"For your information, you REPUBLICAN @SS WIPE, according to this report (http://ftp.fcc.gov/jointconference/services_study-oct2002.pdf) the coverage rate for broadband OUTSIDE a metropolian areas is 48% within the United States."
Wow, you are a real loser.
First off, I am not republican, so thanks for assuming, but I'll just assume that I have a higher level of education and make more money than you.
Second, EVERYONE can get broadband if they want it, via satalite connection.
One of my homes is located outside the nearest town (population 20,000) by 8 miles, and I can still get satalite or wireless internet there.
Don't through outdated statistics at me, I work in the industy, and have a very good idea what I am talking about.
Vote Kerry 2004.

As several other people have stated in this thread, broadband is not accessable at all to some of us. I live in a rural area in georgia that dosn't have cable TV, muchless internet. And DSL is not even close to being an option. As far as satallite internet, I don't know why anyone would waste that much money on something so terrible. This patch is really going to suck, my dial up is bad by dial up standards, my connection speed on my best days dosn't get higher than 24.0 k/s, 56k + are just made up speeds to me. I backup my SWG folder very frequently because of this reason. I'm probably going to have to take my computer over to a friends house to ever get this patch, I don't think it's possible on my connection.
As far as why anyone would play SWG on dial up, it's acctually not that bad. I'd say 90% of the game is very playable on dial-up. I even PvP on occasion, but never anywhere near any large cities. Those are really the only problems with dial up and this game. Being a TKM/doc I don't really need to bother going into cities that much anyways.
This patch is rediculous though, there should be a cheap option for those of us who are unfortionate enough not to be on high speed internet. And from what I've heard, I don't know if JTL is worth spending the money on, especialy just to avoid a large download.

Umm your kidding right? You playing a high powered game such as SWG and have dial up? Ok I am not going to rip on this guys because I think we all know the answer to this one...
Erm some people live in places that don't have broadband.

Not all of us live where there are options other than dial up. Dial up where I live is 20 dollars a month, DSL is 60 dollars a month. This computer has both a modem and cable connections, however though I could get DSL for the extra money that means I'd have to stop laying SWG and thus would defeat the purpose.
Dial Up works pretty good.
E got logged really bad at the Battle of Bastogne shortly after she joined the Sentinels, Deuber dragged me to safety though.....
I have done much better in PvP with smaller numbers though.
Now for the orgininal poster...is the 2 hour limitation from your ISP or is it from somewheres else. If it is in the software on your puter that might could be bypassed....

You best be prepared for MANY large patches for JTL because the beta needs some serious work. If your not use to getting 100 meg download, then prepare for it now. I am guessing you are going to commonly see at least 50 meg downloads for the next month at least on a weekly basis. There is a lot of work to be done that I can promise you

Unfortunately high speed connections aren't available in all areas, so don't assume someone is a slack-jawed-yokel because they have 56k.Yes it sucks andmost of ushave forgottenwhat it's likedownloading at5-6KB a second.
As for DSL, SBC held the monopoly in my area (they got sued) and only was giving me a 40KB dowload speed for friggin' 60 bucks a month. I don't think it was ever that much better than dialup exccept in big cities, because I had to use dial up sometimes when those slackers at SBC kept losing my connection.
Hell, I live in Silicon Valley and Comcast just installed a network in my area, so even in a hub of technology we have some crappy service.
Good luck to you 56Kers on your downloads.

I know that JtL is bugged. It should never have been released yet in its buggy state. It is a marketing error.
Instead they should have delayed it til the end of November or early December. That way you could catch the busy Christmas shopping season. And you would also have time for folks to become unanamored with WoW and other games coming out thus enabling you to draw more people to the game.
By doing this they will drive more away. Who wants to buy a new game and then have to download for hours just to get it to work. That's craziness.....

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that JTL is only available to high-speed Internet users.
My source: the JTL Beta that can only be accessed through a high-speed connection. Am I correct to assume the October 27th expansion will be high-speed only?

Get with the times and get broadband instead of complaining. It isn't expensive, and if you play a MMPORPG it just doesn't make any sense to do it with a 56k.

Contrary to popular belief Broadband is not really accessible to everyone.
Dialup here costs 20 dollars a month
DSL costs 60 dollars a month
So yes I could get DSL but then I'd have no money to play SWG.
I'm certain others are in similar situations, or perhaps even live in areas that don't offer cable/dsl hookups.....
