Thread: SKILL POINTS
Last friday i started a new human Character... first profession i chose was medic, figured id master medic and then be a TKA after... Yesterday i qualified for Master Medic but i only have 30 apprentice points!
did i just master it too quickly?
anyways, i think they should lower the amount of skill points needed to be a master, i know they are there so people teach other people the skills they need so they dont have to pay the trainers each time, but there has to be another way to do that
-thanks

it would be nice on some of the "deserted" planets to have apprentiship missions where you might have to do a quest to get say "50" apprentiship points or something.
I get tired of barking at every starport:
" Training all marksman skill and medic skills... bla bla bla PST "
along with the 50 other people running around doing the same ![]()
i know i need to train people to get apprenice points, the only profession i have done now is medic, i have found only one person that needed a medic skill. teaching people medic skills is different from teaching people marksman or scout skills, there is less demand
I have never seemed to have a problem getting my apprentice points. I now try to refuse anyone that wants training to let others get the apprentice points, but some people just dont bother training others until they are ready to become master. If you have the skill points to become master medic, i'm sure you spent a lot of your time in med centers. I can't believe there was never anyone in there that whole time who didnt need training.
Getting apprentice points are the easiest thing to get in my opinion. Just stop ignoring the shouts or those asking in cantinas/med centers when training is requested. I myself found it quite annoying that people wouldn't bother to train me. I've asked around in a cantina with four chars all with the title Apprentice Gunfighter for pistols 3, and was ignored.

i can see what you mean, but i didnt know that i would master it a few days, i did however teach a guildmate first aid 1 about 3 times. On my old char i had no problem getting apprentice points, actually, i maxed out apprentice points, 1230 or something. I always run to anyone shouting for skills, but being a medic, and a 1-3 unarmed, no one really needs these skills as much as other skills.

and i learnt master commando and ill get 1240 very soon
An elite-elite would be about even with a bounty hunter for skill points. You have to master 2 basic trees, and a hybred tree. They have to master 1 basic tree, i advanced/hybred tree, then the elite-elite tree. Still 3 professions.
I don't see how you can complain about sp's for a bounty hunter tho, your job is to find people and kill them. So do you need to know the capibilitys of most weapons they will use? Yes. Do you need to be able to run faster then they do? Yes.
If your going to hunt other "people" you have to be very good at what you do. BH's are very strong, and thats why they take so many skill points. Sure if you pick the most expensive class, your going to be lacking other skills. I myself stopped playing my 3-4-4-4 BH for 2 reasons. 1) it gets boring trading ether eyeshots or lightning single2 with 90% of the people you see. 2) Investigation is just so boring.
I think that the skill point system is fine, once a few tweaks happen. First, while in RL we aren't limited to particular professions or skills, we are limited by one factor not truly present in game - time. To become a Master bounty hunter in RL would rightfully take years with weapons and trackingskills - while in-game it takes weeks or, at most, months. As to the tweaks, IMHO,I would like to see slightly increased total skill points (275-300)with reduced novice skill requirements. In RL, I might become a Master doctor in little more than a decade, but there is no limit to my learning to fire a weapon, swing a sword, rock climb, dance, play an instrument, fix machinery, play with pets, etc. I may not do any of these things very well, but I could definitely qualify as a novice.
Just food for thought.
