The Assault Gunboat would be awsome, but it wasn't an Imperial ship. The Imps used it, but chose not to buy it in bulk, so the manufacturers were able to sell many out to independant organizations.

Bria-Varien: TKA, Pistoleer, Smuggler, and wanderer.

It's nice to be wanted, even if it is 'Dead or Alive'

"Teras Kasi are leathal, nearly impossible to knock down or unbalance"
"Facing an opponent armed with ranged weapons, high-level abilities enable him or her to evade blaster fire and close in quickly, bringing his or her enemy swiftly to the ground."

Bwings - Love them particularly as I am imp, big, slow target tugs, just as long as you do not get on its business end! The tug will become the Destroyer!

I'm more fearful of the little Awing, small, sleek, fast and very able to smash whatever it has far as fighters in its sights into atomic dust!

Looking forward to the expansion and seeing what these ships can do, possibly start to get some payback for PVP!

I didn't know that, thanks. The only time I saw it was in the Tie Fighter game and IMO it was the best ship in that game because of its power, you couldspread the power to the shields(very good shields), engines(very powerful), weapons(can be fitted with ions, normal lasers, andtorpedos or missiles)and still have a very powerful ship.

It would be nice if ships were going to be as cheap as a good set of comp but I doubt it since Drs are getting away with charging over 13k for buffs and smugglers are charging 10k per slice.

I'll take the TIE Advanced X1 (Darth Vader's ship in ANH).

I'll up the ante here: Remember the Missile Boat? That thing could hold tons of warheads. Granted, it was only armed with a single laser, but to maintain distance it had this boost feature where your speed was doubled for a limited time. That ship rocked, and it blasted TIE Defenders that fell into Adm.Zaarin's hands (from the TIE Fighter game).

If the Empire for some weird reason did get the TIE Defender, expect the Rebels to howl about a nerf or a Novatrooper style removal.

I think they should have a tie defender. It would be faster and more manueuverable then a tie interceptor and have about 80k+ mass. It would be for Imperial Aces. It might even replace the Oppressor. What are your thoughts?

The TIE Defender is one of the coolest Imp ships Star Wars. I was very surprised (and disappointed) when it first wasn't included in JTL, andnow when it appears not to be included in RotW. I say get it in the game!

I would have to disagree on the account of game balance and too many fighters that do the same thing. If you haven't noticed, the Oppressor is pretty much a TIE Defender with the solar panels reversed.

I would imagine the Tie/D will make it into the game some day. As it is right now, it would be to powerful of a craft. Maybe they would balance the sides by giving the rebels the E-wing and K-wing (bomber). When they ever get around to moving the game forward, I'm sure the Tie/D will be part of that.

I was disappointed when jtl that it did not include the Tie Avenger and Tie/D. I was also suprised to find out that gunboats were no longer heavy fighters, and more like what you'd think a gun boat would be. But there is speculation that SOE wasn't allowed to use designs from totally games (the makers of all the X-wing series). Which is disappointing in itself, because there were alot of cool ships in XWA, that probably won't make it into SWG. Although the Tie Avenger and Tie Defender are on the Offical Star Wars website, so there is still hope.

Let's see if I remember right......I think the TIE Defender was first introduced in the game TIE Fighter. Hehe, I still have the 5 floppy disks the game camewith.

In TIE fighter, one of your first missions was to defend an area of space from Rebels fleeing from Hoth. Later on you work with the very people who develop the TIE Defender, and that was several tours later.

I'd love to see the defender in jtl, but I'm not sure that the timeline fits because this game is supposed to take place between ep. 4 and 5. Originally I heard they were gonna bump the timeline up to between 5 and 6 which would have been perfect for introducing the defender, but I guess it was just too difficult to change the NPCs around and stuff.

That doesn't mean we won't see the defender, but they'll have to bump the timeline up to make it canon (not that everything outside of the movies has to be completly canon).

Who knows, maybe the upcoming Modified Advanced and Royal Guard Interceptor might have more mass to play with. An Interceptor with 65k and an Adv with 85-90k would be heaven - the Rebels are getting a heftier Z95 and X-Wing.
