One question. Say if Iwant to RE level 9 engine, do I need nine level 9 engines of the exact same name or just any engine that's level 9?
Any level 9 engine, 9 of them.

Could someone please post the percentage benefits for each level?
I know RE1 is 1%, and RE10 is 6% - I'm just hazy on the in-betweens. RE benefit for RE10 is NOT 10%.

Lvl 1 is 1%
Lvl 2-3 is 2%
Lvl 4-5 is 3%
Lvl 6-7 is 4%
Lvl 8-9 is 5%
Lvl 10 is 6%
Plus, the other posters forgot to mention that RE is the way u find the data pieces to make the Firespray(8 total) 7 they com out ramdomly & very infrequently.

Yep. Every number listed on a component is a 'stat'.

I tryed RE for the first time today, and I used two lvl 2 engines (as Im a noob SW)
stats on the engins: engine one: 1411 power usage, 1482 mass, the rol, pitch speed etc was 57 58,8 58,1 51,9. on the other the stats was 1541,5 1520,5 55,1 60,4 58,0 54,2.
Now, if I have understood things right, the HIGHESt of each number should count, but what I got was a midle of the stats on each, plus the extra 2%. I know that, cuz I was a bit in doubt on the forehand, so I wrote the beginer stats down, and checked against the RE report.
So, Did they change the rules? And if so, why havent they updated the info on it?

Not necessarily the hightest stats plus a bonus, rather the most favorable stats plus a bonus. There are stats that are most favorable when lowere, i.e. mass. At least that is my understanding. However, I've got to add that my knowledge comes from this thread and not from practicle experience. I'm still saving up my parts for my first re.

What I ment was that the end result was a medium walue + the bonus, like from the weight it was (1411+1541)/2 minus the 2% bonus.
I can see why this is applied, as the described system seems a bit too powerfull, espesially whith the shield "cheat" described earlier.
I just find it odd that all the info I find on REing is based on the "old" system.

I just read true the resent updates, and the newest I found regarding REing was:
I find this wery strange, as all the info points in an diferent direction than my experience.
My only solution this far is thet my two engines was the same making, ie the same name. Maybe if I used two engines whith diferent names, maybe?

Well, just for grins and giggles (and because they where Kuat parts, more common to produce schem fragments) I RE'd a set of level 8 reactors, one of them with 0 (zero) generation rate (yes zero, I've seen 2 of 'em!) and they didn't seem to effect the resultant generation rate at all! No fragments though.
You can make some REALLY choice capacitors by RE'ing stuff, but make sure you select your parts carefully because I did a set of level 10 caps and forgot I had a 52 rate cap on my YT-1300 that I could have used!
Level 1 parts I RE then sell to the chassis dealer.

Do you get more for selling RE parts?

No, you still get 1000 credits per level, but I think the level 10 are bugged because they show up selling for 500. Never sold a level 10 so I don't know if it's 500 or just displayed as 500. The reason why I sell the level 1's is to make room for the higher level stuff,I've assumed the role of PA Shipwright (the one we had got deleted in a shared account snafu) so I have been tasked with maintaining a stock of RE'd parts that PA members can choose from while working their way through the profession. Several of the members contribute parts to RE so I've gotten some nice stuff to RE. Another good reason to join a PA for all you out there that refuse to participate in PA's.

Sorry for this bump, but I have a question...
Do all RE parts have to be of the same level? like only level 2 and 2
or
Can I use a level 3 engine with a say.... level 6 engine to get better stats?

At the bottom of the parts stats, there is a stat "Reverse Engineering Level: X"
It requires specifically X # of The Same X Parts.
So 3 RE lvl 3 Reactors.
4 RE lvl 4 Blasters.
Et cetera on down the line...
The result is One item (the originals are all destroyed) ejecting from the tool.
IF you get a part without the Reverse Engineering Level stat, it has already been done and cannot be used in another RE process.
