The "+ Max Stored Ship" idea is brilliant! I like the idea of advancing through skills in many arenas.

This would solve the issue!

Just add a "max ships" skillmod, like CH have... And allow up to 6 ships Well, maybe 5, if you want...
Let's say 1 for every tier, you don't need many slots when you can only have a light duty ship
Could give that +1 Max ship in the same colums we get ship certification, that sounds good to me...

YES! YES! YES!

Dev's read this. You will make us all very happy. Giving Pilots the same abilities as CH's will make this a simple and easy additoon to JTL.

P.S. It's silly that the yacht takes up a lot AND a space in the datapad.

Adding a Max ship allowance based on levelis functionally equivalent to just saying "raise the maximum number of ships allowed in your datapad". Why? Simple, because you can't access other ships until you raise in tiers anyway. And why else would you want more ships in your datapad except to use different ship chassis?
I agree with meeuki, there's no "choice" here, it's just causing a hassle, not gating you. They aren't saving database space since you're holding onto the deed anyway. They should just raise the ship limits and be done with it.

exactly. i'm not really understanding why a couple people aren't grasping that. the only thing that would change is that it would be easier to use different ships. you can already use every single ship, it's just that it should be less of a hassle.

unless there's a reason for making it cumbersome, but so far no poster has suggested a rational reason for that.

yea dude, but Iv got to say the yacht isent the only travel ship, they all can

but still, having that one take a slot is retarted, 3 combat ships max would be ok though in my book, just yacht shouldent count for ships, lots im cool with, but not ships man

How about this:

You want to play on a server that's even more laggy than what many experience? Load down the server with twice as much datapad info, and you will see more of a consequence than you think.

So, it's a trade-off. I would rather have the minor discomfort of once in a while managing my inventory than have an all-time near unplayability.

I dont care how many ships I can carry on my data pad. I want the Yacht to stop counting against my land structure limit.

Ok. I'm waaaayyyy past ya man. Inventory, datapad, all uses the same. Yep. Got it.

So you want to double all that you already have? Requiring double the amount of components, double the amout of ships, requiring more hard drive space, more bandwidth...are we getting this yet?

That's why they aren't able to up the storage limit of our houses. Search for it. Read up on it.

ok let me try to make things just a little bit simpler for you.

say i have 6 apples. i have a pocket that fits 3 apples. i have a bag that fits probably 30 or 40 apples. 3 apples are in my pocket, 3 are in my bag. got it? 6 apples total. now, i want to be able to put 1 or 2 more apples into my pocket.

THAT DOESNT MEAN I SUDDENLY HAVE 12 APPLES!!

So, you want to change the dynamics of the game for the stupid ones who feel they have to carry everything with them at all times?

Yeah...makes alot of sense... /eyeroll

ok, just to make sure we are on the same page, which i'm fairly sure we aren't, you are asserting that once you are done with a ship, you take the components out of it, deed it, then delete the deed? you only keep your 3 ships, components for those 3 ships, and that's it? ALSO all other players should do the same thing, and nothing should be added to the game to faciliate those who keep their deeds and components.

furthermore, despite people ALREADY putting deeds in bag with components, therefore using an identical amount of space as they would if the ship was in the datapad, (a concept you failed to grasp originally) you still cling to space constraints as a logical reason why the ship limit is set to 3?

on top of that, you are asserting, despite having no data to back your claims up, more than 3 ships would add to lag that only some players are experiencing?

i'm just trying to make sure i'm seeing where you are coming from, before i assert that you smoke rock, and you are now retarded because of it.

As a veteran of SWG I qualified for the Luxury Yacht. Cool! I can now avoid long lines at the Starports. However I am now limited to two spacecraft in my inventory. Not Cool! I'd like to keep my X-Wing and add a B-Wing and a XLR-Courier Transport or a Firespray to my Data Pad in the fututre. Teaming up with different players on their mission will require different spacecraft to fulfil the roles; fast attack X-wing; close support Y-wing with lots of armor; etc. I hope the Dev's take this into account and expand the number of spacecraft control Devices in a players's Data Pad to 4 or more. Please discuss.

Thanks for JTL it saved SWG!

I have 3 ships in my datapad (Rihkxyrk, Kimo, Yacht). I have enough components to fill one ship. If I want to change ships, I take the components out of one, and put those same components into the other, according to it's type.

Personally, if you're tier 4, I don't see how you can find more than 2 ships remotely useful. In fact, now that I'm 4433, I don't have any use for any other ship but the Rihkxyrk. Simply don't have enough mass.

bomber, multiperson ship like the yt1300, yaht, fighter. that's 4. because you don't see the need nobody else should? who's thinking about themselves now?

i most definately would use different components for each ship. the only difference between increasing the # of ships in the datapad, and what many, MANY players will do, is one requires you to put things in bags and spend the time rearranging. thus the point of this thread, whether it's a big deal or not is besides the point, it's cubersome for no logical reason. if there is a logical reason, then by all means, state it. if not, then why not increase the ship count?

I agree, the three-ship limit is a bit too small. Four or five would do just fine.

As a Veteran, I have a SoroSuub, so that basically only leaves me with two ship lots (though I wouldn't trade my SoroSuub in for the world ).

Right now I have two other ships completely decked out. One is a heavier fighter, useful for attacking stronger targets that I need to go toe-to-toe with because I can deal more damage and take a beating. Then I have a lighter fighter that can't take much damage, nor is very powerful, but is quite fast and can outrun some enemy craft, which gives me the advantage in speed. A Y-Wing and a Z-95. WhenI get my X-Wing, I'll be re-deeding my Z-95, but I want to keep my Y-Wing Longprobe. Then when I get my B-Wing, I want to keep my B-Wing, X-Wing and Longprobe out and souped up with upgrades, so I can use one when I feel like it. I don't want to redeed my SoroSuub because of all the time I took decorating it. It may sound greedy, but that's what I'd like to have. If I only had one more "ship lot", then this would work. But with only three lots, I can't do it.
