Firstly let me say that all these comments like 'get a group' or 'make some friends' or 'this is a multiplayer game, you should have to group' are not constructive and not helpful. While this is a multiplayer game, and grouping is fun and helpful (i group up with guildmates most nights to go flying), it is not compulsory.

JTL is a skills based game, in the same way as most other single player space combat games. However in conrtast to these other games it is not possible for the player to set their own difficulty level, and there are several reasons for this.

  1. It is technically challenging

  2. It means that not all Master Pilots will have overcome the same difficulties and the title will become meaningless, currently we know a master pilot has achieved certain things.

  3. What is to stop skilled players chosing easy settings? Why is this an issue? There are always going to be folks who want it easy, if you let them have it easy then they will master pilot and moan about lack of content.

In asingle player game if you fail at a section you go back to your last save, or the beginning of thesection, you now have the knowledge of what went happens in that section and so the next time you go through it will be a bit easier. You can't ask the developers to make that section easier for you, instead you need to learn from your mistakes, trydifferent tacticsand use the practice to increase your skill.

Those same principals apply in JTL, though you also have an extra option of grouping with others to help you overcome it. If you don't have this option then it becomes a case of try and try again until you get it right, or your skills in the game have improved sufficiently to allow you to achieve it.

If you reduce the difficulty over al then it produces a raft of other difficulties, make it a moderate challenge for an average soloist, it then becomes too easy for anyone who is above average or those people who are average and want to group together. You will still have those with low skills who want to solo it complaining on these boards that it is too difficult and so what do you do then?

It's a bit tiring to constantly hear, "This is a group game". So what? Many people come at different hours because they have no choice and sometimes their friends aren't on-line. So are they suppose to log out or sit and wait for a group?

Please!

Others aren't in a guild nor want to be, again so what? Many guilds are ghost towns because of either departures or in-house bickering. Again so what?

This is a game plain and simply and people wil play it according to how they see fit. So all you know-it-alls who constantly run the same stupid line, "This is a group game", so what?

It's sickening already, enough!

Seriously, some of you people act like it's impossible to think ahead or plan ahead. I'm amazed at the lack of forethought.

I work more than full-time. I get home and spend time with my wife and son. Then, when I get on, the group that I planned the day or two before is there and happy to help.

What is so hard about that?

The upcoming Combat Upgrade will make it impossible to solo things. The is an MMOG, there is supposed to be grouping going on.

Why is it that just because this is a MMORPG people say that you HAVE to group to play or get out?? Or that your SUPPOSED to be grouping because this is a MMORPG?? Where in the world do you get "group" outta Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game?

Lets examine this for a second,

MMORPG = this...

M = Massive, massive means very very large.

M = Multiplayer, Multiplayer means more then one person can play the game. (there are tons of games that can have more then one person playing and yet they are suppose to destroy the other persons charactor. ex. doom, mortal combat, armored core, ... shall i go on??)

O = Online, Online means to be on the internet.

RPG = Role Playing Game, Role Playing Game means you can take up a persona thats in a game to act out.

So where in all of that does it say that you are Supposed to or Haveto be in a group?? NONE THAT I SEE!!!

I can say the same thing. Where in MMORPG does it say that soloers have to be able to do everything in the game?

You want to only solo? Go do soloable things. I'm not stopping you.

Tell ya what name me one multi player game besides an online one that requires people to team up to do everything in the game and i just might accept that answer.

Everyone should have an equal opportunity to do the same things solo or grouped. Its not that hard to make things to where the difficulty setting is based off of your skills/stats. There are games that do that.

As I reviewed my comments, I still fail to see where I suggest that grouping should be required to do everything.

I solo things myself, yet group where grouping is due. If I can't get a group up right away, I find something else to do until the oppotune time presents itself. I'm in no hurry to have it all now now now.

I'm on my third Epsilon mission which is also un-soloable. Tier3 Missions should not be soloable anyways. Point is get one of your friends (if you don't know anyone go meet people.) to help you. If you're on Ahazi send me a tell I'm willing to help. Point is, there's plenty of people in Theed and around naboo to group with. I'm not gonna flame at you because you're a casual gamer, so am I. But I also belong to a guild and have them to call upon for help if need be.

Maybe you should think about ways of being a casual gamer as well as a part of the community.

I totally agree, there is a lot of content that have to be done in group, like de death watch bunker, the corvette, etc. What I'm saying is that my advancement should not be stop because I have a small list of friends or that I'm unguilded.

I noticed that you're on Chilastra. I'll be on tonight, look me up. We'll get that mission knocked out.

Wha's your ingame name? I'll look you up. If it's too difficult, I'll get some of my fellow masters to help. They love helping.

Primesa, this is a perfect example of what I mean. You don't need a huge friends list, you don't need to be guilded. You can always find someone to group with even if you have to ask in the forums. I don't want to have to have a group to advance either, but thats how it is. My TIE Bomber is too slow, and my Intercepter doesn't have enough mass to solo my next mission. So, I hook up with someone and we'll get it done.

Hehe thanks truewildman! I'll try to be on! But to continue the discussion, thats exactly what I was saying, my real life is more important than SWG...I never know when I'll have to head to work, or when my girlfriend will start screaming because she want me to take care of her. hehe, I wish she won't read that, for example, we were suppose to go to the cinema this evening. oops
