So it's an elite profession (we already gathered that). But we are still wondering if it's an Engineering offshoot or Master Artisan offshoot. I can't really think what other starting profession would lead to it...Brawler? Heh.
No, its not an elite profession. It doesn't offshoot from either. It is something new
I have a feeling you are going to make this more complicated than it needs to be. Shipwright Is an Obvious choice to be an elite profession that extends from the engineering line.It is gonna be very simular to Architect im assuming, requiring alot of resources and low sales (quantity wise) since you dont loose your ship and there will be no repeat buisness do to decay or lose. Maybe more like Droid Engie in that respect.
Are you making it a "new" type of novice profession just because its easier to code it that way? Tokeep non-JTL owners from accessingthe profession? I personally find this unappetizing. I agree that you shuld have to own the expansion to be a shipwright. but please dont clutter up the skill system with needless additions like this. the Force Sensitive and Jedi "professions" are already adding an unnecessary confusion to the system. adding yet another way to progress through the skill system is unwarranted.

My guess is it will take space xp to get the novice. Since the person building the ship should know how they work inside and out, it should require at least SOME piloting experience.
...but that's just my guess.
thats goofy. weaponsmiths dont have to have pistol xp to learn how to make a blaster. plus I doubt most artisan types will care much for twitch based combat. If this is indeed the way they are going, im sure it will be changed before it goes gold.

Interesting..
First off, thanks for answering some questions TH! It is awesome to see some new information given through this thread! I am honored ![]()
If the profession is a whole new concept, I wonder if other like it will follow? The question now remains how it will be implemented. Many have offered up the Politician as an example, however, he said it would be something completely new. I guess I will keep thinking about this. Good stuff TH!
Keep those answers comin' ![]()
Thanks again.

I'm imagining a scenario where... you've just taken your noob-ship up into orbit without a lick of piloting skill (yeah, good luck), something breaks (some generic breakage you could actually get to from the cockpit)... you then get a choice of trying to fix it yourself or calling for a tow. The brain in your cavernous Mon Calamari skull thinks, "Pssh, that's EASY!" as you start prying panels apart to get at the burned-out/faulty widget, thereby gaining you some space-widget experience to do with as you please.
They're talking about all the pilot skill progressions being story-based, why not the same thing for shipwright skills? It soundsa bit too "Choose Your Own Adventure"'ish at this point, but it sure beats practice-grinding space-widgets for a week straight. ![]()

191. How many side-effects are ships going to have? Things such as engine glare and sensor blind spots?
192. How many tactics - ie, small-scale strategies similar to kiting on the ground - will we be able to develop in space?
193. Are you working to make sure that we will have many things to take advantage of (in space)other then just our profession's skills and our ship's configuration?
194. Are you planning on merging servers?
195. Are you planning to stop adventure planets from being overpopulated/urbanized?
196. Where can we dig up the old polls on what newspecies we would like?
197. Are either of the newspecies non-mammalian?
198. How do you plan to revitalize the Galactic Civil War?
199. You aren't planning on giving the Jedi any advantages in space, are you?
200. Are you going to scale down the Jedi's powers to make other classes more competetive?
TH, plz ignore this person. A nerf is the last thing jedi need... expecially sense all of our playing time goes into leveling such (hint, fix us vs. melee professions)

PLEASE LET IT USE NORMAL SKILL POINTS, if you dont NO SW will get any bussiness.
Also if you cut down on skill points vs. the other crafting proffestions ALOT MORE POEPLE will pick and which will make the class pointless for any reall profit.
