To my knowledge, the only way to get this ship is as a veteran (like you can't get goggles with getting the special edition).

Its still lame that you only reward people that have a consistent subscription. I don't see why taking a 2 week break from the game should take away my veteran status.

Oh yeah you should really check on that one.

Not quite accurate representation of the situation in JTL however.

Remember, you still will have to fly to the Hyperspace point to change sectors, and then get to the land point on the planet itself.

Actually that's not true. The devs have already mentioned in one of the fansite FAQs and interviews that you will be able to go to a starport, and use your ship to instantly travel between planets without loading up into space. My guess is that the reason for this is because of how the shuttle system works as of now. It would be longer and actually a penalty to use a personal ship for travel when you have to go through 3, 4, or even more loading screens to get to your destination when someone using a public transport (assuming they got lucky and didn't have to wait the whole 9 minutes) could instantly load onto the new planet when the shuttle arrived with one loading screen.

I don't neccesarily like it this way, but that's just the way it is for now. When you go to a starport and own a personal ship you can either choose to instantly travel to your destination with one loading screen (like a public shuttle with no wait) or you can choose to load into space and fly there manually.

Hmm interesting. I'll take back what I said then. But will still reserve my opinion on the matter until it's "validated" in a beta state/stage or the like.

Ok, now that we have the gamecards figured.

WHAT about those who had 6 months + of consecutive subscription, let it slip for a little time then reactivated. Since they did play for 6 months and are currently playing in all sense of the rules they should qualify. Not saying anything, but as a elder member who was in beta, I would be a little miffed if I didnt get something that some guy who signed up 3 months ago got. Im sure many share my view on this.

Ditto on that. I've come and gone over the past year for various reasons, but played for several months.

Well here is a wierd situation for you...

I've been playing since about 1-2 weeks after release. I'm still not uber or anything after all that time, since I'm a casual player.

Well, anyway, about a month ago I cancelled my account, thinking I found greener pasteurs in City of Heroes. Finding how dead wrong I was, and genuinally missing SWG, I reinstated my account only a short while later, before my current account had actually even run out.

So, my question is will a player who has consciencely cancelled his account, only to renew that account before it had even truely expired, still be considered a "veteran?"

Thanx alot in advance ^_^

PS - I assume that this veteran reward is only 1 per account, so will we have a way of deciding which character it goes to, or it will it simply default to the oldest character?

a laps in account would be considered time that you would not have been able to log in due to the billing running out. Canceling your account, but still being able to play, then reactivating it before it closed should be ok as Q-3P0 posted earlier.

I disagree that players who have been around for a year should get something extra..... there are those of us who have been playing as long it has been possible - i.e since November 1st when the game was launched in Europe.... I was one of the players who had to wait 3 - 4 months between the end of Beta and the official release before I could play the game - why should I miss out on something?

This is not a rant, just an opinion.

First of all, I love SWG. I like many others think that things seem a bit rushed on the development side, which has been apparent from beta and every "patch day" since release.

When the announcement was made that "veterans" would get some type of special rewards, the community rejoiced. Great, something special for those of us who have stuck by SWG's side since early on may be paying off with something more than the satisfaction of playing the game. What could these rewards be? New items we could wear? A new special weapon? At the least maybe something that would allow us to be recognized by other players in game as one of these wiley veterans.

Boy was I wrong.

Now....the spaceship does look nice. Let's look at the word "reward" first before I go on.

re·ward
n. Something given or received in recompense for worthy behavior or in retribution for evil acts.

  1. Money offered or given for some special service, such as the return of a lost article or the capture of a criminal.

  2. A satisfying return or result; profit.

  3. Psychology. The return for performance of a desired behavior; positive reinforcement.

I think that of any of the above definitions, #3 fits the best....positive reinforcement. Here we have a reward that we cannot use unless we continue to subscribe for another two to four months when Jump To Lightspeed is released. And when the day comes, we trusty veterans will have to go out and spend roughly $50 US on the expansion pack to even get a glimpse of the elusive dangling carrot.

Now, this is just the way I see it. Again, I think the devs and QA are doing a great job. I personally have spent countless hours and days on TC2 helping QA (Vina, Devifi, etc) in the dark enclave. I want to do everything I can to make the game better. As I said before, I love SWG. Maybe I care too much, which is why I feel the way I do about the Veteran Rewards.

On that note I'll end this.

Nice work on reward, but please, rename it.

Is person playing 3+5 months with a break inbetweenless veteran than the one who started just 6 month ago? Definitely not. But... Is that person less loyal? Possibly.

Callit a"loyal playerreward" or something like that.

When a game developer applies for ajob, is his/her experience judged by consecutive workon one game? Does it not accumulate from different games/jobs?

That's a very valid point to consider. Anything considered veteran has to start no earlier than the european release. Anything else just wouldn't be fair.

you wouldn't miss out on anything. You'd just recieve your reward once you hit 1yr status (according to the logic that he said players will recieve this ship once they get to vet status). This is really mostly a moot argument since it's highly unlikely that they'll add anything for this release. A staggered reward system is something they said they'd do at a later time. For now we all get our sorosub though (and stoked about it).

This is what I just don't get. Why are people so upset about having to spend X amount of $ on an expansion in order to get a reward? Do we really have that many people who have been playing the game for that long who -won't- be getting the expansion?

Time to add my 2 creds worth.

I was lucky and able to get in the last couple weeks of Beta 3, and was even luckier that I was able to get my game and get logged in on the 26th of June when it went live.

After a few months I was a little frustrated with the game, all the broken quests and such, and I left for a little while, to wait until mounts and vehicles were added.

I was drawn back when they offered the 2 free weeks back in february and luckily, my character was still in the database. Since then, with the exception of a couple weeks where I'd have to wait for my next paycheck to hit my bank. Does that mean that since I've had to wait at least 7 days to restart, that my veteran status is gone?

All told, I've been in game for nine months. I love the ship, I thinkit'll be a good thing to have those that have played for a long time. I just wish that they didn't penalize those of us that had to leave for longer than a couple of days.

I hope they reconsider and give the vet gift based on total subscribe time and not consecutive time. If they did it that way, I wouldn't even mind if they made the time factor longer, say 10+ months
