Once again the MMORPG style of PVP is what you all are thinking about, there is no difference between PVE and PVP in JTLS. Frankly you see a guy, you shoot, if hes better then you (players own skill) you die, simple as that. There is no griefing, there should be no "Pwned!!!1one", he was just better then you. Where as in the RPG PVP its very pesronal, very frustrating, and is not a fun experience to many.
In a simulation it is much different, friendlier, and generally a better enviroment. If your fighting a computer or a pc in a simulation there really is no difference, where as in the ground game its frustrating.
Generally the point I'm trying to get accross is that you all have a false representation in your minds about what a pvp experience is, the ground game does not apply in space.

I Agree whole Heartedly with your statment, the way that SOE are doing it is the correct way, and its solves any griefing by other players such as Alliance members allways killing an Imperial on site, and then that players lossing more ship componants then he can actuly afford all the times and not making it worth while even flying in space any more, that was my bigest fear, and im glad my fears have been put to rest, or I hope they have, dont wish to constantly die jsut because a group of REbels see me and wow hes overt lets kill him, and then that process gose on 6-10 times aday, now thats costly on the ships eqipment, let alone the players nurves.

the bad side effects i see for PVEer's depends on where the PVP zones in space will be. if they are around a certain planet, say dathomir, the PVE pilots will have to shuttle in instead of flying there.. so that they dont have to worry about getting killed by other players. but that i can live with. its not a big deal
like you and i have said, seeing NPC's of your faction getting shot down by a covert player will bug me a tiny bit, but it doesnt make me want to attack that player. ill ignore it seeing as though ill have lots of other things to worry about.
i get the problem with groups of coverts flying ties and xwings together. that wouldkind of stinkto see that. but again its something i could ignore. i also dont think it will happen as often as you guys think. if a covert player is rebel in the ground game. chances are hell group with his guild which are probably all rebs and theyll all fly the reb ships, and vice versa..
its just what well have to deal with though. SOE can never make all the players happy at once.
unless they make all PVP servers sometime down the line, which personally i dont think they will.

I agree that PvP and PvE needs to be seperate, not everyone wants the same thing.
My problem are that neutral players will be allowed to fly faction space ships, meaning that it will be ok to be neutral and fly around in a TIE-fighter or X-wing. Thisdont make any sense at all.
The devs have said that they want to increase the Star Wars feeling in the game, this is a step in the opposite direction!!!!
The star wars feeling will only get worse if I see a group of neutrals piloting TIE-fighters and X-wings!
Other way around is fine with me since it is possible to have a modified "civilian" ship and still work for a faction.
I dont care about the PvP aspect, sure its fun but not the most important aspect of the game
What I do care about is to get the genuine feeling when I am flying around. Seeing neutral faction space ships will not achieve this....
One of the ways that you can think of this is that the nuetrals are only recruited for being a pilot, while not being a trooper on the ground (thus being nuetral on the ground, and faction alliagned in space). Also I do not think that you will not be able to tell if a nuetral is flying a ship.

i know that PVP is not the same as the ground game in JTL.
but for example if you only have one ship and its a faction craft... and all you want to do is fly from one planet to another, or take in the sights, or when they add more thingsto do in space than just combat, say you are doing a harvesting mission in space..also along the line what happens when i Noob playerbuys JTL and has a crappy faction ship and isnt good at flight sims.. then POOF every time you go into space you get attacked and shot down. most people dont want that to happen.

i dont know what else to say to you wedge.
but just realize that people play different ways and thats good. but when people are forced into a play style they dont want, theyll leave the game
Personally. i was going to fly the neutral ships anyway so i wouldnt have to deal with PVP, and i still will. but i have alot of PVE friends that want the faction ships. imps and rebs but were bummed that they wouldnt be able to. now im glad that theyll get what they want
and seriously. what's wrong with PVPer's fighting only against PVPer's?that will be there. PVP wont be gone.

Does the United States let civilans fly F-16s? Hell no. Does ANY nation let people who aren't committed enough to join the armed services use their military hardware? Hell no.

No PVP wont be gone, but the war certainly will be. "Hey look a rebels attacking all those ties!" "Sorry mate, can't touch him. He's covert after all."

i know you guys wont listen to me,. and im trying to be as civil as possible,
here it is again...
PVP whether it is different in flight sims or not.. is the MINORITY of players on this game.
PVP whether it is ok or not. still carries a stigma that keeps people away from it.
i dont believe SOE will only cater to the PVP players when most folks just dont want to do it.
these are the FACTS people. (except for the third, taht is opinion:smileytongue
