I must be missing something, I soloed all of my Tier4 Inquisition missions in under 20 minutes. I thought they were the easiest of all the tiers.

Tier4 II was just "Patrol the waypoints" in Dath space... with a YT1300 at the last wp. What do you guys in Storm have to DO??

You flew the patrol too fast so you "skipped" all the missions and did not get any of the T4 rewards (see sig). Just the best shield and level 7 gun in the game. When you fly slower and do the actual missions it is a lot harder, but still the easiest imp squadron.

For those who still need to to Inquisition T4, don't fly the patrol faster then 500.

See I think that the real problem is that not everyone has a guild or lots of friends to help them out. MY situation is that I work REALLY odd graveyard shift hours. 12 hour shifts...3-6 days a week. I rarely find people online during the times that I can play at o'dark thirty in the morning. Let alone be able to schedual some sort of meeting time becuase I never know when I'll be able to play. I would love to be part of a guild on Flurry but just finding one is a pain in the arse. I think what a lot of us are upset about not only in the space game but also in the ground game is that they have made solo'ing almost non-existant for many of us. In every other game I have played while you may have to grind a few levels till you are strong enough to solo something it could eventually get through the mission or quest. SWG you can't really do that..especially if your a gamer who only gets to play occasionally.

I think that it is not as hard as you make it out to find other pilots. I play bizarre hours as well, mostly because I'm just not that hardcore. I always see other pilots running around with tags up, especially in crowded places like Coronet or Theed. When I log in, it's not uncommon to get a tell or two from people who know me as a pilot and want to fly one of their missions, people I've just met along the way. And when I need help with something in the ground game, most of them are quick to help me. They aren't always on when I need them, and aren't at my beck and call, but a little patience and I can usually find what I need.

Maybe the path to pilot is better broken down this way -

- Solo the missions, as many have done

-If you don't have the skill to solo, be certain to make friends along the way, as many have done

Ultimately, like it or not, it is an MMO, and if you don't have the skill to solo you're going to need to make friends.

I have to agree with several people here. While the 'ACE' may not be for everyone, that doesn't mean the rest of the process has to be completely impossible and boring. One of the things I felt was missing was the fleet engagement. I guess I played too much of every other Star Wars flight game and watched the movies. I sorely missed being an Imperial and actually having Imperials back me up. Especially when 5-6 Rebel craft hyper in on an 'extremely' important escort. Either way, I just felt it would be better to be in a spot where there are other fighters, and a capital with a shuttle. It's tough most of the time to get a group, and trying to solo when any three npcs can gang up on you get's a little annoying after a while.

I have to agree that the Storm Squadron missions are just too darn long. Not too difficult (as I love the challenge) but too long.

I recently completed my RSF Exit mission and was able to solo it after a few failed attempts. It was tough, a crapload of fighters/bombers and two gunboats. The nice thing about it though is that it was quick. Had to take on a big swarm of Tier 4s, then on to the Gunboat spawn and I was done. Took maybe20 minutes total to solo (if that).

Compare this to the Storm Squadron exit mission. The last spawn on this mission is essentially the same (crapload of fighters/bombers and 2 gunboats) but it comes at the end of a45-60 minutelong escort mission. I tried this with a buddy, who died since he figured the bombers woudn't all fire missiles on him at once (oops) and we failed the mission as a result. He then logged, not wanting to trudge through another boring hour of escort duty just to try again.

So we have two missions of essentially the same difficulty, one lasting 20 minutes from start to finish, the other taking 2 to 3 times as long just to get to the final spawn.

That said, don't touch the difficulty level on JTL. If anything it needs to be even harder. Here are a few hints for those of you having problems.

1.) No ship in JTL is a tank. None of them. Even the Y-Wing will go down in a slugfest with a gunboat. Use hit-and-run and strafing tactics, and you can solo anything. Remember when turning to vary your speed. Every ship has a sweet spot, and full throttle isn't it. Also, you are given a Boster for a reason, use it in combat after strafing runs to get away from the enemy and set up your next pass.

2.) USE DROID COMMANDS!!

3.) Grinding xp is super easy on duty missions, so when doing "Story Missions" solo, only disable enemy fighters. Disabling is faster than destroying, thus reducing the number of enemy fighters quicker, and they will blow up on their own eventually. Sure you lose out on some xp, but it's much easier to grind it out later and finish your mission. Actually finishing is more important than a few thousand xp.

4.) USE DROID COMMANDS!!

5.) Remember that if a mission is yours, everything will aggro you, not your wingmates, at first. So if you are taking a lot of initial hits to the front, turn around and take some from behind. Having low shields front to back is better than none in front with armor damage and a full shield in back. If your wingmates are good this is an easy way to "tank" temporarily and let them clean up.

6.) USE DROID COMMANDS!!

7.) Transponder Scramble is a very underrated ability. Use it often (if you have it) to knock out Inspect/Dock objectives and to break from the action to get repairs. You can always leave a mission site to repair and come back as long as you do not leave the system (unless it is an escort mission).

8.) USE DROID COMMANDS!!

9.) Always check your looted parts and compare them with what you have equipped before you sell. Having a competent ship in JTL requires very little money despite what many people have said in this thread, I only started to buy SW parts when I got my JSF, used nothing but loot up until then and it worked out just fine.

10.) USE DROID COMMANDS!!

11.)Just because a component is higher in level, doesn't necessarily mean it is better. I don't use anything higher than lvl 7 on my ships, and the onlt lvl 7 parts are my guns.

12.) USE DROID COMMANDS!! Seriously, every time I see people struggling with missions or complaining that JTL is too hard they are usually people who do not even have a Droid/Flight Computer equipped. It is worth it just for Cap-Shield shunt (a Shield Heal if you will). Once you start using them you will wonder how you ever flew without them.

That's all I can think of for now. Anyway, the missions are too easy the way they are. Don't make them easier, but shorter would be very, very nice.

Post in detail about what squad you're in and what mission you're on in the Pilot forum. People beat this every day, I doubt there's a problem you have that cannot be solved.

This is my impression of the Storm Squadron command during a single tier 4 mission:

"Here you go dude: First step, escort this ship for 30 minutes"
"Step two, disable this transport and then escort it for 30 minutes"
"Next step: Um, escort this shuttle for 45 minutes"
"Fourth step: Oh yeah, dude, this ship needs to be escorted for 45 minutes. Do it".
"Step five, oh heck, here is a few Novas and/or gunboats. Kill them".

You could consider moving to Eclipse or the european servers. Your odd hours are normal hours for us europeans. (eclipse having been the unofficial europe server at launch)

It took me a few days to get past all the tier 4 storm squadronmissions.

JTL does not really require skill just people to help you on the missions for many just 2 extra pilots will make the differance.

If you can scrape 3-4 even better as they can keep the argos at bay from the mission Taker...

Though I do belive most Tier 3-4 missions should allow a 1/2 point to be reached where people can start from rather then having to do the whole thing from scratch.

A couple of Ace pilots can take a new player very quickly all the way to ace no skill needed.

Even went so far as to put a very non skilled player in the back of a avenger and run the mission for him.

where there is a will there is a way.

The problem is the mission is bugged. I have read on the forums that people have been able to complete. I've completed leg one, receive congrats that leg one is completed, wait for new target and then receive message that leg one failed. CSRs tell me that it's a know issue. WT??? I've watched people on my server, Chilastra, complete the same mission leg and proceed to the next leg. It's broke for me. That's the problem.

Specifically, it's the Hidden Daggers executioner X wing and the 4 a wing escorts, all tier 5. Yes, it's tough and I don't mind that. It's supposed to be tough, just not bugged.

True, challenge is a good way to keep people playing, but, they need to fix the bugs in a timely fashion. Challenge should be from game content, not from basic programming bugs, lack of quality control and industry standard testing.
