Effects? Simple. All the MMORPG groupies will move on to EQ2 leaving the Star Wars fans to play a better game without all the BS the groupies bring to this game. All I can say is...
Buh-bye EQ kiddies

SOE couldn't care less if people moved from SWG to EQ2, because EQ2 is also SOE's
Actually thats not true. SOE would prefer it if you moved to EQ2. They own all rights to EQ2, therefore they get 100% of the profits from it. With SWG, you-know-who is getting his cut and Im sure it isnt a small check lol
From this fact comes the rumors of Lucas complains and maybe its rupture with SoE.

Look how many people stuck with EQ1 with the onslaught of all those games that came out after it. Heck, even UO is still around, supported by a few fanatics.
WoW and EQ2 will steal players from all over, but people will keep coming back to SWG because of the SW theme. As many people posted...WoW and EQ2 is just more swords and sorcery, and that theme is getting old IMHO...
SWG is not in trouble, believe me. Especially since it's backed by LucasArts.

Personally, I'll be playing both, being a fan of both Star Wars and D&D/fantasy. Both have their good points, tho I agree the sword & sorcery theme is getting old. I'd personally like to see more space/tech games, maybe Shadowrun, maybe Star Trek. The only fantasy MMORPG I'm looking forward to is Middle Earth Online, for obvious reasons.

Watch out SWG! One whole guildhas quite! It's all over now.All I have to say is only time will tell. But there's only one SWG mmog. SWG fans can't gettheir Star Wars adventurein EQ2 or WoW. One thing puts me off WOW.It will be a kid l337 dood infested hell hole. You can't have a good workingMmog community with a load of kids L33t doods. This is what Wow community or lack of will be full of.

The thing is this is StarWars. It was the first MMORPG for me and for thousands of others. I will not be leaving it for another MMORPG. If I ever do leave it will be for other reasons, but not to jump to another MMORPG. StarWars is the reason I am here. I take a break from time to time, but I come back. I am on a 6 month hook up
Even when I start my new job (woohoo, finally
)in January and will have my time to play cut back about 70% I will still be playing.
Currently the only thing that tweaks my curiousity is GTA:San Andreas. I plan on playing that for awhile, yet still log in to SWG to check on things and to make sure I am not missing a great shift of resources that someone I know might need.

It really wont affect it. No MMORPG has EVER, EVER, drawn a huge ammount of another MMORPGs community. It'll draw a few, but nothing very substantial. MMORPG killers, as they call it, are often over-hyped and fail to meet expectations. Most will soon find the same in WoW and Matrix Online. Plus, these two wont affect SWG and JTL, specifically JTL because it comes out OCTOBER the 27th, not November the 15th. Plus, the majority, infact, probably 90% of the ammount of JTL copies sold will be to SWG players, because its an expansion pack. And so, really, two new MMORPGs wont even effect it. In the end, we'll see that JTL will really do fine, and the two MMORPGs which, like all MMORPGs, will fail to meet over-hype and exaturated features, and will eventually be flooded with hordes of angry community fan-base of rants, whines, and immature incoherant suggestions. welcome to the world of any MMORPG

You have three types here:
1. Star Wars fans - these players will stay with the game no matter what.
2. MMORPG kiddies - these players jump from MMORPG to MMORPG, playing whatever is popular at the time. (the "WoW is gonna pwn SWG but only until EQ2 comes out" types)
3. RPG Game Lovers - this is where I fall, and usually we do check out other MMORPG's, but not to the point of ever abandoning others. At one time, I was playing SWG, EQLive, KOTOR, Neverwinter Nights, FF10. On November 15th, I may not log on to SWG, but it's a sure bet I'll play both EQ2 and SWG about the same amount of time that week.

But where does my loyalty lie? I preordered JTL. I decided EQ2 wasn't worth the preorder. ;-)
