Thread: Jump to Lightspeed thread
I tried to go with a group to do the corvette and everyone went onto the ship but me. I ended up in space not able to get unstuck. Left ingame tickets but no answer. never really had anything like this happen before so I dont know how to go about getting help. any ideas?
I'm not sure if anyone has asked this... but are new planets being introduced in the Expansion as well? I saw something about new species and new professions, but nothing about planets.
Anyword on that?

Posting in a relevant thread would be a good start.
I can't wait!
I have a question for TH or Dev's
It says :
"Starfighters and other starships will be featured in the expansion that can be used for both space exploration and combat, allowing players to join up with allies and fly familiar X-wings and TIE fighters into battle against faction-aligned opponents and AI-controlled ships. Transport ships similar to the well-known Millennium Falcon will also be added into the game, allowing players to venture through space with friends aboard . "
Will we see mulitple players on Landspeeder? (They do have two seats)
Well Q, 18 pages already so I don't know if you will see this question but I will ask anyway. ![]()
Will it be possible for Bounty Hunters to hunt our marks in space instead of just planets as we currently do now?
All the best.

"i would hope that the firefly class ship is not included in here, besides possibly being a rare npc ship. for those that dont know, this is the class of ship that slave one is (Fett's ship), and are very rare in the SW universe."
Firespray actually.
and it's a little more common than many think (i cant stop the geek inside me! help!), it's original purpose was as a sytem patrol craft for private corporations and such. The Fett's ship is modified naturally, probably very heavily.
Yes, Slave 1 is heavily modified to Boba Fett's EXACT specifications. EU states that most of this work was done at the Kuat drive yards, plus some of his own personal and non-disclosed modifications as well.

1- Walking around your ship and placing objects: I'd love it, but don't see it happening.
I agree - I do see the multi-passenger freighters, etc, but I see the passengers (sans pilot) being more inside the craft using turrents or just being transported much like vehicles in BF1942.
2- 'Twitch' flying: The SE would be dull without it. I'm not a 1337 D00D or anything, but to fly in space in the same fashion we get around now would be terrible. I know I won't be an ace pilot, because I've always gotten my butt handed to me in the other X-Wing games, but twitch-play will be a benefit.
This is going to upset some people and elate others. Personally, I like the twitch-play. I'm an old Star Raiders/Elite/Wing Commander/XvT/Freespace veteran. This may be an opportunity for SOE to open up the idea of an MMORPG game to a whole new market for people who have never played one.
3- Transitions: Pull the craft from the datapad (completely disappointing) and use the radial to enter (I'm assuming) and you'll get a loading screen as you transition from ground to space. Keep in mind this is an online game that works with broadband and dial up users. Any other transition method would be all but impossible to 'dial-uppers'.
I can understand the datapad thing. One thing that I am going to try and paraphrase since I don't have the quote - 'Ships will be called from the datapad in the starports. It will be like having a valet bring your vehicle to you.'
I really hope for a transition scene here, but I also think the option for the transition scene be optional for on/off.
4- Ship types: I'd hope that faction starcraft represent the minority in the stated 15 spacecraft.
Yes - I can see more individuals or neutrals having a Z-95 as opposed to a TIE of X-Wing. I think the TIE and X-Wing should be available only from faction recruiters (and cost a bundle of FP).
5- New stuff: I seriously hope we'll see new races (probable), new planets (probable), new weapons, new clothing, new structures, new everything. Expansions are supposed to expand all areas of gameplay, not just add a new element (space).
We are supposed to see two new races. It was talked about before launch of adding new planets in the SE, but I do not see them being added in this expansion. I do see new weapons, and new clothing - but unsure on new structures. Further comment on reasoning below.
6- Game fixes: It'd be nice if the devs would include some large game fixes on the Expansion CD. Instead of designing publishes/patches that are easily downloaded, they now have an extremely rare opportunity to push a large amount of code to fix the game.
This is where it will be difficult. Not everyone that plays Galaxies is going to buy the SE. So it would still require a download for these items to be implemented. So I don't think we will see many new structures or big changes/additions that are not related.
Also, would it be fair for everyone who will shell out $20-40 for the SE, if players who did not buy it will get these items (sans the starships)?
Just my 2 cents.

And now, a light-hearted glimpse into the future!
Yay! Patching done and I managed to log on... okay, let's open our datapad and look at the draft schematics... oh wait, I need to find an NPC trainer to teach me "Novice Shipbuilder"...

Sorry - couldn't resist embelishing on this a bit!
With this expansion, the game is headed in the right direction.. I cant wait wait. What burns me though, is how this should be an enhancement, instead of a retail expansion. Who thinks of a Star Wars game with no space craft?? The fact that SOE wanted to get the game out and get some ROI(return on investment) isnt the consumers fault. They should consider the space portion as a natural enhancement, instead of charging the consumer for something that should have been in the game to begin with. My 2 cents..

Not sure if this has been addressed in previous posts, this thread has grown rather quickly. The more I think about space combat the more frightening one realization becomes. At present, I play on the East Coast, and generally I tend to have higher ping times than all of my WC friends. On character creation all the servers are a distance 3 away, and I chose what was recommended, Kettemoore. With that being said, I play on a pretty nice system, and any lag that get comes from information from the server. This results in little delays such as looting, and when I kill something and it actually 'dies'. My problem is this.. right now we have the luxury that we 'target' and our shots automatically are aimed. In Space Combat, I am assuming that we will be aiming our shots, considering you refered to the 'twitchy' aspect to combat. I am afraid that this is simply going to result in a matter of who has the lowest ping time, and highest RAM. Am I going to be aiming at something that I am seeing on a small delay? How are the devs planning on 'leveling' the playing grounds for people like me who at best can get a ping of like 120-140ish on a cable modem, compared to my friends on the WC who get 40 ping everytime? (An example of this is when people try to ninja loot, and for some reason one guy ALWAYS gets the loot.. usually means lower ping/high RAM) And what about those who play on dialup and have pings in the 200-300 range? In a 'aiming' environment, how can someone expect to defeat someone if they have a superior connection? Any reassurance on this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
-Fitzhume
While that can pose a problem to you... You seriously should have chosen and East Coast server. All my pings are around 40-50 on Lowca. That is why they had 10 east and 10 west coast servers. For issues like this. But since you probably have a lot of time invested it may be too late to switch...I can sympathize for you.
You do understand that this is true of any game? I log into bf1942 and my pingfactors intohow well I play. This is just a fact of all Mulitplayer games. Now I can see you making the argument that the "recommended" system was unfare and you are on a sub-optimal server because of this. If that is the case then THAT specific component screwed you, not the ping or twitchy style, both of which are a welcome enhancement.
It should also be noted that Space Atmosphere is a LOT less ofa resource hog in the sense there are no weather effects, no shaddows, no houses to load, no harvestors, no creature spawns. You should expect the Space expansion to support many more people in one area than the ground game with less lag.
