Want to know if it is worth working for, or should a I just try for another combat profession?
If so, wat should I become?
At the moment I'm a doctor and novice marksman. I'm really tired of getting killed but if I want to keep Doctor and take up Combat Medic (which I did at one point
) I can't afford to take up Rifleman.
I've been contemplating and have decided that I'd kinda like to be a Creature Handler, but I'd still like to keep some of my medic skills on the side. So I've figured out the points and I'm thinking about going Master CH, Master Bio-Eng, Novice Rifleman, and Range Weap Support Specialist.
My question is: is the bio-engineer profession worth it? Would you say that for all the time and effort you've put into the profession, do you like it and would you do it again?
Any input from bio-engingeers would be amazingly appreciated (lol, my char is having a mid-life crisis :smileywink
[P.S. I don't want to start a new character on another server because I'd be missing all of my friends... that's the reason I don't just create another char
]
As the game stands right no, i think most would tell you "no" not worth it.. at least not in the sense of things working of yielding a benifit.
There issues to many to mention here.. browse around the boards for a bit and you'll find em
but to sum it up. Right now our creatures are very limmited in number, most bugged and rarely on par with thier wild counterparts. On top of that we cant use them ourselves (you mention getting killed) so being a bio eng wont add to you combat capabilities in any way.
The one light on the horizon is prommied changes from the devs that sounds like it could really breathe a lot of life and fun into the class and solve at least some of its issues.. but when and the actual details of these changes are still unkowns.
In shrt, people tend to take bio engineers, not because of, but in spite of ![]()
Well said Tenner ![]()
(Just remember that I'm gonna go for CH also. Can Bio-Engs not use their own pets if they are CH's also?? Or was that under the assumption that I wasn't going CH?)
Keep it coming as I read some of the other posts ![]()
Ah missed that one ![]()
Yes as a CH you can you Bio Engineered pets. (well those of them that are not bugged
). Still as the game stands you can get as good pets for free in the wilds, and have a much greater diversity to chose from. For example, im just short of Bio Eng master and Master CH, and i dont use any pets made by myself.. the wild ones are just better because we dont get to craft 'the best ones' out there
So again the alpha - Omega is what happens with these proposed changes.. if they are all we hope for them to be, BE could become a very fun class, offering, while not a lot of wealth (we still wont have any real potential market) at least the oppotunity to make and work with some truly unique creatures.
However if the proposed changes turns out to be more hot air and less substance.. BE's will rank as one of the lest worthwhile professions in the game along side other great names as Chef and Droid Engineer ![]()
