Foxtrot, with Master Artisan and Master Weaponsmith you have 110 skill points left... that is enough to master one of the six elite combat professions that doesn't require Master Brawler / Master Marksman. I don't know where your "6 left over" comes from but there's obviously something you omitted. And as far as needing Master Artisan, ever think of buying crates of Control Units or what have you from another Artisan? Make some deals and save yourself some skill points!

This is the entire key to limit to SP. If MMOs don't force ppl to be interactive then you may as well buy a static game.

As everyone keeps referring to, IRL, yes you can be a doctor an artist and blah blah but it take what 12 years of high school, 4 years of college then grad school.

So on yet that note, i guess it could work to have unlimted skill points, provided that each skill would take more and more xp to increase so that it would take a VERY VERY long time to become the uber being.

my point is that u get to your 3 4 4 4 bh, which leaves little left for anything else, i dont know wut else u have maybe novice medic. then what? start a new character so i can do all the same stuff over again? i have no intrest in being a weaponsmith, armorsmith, ect. its cool they just added the new badge missions on dantooine. theres one night of work. (and bugged by the way) so wut to do now? go kill stuff for xp i dont need? get better guns? to kill what i dont need xp, the best thing i would like to do is get into more medic skills or ch skillsor combat medis skills, i just want my character to get better, but my complaint is im platued, and it hapend fastbut u can do about it, cause there is no skill points left.

The main problem that I see is not with the skill points, but the time that it takes to master these professions and run out of skill points. Other MMORPGs it takes a long time to become one of the highest level players, here people can max out their professions and skill points in a couple of weeks. This is far too short-term is as far as I can see, is the reason many people have/are quitting. Once you master your chosen profession(s), there's really nowhere else to go, and the actual mastering happens far too quickly. There are just too few steps in profession strength with each step granting too much power. Take a Bounty Hunter for instance. It takes no more than two weeks to master marksman and scout. Then you work on pistol xp for one more week and you have Bounty Pistol Specialization IV. Now you are at the top level as far as skill with a pistol goes, in three weeks or less. Also, this trek towards this pistol skill only has 10 steps involved to increase power with a pistol: Novice Marksman, Pistols I-IV, Master Marksman, and Bounty Pistol Specialization I-IV. Each step itself does not take very long and grants 10% of the total pistol power of the character design, with the end result being a top level character with a pistol. Pistoleer may take a little longer, but not too much, since they don't have to work through the other weapons in Marksman and the skills in Scout at the same time. Regardless, the time required to master professions is far too short and the steps involved are far too few for a long-term game.

I heard somewhere that the 250 number is actually a percentage of the total skill points needed to master all professions in the game and that as new professions are added this number will increase?

Anyone know if this is true?

I hope you have found out the one true and simple fact about this and many other MMORPGs, GRINDING IS BORING!!!!! I can not grind for more than a few minutes without getting very bored. Whether I''m killing things, making things, or doing things (I slice), I get bored. So you know what I do? I interact. If you didn't have to interact, this game would have no reason behind having others around. You would be able to play it on singleplayer mode.

They made it so that you can't master every profession so you would have to deal with each other in more than in just PvP. Now you have to go to the entertainers to get Mind and BF healed, you have to go to the medics to get your Health and Action healed, you have to artisans to get new items. They did it because if you could get everything, the game would just be a big free for all.

The Devs have been very strict on the amount of skill points they will allow, and they said then may add 10 or 15 later on, when there are a few Elite-Elite professions (right now, only Urban Planner is supposed to come out).

If you are becoming bored with the game, please stop killing things (this makes up for 99% of those who are bored). Now, try a different profession. Trust me, I can change the whole game for you. If you dont like that idea, try roleplaying. Its called a roleplaying game for a reason. This may be hard for you who cannot think in anyother mindset other than KILLKILLKILL, but if you can get it working, it makes the game 100 times better. It allows you to have fun in player events, whether they be parties, contests, or even planned Faction events (very fun). Just try it, you'll like it

Once you master a primary profession can you surrender the novice of that same profession to recover skill points.

For example, I'm a master marksman, I click on my novice marksman box and it says "surrender this skill to recover XX points". It doesn't say I first have to give up the skills above it. If I did that would I loose my master marksman? Wouldn't I only loose the skils, certifications, and skill enhancements associated with novice marksman?

Nope to surender a lower skill you need to surender the higher one in the same professions.

You can't surender Pistol 1,2 & 3 if you have pistol 4. Pistol 4 would have to be surendered first.

You can't surender novice marksman if you have master. You will have to surender all marksman skills including master before you can surender novice.

Another thing. If you try to surender novice while you are master or any other lower skill when you have the higher you will get a pop up message telling you in can't be done unless you surender the higher ones.

OK, but If I move up to say smuggler or bounty hunter and start building on them I can drop marksman skills to free up skill points for advancement, if needed.

No you MUST keep ALL required prerequisite skills...which is the big drawback to BH, since you have to keep Master Scout and Master Marksman (doesn't leave much left over once u get to Master BH).

250 is plenty of skill points.

When I finally hit master of all my professions I will be a master pistoleer/TKA novice scout with explore 4 and a smuggler with dirty fighting 4 and slicing 4. If you want to have as many skills as possible you cant go wasting them on two completely different skills. The reason i'll be able to get all those skills is because pistoleer/Tka compliment smuggler and they have the same professions, and im wasting my extra skill points on mask scent and terrain negotiation. Its expected if you are a master crafter you can't go walking around hunting bounties as well. You have to pick and choose what you do wisely. If they added another 50 skill points then can you imagine how many people would complain about all the master commandos/smugglers walking around? Or all the master BH/CH? You can't just go around asking for more skill points so you can go around making your millions of credits crafting and at the same time soloing nightsisters.
