Sure it's a marketing ploy but this one does not harm the integrity of the game. Infact I wish they would do more of these marketing ploys instead of the one that they are focusing on currently thats going to totally kill ground combat and maybe even the game. That destructive marketing ploy is a bad idea, this pimp ride marketing ploy is a good idea.

Good Marketing Ploy Devs/Marketing Department, now sacrifice the person who decided to use 100% player population as j3d-3y3/FS as a marketing ploy. That was a bad destructive idea.

The people complaining don't have a beef with the ship. I think everyone agrees it's really cool and a welcome addition to the JtL fleet.

What people are up in arms about is that the Devs are using a marketting incentive in the place of what was supposed to be a reward for devotion (and subscription fees). Some games do this well... one of the things I liked about UO was it's veteran reward system. It was based on accumulated time, not consecutive, it was 12 months, not 6, the items were desirable and almost always only usable to those of sufficient veteran status. In addition, every 12 months accumulated, our skill point cap was raised.

People who have never been exposed to a good veteran award program probably think the yacht is great. Other of us know this for what it is... a marketting ploy to keep people from cancelling then waiting until JtL comes out. If the Devs had called this a Loyalty Incentive, people wouldn't have been upset.

But if they say they are going to do veteran rewards... they need to be actual rewards for actual vets.

No decay + uber loot = /spit on crafters

Fix the economy and give crafters their $$$ worth... give us real revamp.

Remember... to Cancel you have to go to Register Expansion in the Launchpad.

Yes, that's the problem. It seems like a "reward" that was conceived by some slick marketing team in order to string people along a little more, not a true reward.

Look, I'm not an SWG-hater. I love the game, despite its many problems and irritations. I've been playing since last fall, and I have no plans to stop. Heck, I spent money on airfare and a hotel to fly all the way across the country for the FanFest, participated in the costume contest, and enthusiastically shared every bit of information I could glean from the panels with my friends who couldn't go. (My FanFest summary is posted here.)

As was stated above, if they just admitted this is a loyalty bonus then there would be no problem. But it rings hollow as a veteran reward. Anyway, some folks feel that this won't be the only "veteran reward" and there are more things coming. I hope they're right, I really do. Am I going to cancel my subscription if I don't get some nice goodie? Heck no. But am I going to buy JTL the day it comes out just to use my silver pimp ship? Sorry, no.

Consecutive means that if you cancel your subscriptionand come back, you start over again. This is an incentive reward for continuously playing through to Jump to Lightspeed. In this case, "Veteran" means 6 months.

Q,

Sounds like someone's trying to tamea churn problem

What about those who did play consecutively for six months in the past (say from launch to 1/04) quit and came back? Does that count, or do we have to cough up a fresh 6 months?

After looking through 17 pages of replies for the vet reward, I have one thing to say. Well a couple fo things to say.

First to all of you complaining...what a bunch of crybaby biatches. Just play the game and move on.

Second, to the game card players, quit cryin, if you kept up with your accounts they wouldnt expire. You started them, you should know when they expire.

Third, to the devs, thanks for the reward.

I always imagined Multi-Passenger ships being somewhat rare, now everyone is gonna have one of these space bus things. The only reason anyone is gonna want to use this after one day of having it, is to shuttle nOObs from planet to planet, no one else will want to go in your ship because they will all have one.

Devs, why havent you learned the only reason to own something in this game is if it helps you in combat or is rare and thus gives you "bragging rights". This luxury yacht is gonna suck so badly in combat, and as everyone will have one, people will use it for a day or so then get something else, what a waste.

One more question. Does it have a pool just like in the ship blueprints from the Westend Games Star Wars RPG book for the Thrawn Trilogy?

I think Lando had that put in custom (I'm not sure if ours will have it).

I'll bring up the game card issue with the subscription group next week.

For now, you 12 month vets will have to "suffer" with the those lowly 6 month vets. As stated, we may add more rewards in the future for different levels of vets. That has not been decided yet, so don't quote me on it. (or when you do, say that I said "may" and not "I promise you with my very life...")

Yeah, us people who've stuck it out since beta should be given something... I would settle for some sort of "helper" power. Maybe make me a honorary CSR. lol. Or just toss me a FS slot.

Ok... I'll settle for getting pistoleer fixed Pistoleer.
