of course with a name like TerdBurglri don't think anyone really had high expectations
anyway
I'm getting the sneaking suspicion that it's because i'm privateer and privateer ships probably suck, although it can't be that entirely because that would not explain how fast shields and armor go. i have tested it, i'm 4 4 4 4 with the lvl 8 shields and 6 armor and a friend who's 3 3 2 2 with my old weapons i gave him when i upgraded was able to kill me in like 1 or 2 shots max. he didn't even mean to kill me, it was just before either of us realized how much damage he was actually doing it was too late.

Well, look at this another way. With the way it is, there is a chance for a smaller group to overcome a larger one. If you inflate the time it takes to kill a ship, there will be more time for the larger side to gang up on individuals.

my opinion is, there shld be a reduction, if u are good u can
out maneuver the shots anyway. but its more fun to fight 30 secs
than 2 secs. than it will be the skill and equipment matter, not
the who was lucky enough to sneak up and had the first lucky shot.
this is the point.
those who wish to keep it as is just dont look beyond themselves. they need to realize that although for them a 2 hit battle is fun, alot of people wont enjoy it. they are skilled most likely, and deserve the edge, but they also need to realize that this game is also played by people who arent godly at flight sims.
who is worse off: the player who is "forced" to play 30 seconds longer to kill a player because of a reduction in damage, although hell still manage the kill
, or the player who dies in two hits and gives up in pvp.
please just look at it from all angles. i know it would hurt it for you if it took you substantially longer to kill someone, but look at the other side...dying in 2 seconds is alot more frustrating than killing your enemy in 30.
I dont care if you have tier 20 equipment, if you fly like a cow then you will get slaughtered like one.
1st You have to think in 3D. There is a X,Y AND Z axis on which you can move
2nd Play using a joystick with a Z-Axis twist control, keyboard requires too much hand movement. Delay kills
3rd Move a LOT. Twist, turn, dive, bank, roll. Dont just fly in a straight line on one axis.
4th Be aware of your enemies position relative to yours. Is he above and to the left, below and to the rear, etc. Keep you enemies to the front of you rather than stacked behind you.
5th Be aware of your speed and his speed. use the throttle a lot, dont just fly at one speed. Slow down and speed up. If the enemy comes flying over you full blast, slow down and roll hard in his direction then hit the throttle full again, 9 times out of ten you will then be on his ass and getting in salvos.
PRACTICE!!!!
Find a guildmate to practice with, you and him take up a Z95 and dogfight. Learn to maneuver first with a human opponent. If you fight the AI all the time, you pickup on their patterns, and will get frustrated when your AI tactics dont work.
Breaking a Tail
Have a baddie on your butt and he wont go away? Hit max throttle , feign a roll to the right, then as fast as you can cut the throttle, and roll hard AND up to the left, then max the throttle again. If you enemy buys the ruse, he will be looking and flying to the right as you speed off up and to the left. Make variations, break left or right, up or down, whatever it is, you want to get out of his cockpit view quickly. Being quick on the throttle is the key to making this work, so keep your other hand on the throttle.
Dont use the same ruse twice in the same encounter. You need to mix it up or your enemy will start predicting what you will do and when.
Pretend
Make your enemy think you are something you are not. Pretend to be slow, make your enemy get bold and come in closer thinking you cannot run or out maneuver him. Sucker him in.
Bring a friend
2 fighters are better than one no matter how weak the spacecraft as long as the pilots are smart. Fly with a wingman and watch each others backs. If you have a Y-Wing, get someone in that rear gunner's seat.
Missles
A lot of cheap missles are better than a cpl really good ones. Load up with a bunch of Mark I missle launchers and packs, and you can quickly force an enemy to run out of countermeasures and still have missles left. I would only put really good ones on if I were part of a squadron and my job was to deliver the DB to a crippled starship, otherwise they are a waste in dogfighting. With the Mark Is you can spam the enemy with missles after his countermeasures are gone to knock his shields down then finish him off with the dispruptors.
Defense
Power up with good sheilds and armor and focus on the rear of your ship. I tend to go for as many lesser missle packs as I can put on and lesser disruptors and make up for it with stronger engines, and boosters. Manuveribility and speed > heavy weapons on a dogfighting starfighter. Also the lighter disruptors wont eat up power reserves as fast, and the capacitors will recharge faster. Also missles dont eat up power like the disruptors do, and make you deadlier at a longer range.

Please don't start begging for changes. 2 or 3 hit kills are realistic. It's nice to play a challenging realistic pvp game.

Oy, complaining about the PvP and not the missions, this shouldn't happen! The PvP is amazing. It's exactly how it should be. This is a twitch game, fellas, not astat based one. Thus, it should be about skill.

ok if that is so "realistic" thento keep itrealisitc they have to change pve to the same so EVERY ship dies in 2 hits, as someone else said "to keep the star wars feeling." why should a tier 3 npc ship take5-10 hits or so when a higher level pvp ship takes 1 or 2 max?
people just want to gank the players in one hit and call themselves l33t.
your not. when it takes 5-10 hits to kill someone, and you can actually maintain a line of fire on the enemy, then i will gladly call you l33t..until then, your just getting in a lucky shot.
