Remember tier 3 and tier 4 almost REQUIRE you to be grouped so make new friends and utilize some old ones.

Help people in the beginning so they will help you later.

Oh one more thing, if you are tier 1 or tier 2 and you see a tier 5 don't mess with it, it won't be pretty.

When you start as Rebel Pilot on Naboo (for the Die Hards ) get an player made Z95 chassis and put good looted parts on it, like good armour and a good shield (and maybe even an Turbo Engine)!! As you will deffinitely get blasted away with a startershipon the last 2 Tier1 missions!!

Don't forget to repair before landing!

I found that getting out of cockpit mode (into third person?) and watching your ship from behind is much easier to fly around and fight in. When in the cockpit, my sa is lousy and when I get into 3rd person view, it's...um...well less lousy. But that's because I'm kinda bad at piloting.

Anyway, I can see the battlefield much better when I don't have all that cockpit clutter around me. It's very cool eye candy, but I can't fight with it on for anything.

Oh, and another top tip - always bring your towel!

DON'T PANIC!!

And yes, always bring a towel so everyone thinks your a clean stand up guy / gall.

Thanks for all the good advice everyone, most of it has helped alot...except the starting in Naboo thing....Ooops.

Throttle control is essential; if you want to turn fast, you gotta slow down a bit.

The game is best played with a joystick.

Don't waste money getting the freebie ship repaired, just destroyit and get issued a new one.

Space does not pay enough to be able to buy and outfit aship, so you will still need other means to make money.

Two Words: Duty Missions

  • Flexible - play as long as you like or a little as you like

  • Best shot (pardon the pun) for loot components, which can often be very good

Two More Words: Have Fun!

Other stuff:

  • Learn chassis mass/component mass constraints early

  • Don't buy from Shipwrights who gouge prices. We already have at least one on Flurry charging 15cpu per item

  • A Joystick is not an absolute necessity. I made Master Rebel Pilot by using nothing but the mouse and keyboard.

    • That said, if you like joysticks/gamepads/etc. by all means go for it. Use what you are most comfortable with.

  • Don't hassle folks doing non-PvP missions by shooting at them while they are doing their thing.Ran into a couple of those tonight as well.

Three Words: Enjoy The Ride!

You DO NOT know how droids and DE works, dont think you do or you will find yourself very confused when it comes to droids

Seriously, it seems that way even with non new players.

Just because it holds more toys, doesn't make it a better toy box....

The more mass, the less you'll be able to move. Y-Wings fly like dead pigs....

A joystick and perhaps a throttle are a great help. Mouse controls arevery unwieldy and imprecise for any ship, even after rearranging the sensitivty and dead zone.

I disagree. It's the human factors, that are different. I have killed many people in pvp who used joysticks, they send me a tell whatjoysick are you useing,>I said,"mouse and keyboard. They both get the job done.

They thought I was jokeing.

It also depends on what engine you use. I looted a nice Mon cal sublight engine and My y-wing could outmanuverTie-advanced's opressors.,in pvp. Also I could outmanuver any npc.

-Great advice in some of the posts so far, and the keyboard/mouse does work nicely, if you get useto it.Any thing you decide to use: Joystick or Key/Mouse.... program it, learn capabilities & limitations, and practice, practice, practice...

-I made a mistake of loosing my engine in the trainer (when I first started playing) and being stuck on the ground. I think itwas a blessing in disguise. I was forced to learn how to make/use a real ship and I then had sheilds for the first time. (I do love shields!) But it let me know the "workings" of ships.

-Lastly for my post, the "T" key is for the enemy ships.

P.S. - Please getthe ships working on the land maps. I really would like to 'carpet bomb' the Tusken Fort while my co-piolet (and friend) uses the guns to "clean-up" the fleeing Tusken Raider Warlords.... *DREAM !!!*
