The a Tie Defender looks a little different then an opressor and it handles better then and opressor and an interceptor.

I think Totally Games, the people who made TIE Fighter, have some type of intelectual capital thing with the T/D. Really none of their designs are in the game, Missleboats, Defenders, their Advanced (the production model not the x1). I'm sure Lucas owns the designs overall, but there must be some reason none of these designs made it into the game.

they need to replace the agressor, right now a worthless ship for the opressor, Make the Defender master ship, and intoduce the lambda and the gunboat sometime soon , maybe make the gunboat replace the firespay for the imps, Make the rebels get an ewing and have the priv keep there firespay. Agressor and advanced are pretty much the same exept the agressor is a MPS.

Plus up the data pad ship storage.

e-wing is way after endor and I know people who PvP with the agressor and use it exclusively. And let's not forget such drastic changes can really bug up space, it really isn't that broken.

And if the TIE defender is really desired, then how about not letting TIE's have hyperdrives or shields until they get up to the Advanced level? And making the A-wing truly the fastest star fighter out there the way it should be?

See, we have to realize that the more demands we make, the more demands that others will make too. How about we just ask for better game play? And more stability? but then I'm going off on a tangent...

The Tie Defender did make it in a few of the books I believe, along with that it has also been in Star Wars:Galactic Battlegrounds, it was the fighter you got at the Empire's highest Tech Level. Anyhow along with the Defender there are a number of Tie's they still can put in. There's the TIe-Hunter from Rebel Strike on the GameCube, that Tie (I forget it's name) from Rebel Assult 2, the Assult Gun and Missileboat from X-Wing/Tie Fighter.

Oh yeah, the tie fighter from Rebel Assault 2, that would be a sweet multi man ship. I forget its name as well, But I know the one you are talking about, and I totally agree that would be an awesome addition. Hehe, I wonder if they will ever put cloaking devices in jtl?

I would love to see the T/D in game, but only when a balance of power can be achieved. As it is right now, the rebels have no ship that gives the same capablities or counter to.. the tie opressor.

That's the problem with adding the TIE Defender. It would unbalance the space war, which is actually quite well balanced. (Besides the Rebels having to put up with Oppressors having three missile tubes. ) The TIE Defender was designed to outperform everything else, and did that quite well..which is why we can never have it in-game.

Tie Defender is the most expensive fighter ever built. 5 Times the cost of a normal Tie Fighter. Limited production run. Program started by Grand Admiral Zaarin after Hoth and the Tie Avenger program. Missile Boat was designed to combat it after Zaarin went warlord.

Most manueverable fighter ever builr. 4 laser cannons and 2 Ion cannons. 16 concussion missiles in 2 launchers. A mini tractor beam (on a limited number) Speed on par with, or better than, an A-wing.

Essentially in Galaxies, the conversion would be:
3 gun ports, 1 missile port.
Speed bonus equal to A-wing
PYR bonus of about 1.3-1.5
Mass about 110-140K given that it is larger than an Advanced, but smaller than an oppressor.
I used to be opposed to adding this, but I have changed. I say make it hard to get though. How about you have to pay 50 million prestige, and you get a new quest in space. once you complete it, you get a 1 time use schematic for a Tie Defender.

Tie Defender was sweet, and itwas overbalancing. Anyone play XWA or XvT online? All anyone flew was a Tie Defender. It outmatched even the A-Wind and Inerceptor in speed. It had Tie armor, but A-Wing type shielding. Hyperdrive, life support, and a dozen other technical upfrades. Of course it's weapons said it all,4 heavy laser cannons, 2 ion cannons, and a pair of missile launchers ( I belive in the ship guide, someone burrowed it so I can't be sure, one was concussion and one was a torpedoe). The ship could do circles around anything when it was designed. The few prototypes built could beat anything. By the time the ships were implemented (I, Jedi-8 years after RotJ) they were not as tough, but that did not matter. The E-Wing and the XJ X-Wing were supperior and they easily out performed the Tie Defender. So overall, we could get a Tie Defender (yay continuity, we say it's broken and then ask to brake it more saying it's already broken and this or that is no different from that or this), but the Rebels would need the E-Wing or XJ X-Wing to combat the ship (4 Heavier and faster laser cannons, enhanced speed, better armor, much better shielding, better manuevering, better droid interfaces, and 3 heavy proton torpedoe tubes). I shudder at the day when a squadron of player XJs and a squadron of player Tie Defenders charge each other above Corellia or Naboo.

The TIE Phantom was its name,id love both the Phantom and the Defender as master level ships, although as you said cloaking devices would probably be out for the sake of balance
e-wing is way after endor
So? The B-Wing wasn't designed until after ESB (it's what help promote Ackbar to Admiral), and the A-Wing was designed just before the battle of Endor. They seem to have made it into the game without timeline constraints.

If you are saying that the Tie Defender does not fit in with the timeine then techniquely (sorry for the spelling) the a wing does not fit in the timeline. The a wing was built shortly before the battle of endor.

The A-wing does fit the timeline.

From Starwars.com on the A-wing:

The Alliance brain trust of General Jan Dodonna and engineer Walex Blissex developed the A-wing starfighter after examining the role of speed in the Battle of Yavin and the sleek fighters developed by the Tamuuz-an. The top-secret result of their experimentation was the A-wing, the fastest vessel of the Galactic Civil War.

From Starwars.com on Jan Dodonna:

Tragedy struck General Dodonna during the Yavin evacuation, as his son Commander Vrad Dodonna was killed during an attack run on the Super Star Destroyer Executor. His health failing, Dodonna opted to stay behind during the Yavin evacuation, and detonate a series of concussion charges hidden among the ruins. An entire fleet of Imperial TIE bombers perished in the explosion. The Alliance believed Jan Dodonna dead.

The A-wing, therefore, was designed between the battle of Yavin and the evacuation of Yavin. Not much time, I know, but the design was there. However, the A-wing didn't enter mass production immediately because the Alliance didn't have the resources to do so. Instead, A-wings were produced individually in workshops across the galaxy, with variations in each craft.

The B-wing's timeframe is a bit sketchy. From the old X-Wing game, we can place the B-wing's production between the Battle of Yavin and the establishment of the Hoth base, which is the timeframe we're in right now. It's a slight stretch, but the B-wing could be in the begining stages of production, though it definitely wouldn't be mass produced like the X-wing and Y-wing starfighters.
