Thread: Did Gamestop.com **EDIT** anyone else on the Pre-Order?

Well my husband and I don't order anything online, so we went down to our local EB Games store and pre-ordered on Oct. 22nd. I walked right in, grabbed 2 beta disks off the shelf and paid for my order. We installed the disks that night and picked up our games on the 27th (after they phoned us to let us know the shipment had arrived). We both have the speeder and all is good. As of Oct. 27th, there were still many beta disks on the shelf at the store, so I'd recommend with the other posters to go to your local shop and see if they have any left.

I've had no dealings with Gamespot as there is no stores of theirs remotely around me, but EB Games has always treated us good as far as pre-orders go. In fact, the only complaint my husband has about the pre-orders we got is the lack of the toy that was supposed to be available lol. Unfortunately, our EB Games never got a shipment of that extra lil bonus, so he's bummed (supposed to be a ship or flash speeder, I don't recall now. Yes, he's still a kid at heart and wanted it to sit on his monitor while he played lol). Other than that, always a pleasure doing business there.

They DID put that there were limited beta disks and it WAS first come first serve, you didn't pay extra for preordering, so quit your bitching.


There was a post in the forums and on every preorder site that I visited saying that it was from october 8th to october 25th, so if you order AFTER this time.. what makes you think you're going to get a beta disk?

I didnt order after this date i ordered withing that range easily i ordered on the 15th. SO I SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN A DISK gamestop had plenty of time.

Um, you were supposed to preorder BEFORE the 8th to get the disk.. some companies had extra so a lucky few go thtem if they ordered after. I myself ordered on september 9th, so I got everything I was supposed to get.

Anyone thats puts faith in gamestop is an Idiot. that is the worst place to buy your games from. all they care about is getting the pre-order money for upcoming games to secure you coming to them to buy it. they could care less is you get it on time. they know you paid for some of it and need to pay the rest sometime.

I had the same exact thing happen to me from gamestop.com. The advertisement from sony stated that you would recieve the pre-order bonus, if you pre-ordered now through one of the retailers. The link takes you to the order page. No fine print about while supplies last or cut off dates. The whole point of the pre-order advertisement was that if you pay up now, we will give you this bonus. Well, I pre-ordered, I paid up, and still have not received a bonus. I, as well as many of you, only pre-ordered for this bonus, why else would anyone pay extra for shipping when they could have just gone down to their local store and picked up a copy. SOE claims its the retailers responsibility. Even though the advertisement and link is on a SOE site, and is for a an SOE product. GameStop....well Ive sent them three emails and still have not even received a single response.Apparantly they do not think their customers are even worthy of a form letter. So apparantly this is a case of misleading if not false advertisement with both SOE and Gamestop pointing their fingers at each other.
I have talked to Sonys CSRs in live chat and sent emails. The response in live chat was...you guessed it, its not us its game stop. The response to the first email...same thing. The response to second email....umm well i guess soe does not respond to customer emails either...maybe there is a 1 complaint per customer clause in the monster of a game contract.
It really is not about the speeder, its the principle. A lot of people feel that they were lied to, and they were. And I am truly amazed that both GameStop and SOE would not simply resolve this matter. It will not cost them money..its just a series of numbers for a graphic in game. It would be such a simple matter to resolve and keep your customers happy.

I live in Germany. Pre-ordered JtL from GameStop on 9/27. Received JtL today (October 29), including the bonus (flash speeder). I think the copy could have gotten here a day earlier. It was marked as 'Usually ships within 24h' all of 10/26 and was then shipped on 10/27.

Not complaining though. If they would have hurried, I guess I could have had it on Thursday but USA to Germany within just two days of (official) release is stillcool.

Can only speak for myself but GameStop has been grade A reliable so far for me. I've even exchanged mails about my orders with them. Those mails were usually replied to within a matter of hours.

I've only made positive experiences with GameStop so far (have ordered not only JtL but also the original SWG CE, RtcW CE and Jedi Knight II CE from them)and would recommend their services to any of my friends.

Sorry to hear that GameStop hasn't been as reliablefor some of you. My only suggestion would be to refrain from massive usage of '???' or '!!!'. The people working at GameStop are adults. Mailing them with 'Where the **** is my copy of JtL???!!!!1111' probably won't achieve anything. Take it easy. Talk to them in a polite and reasonable manner and things should work out in your favor.

I would like to just retract my comments about soe's customer service. I just got out of live chat with an extremely helpful CSR, and have faith again in sony. As far as gamestop goes....well i think ill choose a different retailer next time. Mistakes happen, but its how companies react to these complaints. SOE was patient courteous and helpful in live chat. Gamestop simply ignored me and lost a customer. So thanks to the CSRs on live and /bonk to gamestop.

I had the same thing happen to me. I placed my order on the 20th about 7pm,but I ordered from EB Games. Thankfully, they got their poop together and I'll be getting my pre-order registration in a week or so.

I don't know how this got so F'ed up. If you don't get your Speeder I hope you at least get your money back because it is false advertisement. If it did say while supplies last though that will give them a reason to totally ignore anyone with this problem and if your a vet of this game, I know just how p*ssed off you'd be.


I'm sorry this happened to you and believe me, I'm already boycotting Gamespot. It wouldn't be the first time they've done something like this before.

Look I understand what the people are complaining about from both sides of the desk. I've been on both sides. But it does CLEARLY states on GameStops site that "Quantities Are Limited" Check ANY of the games on there that are coming soon that have a bonus offer & you will see it there stated in BLACK & WHITE or what ever color they are using at the time. But it's there people, you just need to read & order early next time, no matter who you order from, be it EB games, GameStop, BestBuy, etc. And if you get bad service, complain by all means, but do it in a civil manner...remember the person on the other end of the phone is just that.. a human being with feelings, not some mindless machine. Treat them with respect & you may find things will go easier for you & you'll more than likely get what you are asking for.

And no I don't work for GameStop if that's what you people are wondering. Just sick of people screaming "fraud" & "false advertising" because they didn't preorder in time.

Yea it did say while supplies last. However it didn't say that they were out of supplies when I finished my order. Not to mention my receipt says "Jump to Lightspeed, With Bonus Disk!"


A receipt stating exactly what I ordered, and when I recieved my Jump to Lightspeed... It was not what I ordered and it was not what my receipt says...


Sounds like fraud to me and I believe that if they are out of supplies then I hold them to responsiblity for either A. not changing their website to reflect that, or prompt me when my order was finished. Or B. contact me by phone or mail to let me know that my order has be altered.
