Thread: Missions are too long and difficult. Most get frustrated and give up.

Nor can they ever be bothered to provide assistance to a fellow pilot who needs help on a mission. What else do they have to do that's so important? And why did they go through all the effort to become Aces if they had no interest in being a pilot?

Good question. Helping other pilots on missions is my post-ACE content, I love to help.... not to mention that I love flying....

Ive always ha the best ships and gear i could buy or loot.I find though, that many people not only cant afford all the best stuff, but its hard to find a large enough group to help out. Im still helping people out, in hopes ill meet a big enough group of my level to help me finish my tier 4 with ease.Running missions with tier 3. Most the time we end up ona 3rd phase of a mission. That spawns in a tier 4 agro group, with constant waves of tier 3/4 fighters coming in. We barely get enough time to kill 1 wave before another comes. While this isnt usually a problem for me. It is for the last 4-5 people Ive helped.Ive seen people give up and go tofrerelance because its apparently easier. It simply isnt fun for these people to repeat a mission that has 3-4 phases, spawns inside a high level agro and has every ship agro the one person. It especially isnt fun for the people trying to help. Who may have done that mission 10x already with other people. To watch the group leader get killed because he cant afford a good ship and every mob agros him first. Then have the respawn rate too high that they spawn again before the last one is even destroyed, while having constant waves of mission fighters swarm in.Some balancing needs to be done with the Imp missions, and maybe others. To make it more fun for the average joe who isnt a hardcore space fan and isnt rich.
I agree. This explains all the Ace pilots running around.
Do you deserve to graduate from college just because you pay tuiton? You pay to have access to the content not to be guaranteed to beat it. Please stop trying to make the game easy for the lowest end of the bell curve because what happens to the mid and upper end then?

Thats just some gripes, the point is until you elitist people pay 24$ bucks for everyone to have JtL and 15$ a month EVERYONE deserves to be able to get ace pilot not be gated bythose insanemissions. Until then you elitiest people cant say crap about who deserves ace or not. Elite Aces arent the majority, so i wouldnt get to high on those horses, enough people complain JtL WILL be fixed.

JTL really isn't so tough - you can learn to solo just aobut everything if you think about what you are doing and that is even without the best gear.
And if you find it tough you can take along a load of friends to help you out, problem solved.
I agree, I solo'd all the imp pilot missions (dont remember what squadron) except one tier 4that friends helpedme with. I have completed rebel ace with my jedi toon and am know doing the freelance with my alt. I deffinatly agree that some more creative missions need to be added.
I like to think of it this way,
There are smart pilots and there are dead pilots.
Good equipment can only take you so far, then there's the "X" factor.
I don't consider myself elite, but I can solo a Corvette/ISD/GB about 98% of the time. It's trial and error.
I've been playing flight sims and even console flight simgames for years and I have an understanding of how the ships move and what they are capable of. I use line of sight, ship inertia, and good ol' manuvering to take my marks. Like flying jet fighters in real life (I do), it takes patience, knowledge of your craft, timing, and a little luck.
There IS skill involved, make no mistake, but it can be learned and applied.

I finally finished the Vaksai quest last night, after being blown up about 6 times along the way.
First time, I tried to take on the corvette like a normal ship... BOOM.
After a few tries I figured out how to get right behind the corvette and take out just the shields and engine... then the gunboats arrived. BOOM.
I didn't think I would be able to do it solo at that point, but I went back and tried again. Unfortunately I didn't get in quite the right position and as soon as I fired on the corvette, it turned, dove and brought all weapons to bear. BOOM.
But I didn't come to the forum and whine about how tough the mission is. I repaired my ship (yet again) and went back out there. This time, I was more careful. I let the corvette engage the gunboats while I took on the fighters. Wandered a bit too close to one of the gunboats and got mauled - but we were close enough to the station that I could limp back there, repair and get back in the fray. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.
As a constant reminder that hard work, careful planning and a "never give up" attitude pay off, I have named my new ship "Persistence".

I'm a 4333 Rebel Aligned Freelancer. While I agree that it should be challenging, there has to be a limit. It's NOT just challenging at the moment. It's bloody impossible at times. You should NEVER be REQUIRED to group in space to be able to finish a mission.... It SHOULD be hard, but not impossible solo.
The only time there are that many mission spawns at once, is if you're not doing your mission correctly. If you're given a mission to deliver something, don't stop to eliminate everything that comes at you, the error lies in your misinterpretation of the goal, not the design of the system.

BTW, I now have the good equipment that is mentioned by another potser. I can take out just about ANY ship in the Galaxy alone, but not 30 of them. All at once.
