Just for giggles, they should make micro star destroyers in orbit over the planets, things half the size of a shuttle craft, twice as destructive as a fully functional death star!
Yeah, and it should send "I Pwn3d j00 n00blet!" every time it whacks someone.

Well what happens when you hit the edge of the space server?
In ground you hit the edge of the server and just stop like you are running into a wall. can you not make one of the sides of these server things into a star destroyer?
Or have a space sector with it. It doesnt have to be realistically big, jabbas palace is small compared to what it really is. So it would be nice to have a big space station thing that we can fly through and get lost in

I agree.. if they are in the Naboo sky from the ground, we should be able to see em in space.
That's not Star Wars continuity, but in-game continuity, and it should be respected.
The biggest problem with placing them in the other space zones are their immense size, there's just not room for them right now. That and the fact that it would pulverize any Rebel pilots starting their adventure in Naboo.
"pulverize" isn't exactly the term I would use. Here's a few others, perhaps more appropriate:
- burninate
- liquefy
- literally scare to death
- flash fry
- show them the "obi-wan" manuever
- add to the nebula dust
- make another would-be hero
- pacify with extreme prejudice
- "Now witness the power of this fully armed and operational-" *ZAP*. "Why did you do that, private!? I wasn't done mocking him yet."
- Make him one with the Force. Forcibly.
LOL, can you imagine a n00b vs. star destroyer....
A new player launches into naboo space. He is extremly excited and doesn't know how anything works so he just rides around in circles with his ship. He practices firing and flying around the spacestation until he gets brave and starts to fire at freighters in orbit.
A Star Destroyer jumps from hyperspace right in front of him. He gets a message from an Imperial Captain "You dare attack my convoy?" The new player turns around and tries to run when 101 turret empacements open fire...

They're obviously on the other side of the planets... After all, you can't go around to the back, now can you?

There is one in Deep Space/Kessel.
I encountered it in Beta and it didn't shoot at me for 25-35 seconds, and then shot me down in seconds.

Maybe the fact the rebels are supposed to fear for thier life should mean something? The Star Destroyer is supposed to be feared. It doesnt have to be placed right next to the Space Station or something it could be towards one of the edges of the zone. Its complete crap this game when it comes to the Struggle between the Empire and the Rebellion. THERE IS NO STRUGGLE!!! The Imperial Player is subpar in terms of what they can use etc. And dont even get started on the AT-ST its an exspensive paperweight that uses datapad space.

Couldn't you just make them so they won't agro unless you attack them?

I believe StarDestroyers arn't THAT big... About the size of the current space stations in the current game.
ISD is 1k in length 1/15th the zone size

Actually space is more like 15x15x15 since it's 3D, so it's really only 1/225 the zone size

This is about the dumbest excuse I've heard yet. Having played since day 1, I have sat through travesty after travesty. This one PWNS them all.
What you have here and what you have in this game is a lack of respect for the STAR WARS PRODUCT, and you have a Lead Designer who lacks a backbone.
Someone who treated this product like it should have would have stopped people in their tracks and said "There is no way we are making anything but Stromtrooper Armor the best in the game" "There is no way we are shipping a space game without the single most important ship in the game."
Who's the guy? Cinco Barnes? Time for a change from him to someone who respects the Universe George Lucas created.
ONe more thing: The ultimate idiocy...I look up from Theed and see 3 Star Destroyers. I launch into space and nothing. How ridiculous can you get? You can't even follow the context of YOUR OWN GAME!!!Message Edited by NecrozDarksoul on 11-05-2004 05:23 PM
Star destoryers are BIG in the game bigger than space stations (probably about twice and a bit more) and really are bristling with guns.
I completely agree with having them as a backdrop like a planet, neblulae or moon but the actual thing would just be silly in the newbie zones.

You say that like there is something wrong with that.

I want player driveable star destroyers / corellian cruisers!!
They should be big, slow ships that require 50 people to fly. (Like 10 people for navigation, 5 people in radar, 5 people guarding the shuttle bay, 20 people manning turrets, etc.) And also, you should be vulnerable to a sneak attack unless you have 20-25 tie fighters guarding you too.
Maybe make it so you can't purchase them, but there is X per day that spawn in deep space and you can go man it if you want. Do missions, go PvP'ing, etc. The x could depend on how many people are in space, like 1 spawns per 500 people in space or something. I don't know but it could be really frickin fun.
